Yezidis gather in Lalish for sacred Jamaya festival

Yezidis are gathering in Lalish for Jamaya Sheikhadi festival, the Gathering and Feast of Seven Days. The festival, held annually in early October is a sacred time for Yezidis to make a pilgrimage to their holiest shrine in Lalish.

Every evening, a ritual dance is performed by men dressed in white followed by a procession behind a sacred torch.

On the fifth night of the week-long festival, a bull is sacrificed. The meat is cooked and shared among the pilgrims.

The timing of the festival is to welcome autumn. Yezidis pray for good rains during the coming winter in order to have a bountiful harvest in the spring and summer.

The flight ban imposed by Baghdad has prevented some Yezidis living abroad from attending this year, as well as foreigners and media wanting to observe the festival, organizers said.

'If she had breasts, she was OK to rape': Yazidi women and girls tell of life as ISIS sex slaves who 'had to be sexually abused to become Muslims'

Woman revealed how ISIS terrorists pushed them up against walls to grope them

If women had breasts, they were taken and raped, if not they would be cast aside

One sufferer said she became pregnant after being raped by an ISIS terrorist

Yazidi woman threw herself down the stairs in an attempt to force a miscarriage

Women told her that in order for her to become a Muslim, she had to be raped
Yazidi survivors have told of their horrific lives as ISIS sex slaves after they were caught and held as prisoners by the terror group.

One woman revealed how women would be pushed up against a wall as jihadis would make their way down the line groping their chests.

If they had breasts, they were sent to be raped, but if they did not they were thrown aside for three months before suffering the same ordeal again.

The brutal revelations come from a paper published by Nikita Malik of the Henry Jackson Society titled Trafficking Terror, How Modern Slavery and Sexual Violence Fund Terrorism.

In it, the author talked to one woman known simply as Victim One, who opened up on her horrific ordeal.

Victim One became pregnant as a result of being raped by an ISIS fighter and tried to throw herself down the stairs to force a miscarriage.

She revealed how girls were sexually abused in the same room and that when she attempted to escape the terrorists' clutches, she was raped by six men during the same night as punishment.

Victim One was repeatedly sold and she saw children being raped.

Female Muslims told her that in order to become accepted into the Islamic faith, women had to be raped.

When Victim One, who spoke to the British government last year, asked about why they were doing this to her, Islamic State fighters replied that they were implementing the Prophet Muhammad's law.

Women’s bodies are used strategically to lure fighters into Islamic State, but also to retain fighters.

The organisation pays fighters for each additional sex slave they acquire, as well as for children born within the ‘caliphate’.

Victims also talked of a 27-page document which sets out the rules for ISIS fighters and how to treat their sex slaves.

The instructions shine a light on the barbaric way the group live their lives.

It says, 'slaves can be beaten for disciplinary purposes but not for gratification or torture'.

Shockingly, it also states, 'slaves are property so they can be bought, sold, or given as a gift. It is permitted to have intercourse with a slave who has not reached puberty if she is fit for it. If not, she can be enjoyed without intercourse'.

SHOCK - HORROR

But NOT enough of either to make saving the captives a priority :((

I wish to thank the Mail for their continued support of Yazidis when most other media outlets appear to have forgotten about the plight of the Yazidis :ymapplause:

I ask that the Mail go further and plead for the lives of these women and children

Also, I ask that the Mail requests the International Community secure the Yazidi homeland and provide new homes for the Yazidis in their religious homeland

I further request that the Mail starts the ball rolling by sponsoring either a Medical or Educational facility in the Yazidi homeland

At this moment in time, there are countless THOUSANDS of innocent Yazidis living in refugee camps and many more THOUSANDS surviving as best they can outside the camps because it is not safe for them within the camps

Most camps contain ISIS supporters and some even contain ISIS families - all of them cause trouble for the Yazidis and all of them terrify the Yazidis - Yazidis should NOT be placed in the same camps

Once again, I thank the Mail for their continued support in publicizing the plight of these oh so gentle people

THANK YOU :ymapplause:

Shiite Hashd al-SHaabi controls Yezidi town of Shingal

The mainly Shiite Hashd al-Shaabi are now in control of the Yezidi town of Shingal or Sinjar, west of Mosul, after the withdrawal of the Kurdish Peshmerga from their positions, a day after the Iraqi Iraqi-led forces controlled the oil-rich city of Kirkuk, a Kurdish security official told Rudaw.

