Address to Honorable Baroness Symons...be extremely polite and to the point.

Main point to drive home is that this is a small issue and if you cannot see to this then what will make Kurds think that any Kurdish issues will change?

This will work better than the "racists" because, not only is it true, but it challenges them to excercise their diplomatic talents to restore faith from Kurds that they ARE acting in the interests of Kurds everywhere and not just doing the business deals that will benefit the few.

I hope this helps.

I received a reply today from KRG Bayan Rahman (Highest Representative I think) and he said they are talking to the Student Union. I think I'm going to have to make a statue to him if he succeeds. I am so happy that he is doing this. I know he is trying and I pray he gets somewhere. In any case, at least no one will think they can do this ever again without thinking long and hard about it because they will know that we are organized and they will get resistance and the government will stand up for Kurds! This shows the power of unity, and that you do not have to be millions to get action...you have to work together and NEVER GIVE UP!

hmm bayans a womans name, isnt it? anyways i could be wrong, lol

gosh those guys from the uni are so racist and backwards. have u guys seen the latest thing theyre saying about kurds. i went onto their forum and they were saying that we are a nation that they dont wanna know about and that were not fit enough to fit into their society.

i mean what is their problem? they are supposed to be representing the students, regardless of what others say to them they shouldnt reply so rudely. im definately not leaving this here, we HAVE to get a stall next year if not this year. theyre so rude!!!!!!

That are just students. Don't spent your time on the forum it's useless.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

I received this e-mail from one of the Kurdish students at Loughborough after I sent him a letter we put together to give to the Vice Chancellor at LSU. The students wrote a response I guess they have sent it to kurdishmedia now, you can read it here:

i liked the last part of the statement , where it says
"At the end of this long story, this should remind us of an email we received from the Loughborough Student Union asking us to “please understand this simple fact; Kurdistan is not a country”. To that, we say: Loughborough Student Union regulations, our occupiers’ countries rules even international law cannot change this simple fact: Kurdistan exists and will continue to do so"

i sent the school administrator a link to my blog and his replay was not ever pleasent or scholarly. he has confused iraq with his own country and compares our struggle with that of the irish and the scots.

I received a very suspicious email from the ISA forum, and I'm afraid that it is some kind of spyware. Did anyone else get anything?

Also, the KRG has arranged for their to be a "kurdish day" at LSU, but you know what...I think this is a case of what in the US they would call "separate but equal" which was ruled against the law. We all know that people will not attend in the numbers they attend the International Day, so why pretend they will. Why not instead use the money to hire a solicitor to send them a letter about the law, or to hire someone to get a straight answer from the foreign office...or even to use the money to teach young Kurds about the nature of the relationship between the KRG and the UK government, and have a Kurdish Leadership conference that will explain things, give you methods of handling conflict, tell you who to contact for advice...something really useful that will teach people how to get things DONE, and empower them with the tools and techniques that will work? I am already working on LSU next year....I WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON THIS ONE! If I have to, I think I will try to enroll, and give you my booth (pick one) and let them eat that! Or perhaps we could find someone who would do that...you know...the way the Chinese allowed the Taiwanese to have the China booth (sarcasm, sarcasm) but I bet they don't think that anyone is nationally ego-less enough to do that...and I might just prove them wrong next year.

I really need a lot more information, and it's very hard to get, but I will be writing and calling, and working and working...because I will NOT let these nasty punks do this 4 years in a row. Can't someone work on a campaign to change the elected student union representatives? There must be more Kurd friendly candidates? Let's see about getting them elected? Can we do that?

Let's plan....let's make sure next year in Kurdistan at least means "next year in Kurdistan's International Day booth!
