1.5 million Kurds to protest on 14th of August to demand rights

An estimated 1.5 Million Kurds are to participate in a popular demonstration in Kurdistan on the 14th of August 2005, one day before the expected announcement of the completion of the Iraqi permanent constitution, reported the Kurdish newspaper , Aso.

[More:]

Quoting sources within the popular Kurdistan Referendum Movement, Aso reported that a large popular demonstration is planned to be held in the four major cities in south [Iraqi] Kurdistan on the 14th of August, to support the Kurdish demands and the Kurdish leadership in Baghdad.

The demonstrators main demand will be; enshrining a federal Kurdistan structure within Iraq‘s permanent constitution, determining Iraqi Kurdistan’s borders, and normalization of the situations in Kirkuk.
The protest will be held by popular Kurdistan Referendum Movement.
The Kurdistan Referendum Movement is an independent non-politically affiliated group established in 2003 and works for self-determination rights for the people of Kurdistan.

How can they technically block 1 sattellite channel from the air?

I agree about the need for an western based independant kurdish tv.. perhaps it's an idea to begin with webstreaming over the internet and when there's enough funding it can grow into a sattellite channel. There's no political party who is going to sponsor it (perhaps only the referendum movement) so you need a lot of advertisements.
