
Erbil Hosts Commemoration of Renowned
- Kurdish Poet Hemin Mukriyani
A delegation of artists and writers from Eastern Kurdistan, led by Salah Payaniani, manager of Hemin's home, traveled from Iran to take part in the event, underscoring the enduring cultural and literary ties among Kurdish communities across borders.
Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw welcomed the visiting delegation and praised the vital role that Kurdish artists and writers from Eastern Kurdistan have played in enriching Kurdish literature and preserving the nation’s cultural identity.
- “I hope your time in Erbil will be peaceful and joyful,” Governor Khoshnaw said. “Your contributions to Kurdish art and literature are deeply valued, and I wish you success in honoring the memory of the great poet Hemin Mukriyani.”
Hemin Mukriyani, born in 1921 in Mahabad, is widely regarded as one of the most influential modern Kurdish poets and intellectuals, known for his lyrical poetry and efforts to elevate Kurdish language and literature.
