KNC Member Abduction by PYD-Affiliated Group
The Kurdish National Council (KNC) has denounced the kidnapping of one of its members by an armed group affiliated with the Democratic Union Party (PYD), in Syria
Talib Hassan Ibrahim, a member of the Local Council of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria (KDP-S), was reportedly abducted on February 8th.
The KNC issued a statement on Sunday strongly condemning the kidnapping of Hassan Ibrahim and calling for his immediate release. The organization urged the PYD to reveal Ibrahim's location and ensure his safe return to his family, according to Kurdistan 24.
This incident follows a pattern of targeted abductions of KNC members by PYD-affiliated groups. In a similar case on January 25th, Ekrem Hussein, a member of the General Board of the KNC, was reportedly abducted by a group affiliated with the PYD, prompting widespread concern and condemnation.
