Kurdistan Workers' Party PKK warns France over KNK leader's

PostAuthor: RawandKurdistani » Fri Oct 12, 2012 5:09 pm

Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) warns France over KNK leader's arrest

October 12, 2012

QANDIL,— After the arrest of Adem Uzun a member of Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) by French police, Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), which is alleged to be an umbrella political organization that includes the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) released a statement warning the French authorities of taking responsive action if the anti-Kurdish policies of France were to persist.

Pointing to the role France had played in division of Kurdistan in 1923 the KCK statement remarked; “When Kurdistan was divided into four parts, France played a significant role. Encountered with such an injustice ever since, the Kurds were also faced with state terror in 1990s, to encounter such injustice they adopted a path to struggle. France has supported the occupiers, the looters and the mass-murderers [of the Kurds] and now targets the Kurdish politicians.”

Condemning how the French authorities have treated the Kurdish political activists the statement outlined; “France had designated Kurdish legitimate struggle as terrorist and by fabricating groundless accusation of drug-trafficking which bears no relation with our organisation at all,www.ekurd.net it has arrested many Kurdish politicians and held them in pre-trail detentions; nothing has come out of their courts either,” it added.

KCK also pointed out that such strategies pursued by French authorities are all corollary of psychological war conducted against the Kurds and the Kurdish resistance movement.

“On a groundless charge,” said the KCK, “They have arrested Adem Uzun, a leading figure of Kurdistan National Congress who has spent his entire life in Europe engaging in politics and diplomacy representing the Kurdish people.”

The KCK warned French authority to put an end to its antagonistic stance or it will face a responsive action from the Kurdish resistance movement.

“We as the Kurdish resistance movement,” noted the statement; “had already warned French authority urging them to stop their hostile stance. But the then French government headed by Sarkozy paid no attention to such warnings and pursued its anti-Kurdish policies in line with its interest. Although the government had changed but it seems that hostile policies against the Kurds are still at work. If such policies continue, the Kurdish resistance movement and the Kurdish people will avail of the right to respond and they will be impelled to make decisions against the interests of French state”.

At the end of the statement the KCK calls on the French authorities to stop such hostile policies on due time. “Before we reach that stage, we call upon French authorities to put an end to such hostile policies against the Kurdish struggle for freedom,” the statement ended.

Since it was established in 1984, the PKK has been fighting the Turkish state, which still denies the constitutional existence of Kurds, to establish a Kurdish state in the south east of the country. More than 40,000 people have since been killed.

But now its aim is the creation an autonomous region and more cultural rights for ethnic Kurds who constitute the greatest minority in Turkey, numbering to 23 million. A large Turkey's Kurdish community openly sympathise with PKK rebels.

The PKK wants constitutional recognition for the Kurds, regional self-governance and Kurdish-language education in schools.

PKK's demands included releasing PKK detainees, lifting the ban on education in Kurdish, paving the way for an autonomous democrat Kurdish system within Turkey, reducing pressure on the detained PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, stopping military action against the Kurdish party and recomposing the Turkish constitution.

Turkey refuses to recognize its Kurdish population as a distinct minority. It has allowed some cultural rights such as limited broadcasts in the Kurdish language and private Kurdish language courses with the prodding of the European Union, but Kurdish politicians say the measures fall short of their expectations.

The PKK is considered as 'terrorist' organization by Ankara, U.S., the PKK continues to be on the blacklist list in EU despite court ruling which overturned a decision to place the Kurdish rebel group PKK and its political wing on the European Union's terror list.

Murat Karayilan speaks to al-jazeera
http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/tal ... 70501.html

On many fronts in the Middle East major geopolitical and military changes are taking place.

Syria is more or less out of control, and a potential conflict with Turkey is now looming. In Iraq, the fighting continues, and the regime in Iran is facing sanctions and possible Israeli military action.

One group of people straddling the upheaval are the Kurds. You find them in all these countries and they have long fought to create their own country.

