At last, Kurdistan is independent, in cyber space

London (KurdishMedia.com) 8 May, 2005: At last, after some campaigning, Kurdistan has been recognized as an independent region, albeit in cyber space.
This comes after the popular news website http://www.OnlineNewspapers.com has agreed to include Kurdistan as a separate independent region among the recognized countries of the world.
Normally, the list of countries is obtained from the CIA website, which lists officially recognized countries and regions of the world.
This outstanding website has compiled almost all electronic and print newspapers of all the countries and regions of the world.
The sticking point raised by the owner/webmaster of the website, who also manages many other websites, was that Kurdistan is not listed on the website of the CIA.
However, after arguing the case that, although not fully recognized as states, Catalonia, Wales and Scotland are also regions that enjoy a degree of independence similar to the status of Kurdistan, he then happily agreed to add it to the list of Middle East countries.
The entries of Kurdistan region have been compiled on the basis of the most prominent and continuously updated Kurdish news sites on the web.
The site also allows readers to contact the webmaster to tell him about other good Kurdish news websites.
