Ochalan refused to request retrail

PostAuthor: dyaoko » Sat Jun 04, 2005 4:04 am

Last month the European court of Human Rights ruled that the Kurdish leader should be retried on grounds that his 1999 trial, in which he was sentenced to death for treason, was unfair. That sentenced was commuted to life in prison in 2002.
Turkish authorities said they would abide by the European court ruling.

in order for a new trial to take place Ocalan must request it and he has refused to do so on grounds he would not receive a fair trial in Turkey, Tugluk said.

"Ocalan has said that he refuses to play the main role in a play orchestrated by Turkey," she added, pointing out that Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul had said that the Kurdish leader was likely to receive the same sentence if judged "100 times".

Tugluk said Ocalan would like a retrial to take place outside of Turkey and under the auspices of a special tribunal set up by the Council of Europe. That court could be similar to the one in The Hague which is currently judging former Yugoslav strongman Slobodan Milosevic.

He should have taken this decision in 1999, since the first hour of his capture. Now it doesn't matter.

It WOULD matter...

Let me just tell you I opted for "YES" and that I did this because it is logical to expect what you statistically can prove... and I can PROVE that that man is and "idiot" - thats Greek for "has no understanding of politics" and at the same time that he is the biggest donkey on the face of this planet...

He should have said -when he was captured:"I want a lawer, and a translator - I only speak Kurdish"... (You who say he wasn't in a position to do so are VERY wrong and need to go through the situation in your heads a few morw times as you simply must have been very young at the time it happend in 1999--- why? Because THE WORLD was watching and therefore Turkey could not deny him his BASIC rights... If Turkey had said - forget about that - then there would have been a reaction from the UN and EU and so on and so forth.. GET IT???

Still - it WOULD matter if the stupid man was found "not-guilty"- because you see - NOW he could say: "They drugged me... and I wasnæt ware of my self- so I can not stand responsible for what I have said and accepted in my last trial- I ask of the judges to exclude ANY evidence gathered from myself from the period I was captive and prisoner of Turkey"... SIMPLE AND CLEAN CUT!

You left out the important part of that sentence... "idiot" means "some one who doesn't understand politics" in Greek... And THAT is what one can prove... Just look at his choice of start - Communist... was that a smart policy? NOPE... he is an idiot in the Greek meaning... ;)

AND you forgot to even MENTION how many friends the Kurds DO have and how many ENEMIES Turkey has... Greece would be the first to support Apos case, and US and Scandinavian countries... and well I know you are gonna say Greece wouldn't have and that they imprisoned him till they gae him to Turkey - that is wrong.. very wrong - they were HIDING him... and then CIA found him anyway... He had a Greek Passport - this should show that you are wrong about that...

This is the GREEK passport of Ocalan.
Greek Goverment hide him for long time till give greek passport as he is from cyprus. smart maybe turks check the greek database but they not the greek part database of cyprus. After all CIA find us. then we hide you to any available embassy in world. after many months ocalan detected to an embassy of greece somewhere in africa. we make the last step. we hide him till to give original greek papers. so he can come to greece and live without no one touch him. by way to embassy - airport have many head shots about. at last into that. 3 greeks killed there and CIA take ocalan and give him to turkey :-/

In any case, Öcalan had no need to flee from Italia. Itlian would have never give him to Turks. He left Roma in spite of all advices.

People seem to forget mistakes and glorify their leaders including Northern Kurds, Southern Kurds, Eastern Kurds, etc.

When I posted a picture of Talabani with Saddam in an article about him, when he became president lot of PUK's were offended.
When I talk about Öcalans trial and his mistakes, all PKK'ers are offended.

Pff
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.