So, could geopolitical changes taking place in the Middle East give them a chance to finally reach their goal?

There are an estimated 40 million of them seeking recognition as Kurdish people, but it is not a coordinated effort under one command. One of the most important Kurdish groups is the PKK, the Kurdistan Workers' Party, which is based in northern Iraq. In Iran there is the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) and in Syria there is the Democratic Union Party (PYD).

After seeing reports that the PKK has recently become more involved in attacks in Turkey and after hearing that Kurdish fighters have been seen in battles going on in Syria, we decided to seek out the PKK leader to discuss what he and his fellow Kurds are doing now.

But finding the man leading the PKK in Iraq is not easy. Constantly under threat from Turkish jet fighters dropping bombs on PKK targets, the commander, Murat Karayilan and his team, are constantly on the move, hiding. After driving to an agreed upon meeting point in northern Iraq, however, we met his people who escorted us to a lush area where we finally met him and invited him to talk to Al Jazeera.

"Turkey does not want us to be part of the changes in the Middle East .... Turkey is afraid of the changes in the region. They are afraid that the Kurds will wake up and also rise like the rest of the people in the Middle East ...

There are no PKK fighters inside Syria. This is Turkish propaganda. As far as I know and I follow the Syrian situation very closely, there are PYD forces in that area but they are not cooperating with the regime or the government forces. PKK is an organisation that wants peace and democracy in the region. PKK has been fighting for peace for 40 years. PKK supports change and democracy in Syria. But PKK does not accept Turkish interference in Syria. That's the main problem ...

There are many Kurdish political parties inside Syria and they don't cooperate with either the Syrian government or opposition, they have chosen a third path, in the middle. For example in Aleppo, the Kurds decided to stay outside the fight because they see that the opposition in Syria is backed by Turkey. The opposition has not recognised Kurdish rights. They have not reached an agreement. So the Kurds in Syria have decided to stay neutral. But they also want change .... Generally speaking if the opposition recognise the rights of the Kurds in that area, then the Kurds might join the opposition there ...

Now the Kurds in the area are not fighting any battles or getting involved because their goal is not to take over the Damascus regime. The Kurds just want to have their own natural rights. This is the Kurdish reality .... We want a revolution and we are on the side of the revolution. But we believe in a different way of achieving the revolution. We do not support the regime, we are on the side of change and democracy ...

The region is heading towards a sectarian war. This is very dangerous. We will not get involved in the Sunni Shia divide. Kurds will stay neutral. We would like to see constructive politics. Turkey is trying to twist our position. Because they want to finish the PKK and they want us to become a target in the current war ...

It's a path for democracy and freedom that started in Tunisia and Egypt. We will take part in this path. The Kurds will not be anybody's army. We have to stay independent and work with the people. We will be on the side of democracy, if the West brings democracy we will take part in it. But if the West has hidden agendas then we will not take part. This is what we are preparing for ...

This is the time to end those kinds of regimes. Sooner or later they will fall. But the use of force alone will only bring more destruction now and later. Change is a must and Assad should not insist on staying in power."

PKK gets no help from Syria: Murat Karayilan

PostAuthor: RawandKurdistani » Mon Oct 15, 2012 4:01 pm

Turkey, like a democratic country, should solve the Kurdish problem and then we will abandon our arms” says Murat Karayilan, PKK military leader.

October 15, 2012

The military leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has denied his group is receiving assistance from Syria or Iran in its fight with Turkey.

In an exclusive interview with BBC Persian's Jiyar Gol, Murat Karayilan said the suggestion of renewed Syrian support for the PKK was "a lie".

Clashes between the PKK and Turkish military have increased since the uprising in Syria began last year.

The armed group is fighting for an autonomous Kurdish region in Turkey.

Turkish officials have suggested that the neighbouring Syrian government may have renewed its allegiance with the Kurdish militants in an effort to undermine Turkey, which has led condemnation of Syria.