Then, the Kurdish Peshmerga forces engaged in a 20-minute fighting when attacked by the Hashd forces east of Shingal. The Peshmerga forces repelled this attack, Rudaw's Tahsin Qasim reported.

The ISIS militants captured Shingal on August 3, 2014. It was liberated in November 2015 by a coalition of Kurdish forces, including the Peshmerga and the fighters of the Kurdistan Workers's Party.

In May, Iranian-Backed Shiite Hashd al-Shaabi forces launched a military campaign named “Shingal Martyr’s” that retook a number villages in the Shingal region including the Yezidi’s Kocho, the symbol of ISIS atrocities.

When ISIS militants attacked Shingal and its surroundings in August 2014, they arrested thousands of Yezidis, many from the village of Kocho. Some of them were killed collectively in the village and the fates of the rest are unclear to date.

Shingal falls under the disputed zones claimed by both Erbil and Baghdad and subject to Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution. The Shiite forces controlled the Yezidi villages of Tal Banat, Tal Qasab, Kocho and Gir Azer in Shingal from the ISIS group in May.

It's an agreement inter-Yezidis. The commander of Yezidis Peshmergas made a deal to leave Sinjar to the Yezidis Hashd.

I don't know if the KRG was aware of such agreement. Read that some Kurdish officials blamed that, but without name nor quote.

Iraq is just regaining the territories it left in 2014. KRG shrunk behind its borders of 2003.

The question is : will Iraq stop or does it wish to seize all Kurdistan ?

YBŞ: Only the Êzidî people have a say in the future of Shengal

The YBŞ Command stated that they will defend the will of the people at all costs, saying; ““Only the free will of the Êzidî people has a say in the future of Shengal. We will defend this will at any cost tomorrow like we did yesterday.”

The Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) Command issued a written statement on the attack from Kirkuk to Shengal by the Iraqi army and the Hashd al-Shaabi forces. The statement stressed that the issues of the people of Shengal can only be resolved through a consensus and dialogue and that the YBŞ-YJŞ forces keep their current position.

The YBŞ Command said they make a point of not fighting any forces that are not aggressive towards them, but “whoever has their eye on these lands, will meet the great resistance of the people.”

YBŞ Command statement is as follows:

“We the YBŞ and YJŞ forces have acted as the self defense forces of our people after the genocide in 2014 and have defended Shengal at the cost of martyrs and strife. We have made a point of not fighting with any force that hasn’t been aggressive towards us.

“WE WILL DEFEND OUR SACRED LANDS”

We as the YBŞ and YJŞ forces keep our current position. Our positions are set up the same. There hasn’t been a change in that area. Like we defended our sacred lands against the invading ISIS gangs during the genocide, we will defend them with our people again today with the same resolve.

We have always been working towards resolving all issues through dialogue and democratic reconciliation. We believe the problems of the people of Shengal can also be resolved through a consensus and dialogue.

“ONLY THE ÊZIDÎ PEOPLE HAVE A SAY ON THE FUTURE OF SHENGAL”

But, whoever sets their sights on these lands liberated at great cost of martyrs and strife will be met with the great resistance of the people. Only the free will of the Êzidî people has a say in the future of Shengal. We will defend this will at any cost tomorrow like we did yesterday.

Our people who have not thought twice about the price they have had to pay in the face of hardship of all kinds will continue to act together with the YBŞ to establish their free and democratic future.”
