i have the same experience with Aremnians, while I kept some weeks of my life , sending LOVE message in their forum to Armenina

some of them kept on insuting me as Kurd.

offcoruse there are some Pro-Kud Armeinian but they are so LOW ,
it isnt that much that I expected.

and now you say about Assyriaans !

those Armenians who didnt like kurds, belive they are muslem ...
they couldnt belive that most of the kurds dont wear hejab...

i think we must give them more information about kurds so they stop hating us.
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then YOU WIN !

assyrians are eduated arabs as they like to be refered. tarik aziz was an assyrian. i've heard SOME assyraisn praise saddam for gassing and suppressing kurds for our traitory. i know not all of them were bad and we shouldnt get paranoid but we must also never forget those who stood by us and fought and those who did nothing. Assyrians were quiet and peaceful all these years but now, with saddam out of the picture, they've suddenly gained a voice.

Assyrians aren't Arabs right?? They were there before Arabs along with the Kurds.
The Assyrians say that the Kurds messed with Assyrian vote and that the Kurds tried to "Kurdify" Assyrian villages.

But despites this, the Assyrian news agency reports a lot about Kurds, not only in Iraqi Kurdistan and Iraq, but also in other parts from Kurdistan.
Also Kurdish news agencies report about them.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Ouch Arcan, that's a bit harsh... did you have one particular Assyrian in mind when you wrote that

We mustn't forget that Assyrians are indigenous to the region and suffered greatly under the Baathist regime, just like the Kurds.

For sure, there were those who sided with evil, but on the whole Assyrians despise Saddams government and Aziz is not your typical example of a 'normal' Assyrian.

I'd have to agree that they have certainly become more vocal now the threat of Saddam has been removed, but it is only right that they are heard and have a voice in the region. I think the KRGs policies are of support and preservation and I hope they stand by their words. The Kurds know how it is to be the oppressed minority, God forbid they treat others the same way and I don't believe they do.

As for Assyrians hating Kurds, sure they do, they hate the fact that the Kurds participated in their genocide alongisde the Turks, they hate the fact that Kurds are claiming what was originally Assyrian land as part of Kurdistan and more recently, they claim they were stopped from participating in the elections... they have genuine complaints that need to be acknowledged.

That said, I'm sure with dialogue and support, the Assyrians and the Kurds can work together in the region and build a nation, a great, multi-cultural nation where everyone can speak their language and practice their religion freely, educate their children and enjoy their diverse cultures, all without fear of death :)

First of all, there are no Assyrians left, the great Meds destroyed them thousands of years ago, and this fact is mentioned in the bible. Second of all, there are Keldans and serianies that live among us. The term Assyrians was given to Serrians by Britons in 1800’s because serianies were not Catholics as the Keldans and because they wanted to use them as a power. Most of them hate us more than Turks do and see us ass sub-humans.
The main reason that they hate us is to be fund in the history of the region, they acuse us for killing them and destroying their empire in the past. They hate us even more when they come to Europe and the us, so far I have just met one Keldans that does not hate the Kurds, he was a peshmarga in the Ailol upraising. The funny think is that the other Keldans and even his children hate him and all Kurds.

Best wishes

First let me make it clear, that No assryians were really oppressed during Saddams reign. They loved that man, he kept the islamists at bay for them, and oh did the many role in for them. There sad that his gone, trust me. I dotn know about them being oppressed a thousand years ago, but, i dont think that was in our hands. As for getting along with kurds. Here in the US we get along pretty well, I mean, there are a lot of Chaldeans that sing at our weddings, matter of fact, most wedding singers here are Chaldean, and many of them speak kurdish. So, i dotn know. But there nothing anyways, especially now that good old saddam is gone. there running scared of the islamists, to the west, some of gone to kurdistan, but few. Again Assryians, are basically nothing now, all they do is fuss and holler, and the "KRG" gives them a couple of seats.

i agree with you kassem. like kurds, assyrians/chaldeans want only to be recognized and not ignored. they have a right to the land as much as kurds. we should not refer to them as kurds with assyrian orgins. do you get my drift?

I myself am supporter of every week, I am more human than Kurd.

in fact the reason that I try to help Kurds, is , i find kurds been oprrssed by their occupiers... not becasue I am Kur by Genetic.

the fact is, even if assyrians hate us, they dont have any power to harm us...

they are minority. we must give them the feeling that they are safe .
and we want to have happy life with them.
not like turks to make them change their nationality ...

If i was krudistan's president, first of all I would make every minotiry in kurdisatn as happy as possible (by giving them their FULL rights.)so they love kurdistan....

This is a wise choice, Medya. People become more free as they help others be free.