Fighting between the PKK and Turkish army has killed more than 700 people in the last 15 months alone, according to a recent report by the think-tank International Crisis Group (ICG) - the fiercest fighting in 13 years.

Meanwhile relations between Syria and Turkey have plummeted since Syrian president Bashar al-Assad began oppressing a revolt against his regime.

But Mr Karayilan, who spoke at his base in Iraqi Kurdistan, near the Turkish border, denied that Syria or its close ally Iran was sponsoring the PKK's operations.

"It's a baseless fairy story," he told the BBC's Jiyar Gol. "It's coming from outside, from the Turkish government... it's not true, it's a lie."

'No civilian targets'

There is a large Kurdish region in north-eastern Syria, bordering Turkey and Kurdish-administered northern Iraq, but relations with the Syrian government have historically been difficult.

In the 1990s, Syria was accused of harbouring PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan before his arrest by Turkish authorities in 1999,www.ekurd.net but has also been involved in the violent suppression of activists promoting Kurdish nationalism in Syria.

Mr Ocalan remains in prison in Turkey, leaving Mr Karayilan the de facto head of the PKK's military operations.

Mr Karayilan has not spoken to media outlets in almost a year, and met our correspondent in the mountainous regions close to the Iraqi-Turkish border amid high security.

The PKK is regarded as a terrorist group by Turkey, the US and the European Union.

It has waged a guerrilla campaign in south-east Turkey for more than 25 years, attempting to establish an ethnic homeland for the Kurdish people.

It has attacked military checkpoints and convoys, and carried out bombings in cities. Some 40,000 people, including civilians, have died in the war.

The PKK has been blamed for a recent spate of bombings, including one that killed four children in Gaziantep in August. But Mr Karayilan denied any involvement.

"Any time there are any explosions Turkey blames the PKK," Mr Karayilan said. "What is the evidence? How do you prove it? Has anyone taken responsibility for it?

"I want everybody to know: we are not targeting civilians."

Despite the recent escalation in attacks, Mr Karayilan insisted the PKK was still open to talks with the Turkish government in a bid to resolve the conflict.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdogan has also recently suggested that further talks are possible.

But Mr Karayilan stressed that disarmament of the PKK would not happen until after an agreement was reached.

"Turkey, like a democratic country, should solve the Kurdish problem and then we will abandon our arms," he said. "We are willing to accept any mediation to end the war."

PKK claims killing 25 Turkish soldiers in clashes

PostAuthor: RawandKurdistani » Wed Oct 17, 2012 10:35 pm

PKK released statement on most recent operations and clashes in Hakkari region, in Turkey's Kurdish region.

October 17, 2012

HAKKARI, Turkey's Kurdish region,— In a statement on most recent operations and clashes in Hakkari’s Şemdinli, Yüksekova and Çukurca districts in Turkey's Kurdish region, People’s Defense Forces Press Office HPG-BIM, the military wing of PKK, reported that 25 soldiers were killed in clashes in Kazan Valley on October 14.

PKK remarked that two guerrillas, whose identities are yet not clear, also lost their life in the mentioned clashes and noted that the Turkish army bombardment killed one woman and injured one other and damaged a number of vineyards and orchards of villagers in the region.

PKK stated that the operation of the Turkish army still continues in the areas of Tiyarê triangle, Pira Çeto, Suwara Benê, Helwesîs and Kepe Mirişka.

It was also noted that the areas of Şikefta Birîndara, Mahîr Mîrzo, Xeregol, Karker in Media Defense Areas have been shelled by Turkish military since October 13.

On the other hand, three Turkish soldiers were killed in guerrilla actions which targeted three military posts and bases in Çukurca on Tuesday evening,www.ekurd.net according to reports by Turkish sources.

The simultaneous actions by PKK guerrillas reportedly targeted Işıklı, Karataş and Gazitepe military posts and bases in Çukurca.

PKK hasn’t made any statement about the mentioned guerrilla actions in which, according to local sources, a number of Turkish soldiers were killed and injured.

The PKK has several times proposed peaceful solutions regarding Kurdish problem, Turkey has always refused saying that it will not negotiate with “terrorists”.

Since it was established in 1984, the PKK has been fighting the Turkish state, which still denies the constitutional existence of Kurds, to establish a Kurdish state in the south east of the country. By 2012, more than 45,000 people have since been killed.

Six Turkish security forces, three Kurdish PKK rebels killed

PostAuthor: RawandKurdistani » Sat Oct 20, 2012 5:36 pm

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey's Kurdish region,— Nine people were killed in separate clashes overnight, including six members of Turkey's security forces and three Kurdish militants, officials said on Saturday, as violence showed little sign of a letup in Turkey's troubled southeast.

Three special forces police officers and three Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants were killed when gunbattles broke out along a highway in the remote Kurdish province of Hakkari bordering Iraq and Iran Kurdish regions, security sources said.

In a separate incident in Bitlis province northwest of Hakkari (northern Kurdistan), three state-backed Kurdish village guards were killed when clashes broke out between PKK militants around 30 km from the provincial capital,www.ekurd.net the governor's office said.

One Turkish soldier and three village guards were also wounded. Village guards are part of a local state-backed force that operates in towns and villages in eastern and southeastern Turkey where PKK militants are most active.

The PKK has carried out a spate of attacks on military targets in the past few months, stepping up a 28-year insurgency.

Fighting between the army and the PKK intensified over the summer, a development which Ankara sees as linked to the chaos in neighboring Syria. Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has accused Syria's President Bashar al-Assad of arming the PKK militants.

The PKK has several times proposed peaceful solutions regarding Kurdish problem, Turkey has always refused saying that it will not negotiate with “terrorists”.

Iran war can repeat Syrian scenario for PKK and PJAK

PostAuthor: RawandKurdistani » Mon Oct 29, 2012 2:31 pm

October 29, 2012

PKK must work harder for United Kurdish Front in Syria and Iran. It is time for PKK to unit Iranian Kurds with other Iranian groups.

PKK must give up some power to other Kurdish organization in Syria and Iran to safeguard united Kurdish front. Land of Kurdistan has been divided and divided many times by enemies’ of Kurds. In our time the land of Kurdistan are under occupations by Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Barzani’s KDP and Talabani’s PUK alliances with Turkey and Iran can be danger for Kurdish people future.

PKK must give them an opportunity to compete in free and true democratic election for Kurdish leadership. By giving them that opportunities’ will close that doors on them to join enemies of Kurds against Kurdish people interest.

Barzani’s KDP and Talabani’s PUK are finished politically in Kurdistan because they are involved in corruption against majority of Kurdish people in South Kurdistan. But each one of them are in control of militia organization (no longer should be called Peshmerga – because the militia betrayed Kurdish people freedom of choice in the election) with the help from occupiers’ can delay the freedom of Kurdish people.

PKK are doing well in Syria. That policy stopped Barzani mischief in Syria.

PM of Turkey and his foreign minister was hoping that Massoud Barzani will be able to divide Kurds in Turkey and Syria for them. But PKK and KCK was smarter than Turkey and Barzani by giving Kurds freedom of choice to elect their own representatives in free election.

PKK and KCK policies in Syria are successful to stop Turkey and Barzani’s mischief among Kurds in Syria.

It is aperients to the US, Israel and EU, that changing Government in Syria without Kurdish people’s help is difficult.
The change of Governments in Iran is impossible without Kurdish people’s help.

PJAK is getting very strong in Iran. They are the key for stabilities in Iran from now on.

It is time for the US Government, Israel and EU to recognize PKK and KCK to safeguard the gateway of commerce between west and 400 million people from Pakistan to Turkey and from Kurdistan to former Soviet Union countries.

PKK are in control of that gateway of Oil, Gas and others commerce’s as well. That gateway is in Kurdistan it is not under control of Turks anymore.
