Massive Protests in Support of Gaza

On Friday, Arab countries were the scene of massive demonstrations in support of the Palestinians who are in the Gaza Strip surviving under the Israeli bombardment

Tens of thousands of citizens took to the streets in Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, Yemen, Syria and Bahrain to demonstrate their solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

Palestinian authorities reported that the death toll from the Israeli bombardments in Gaza now reaches 1,799 dead, to which are added 46 Palestinians murdered by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank. There have also been 6,388 injured people recorded so far.

JORDAN. On Friday, hundreds of people gathered in the capital city of Amman and on the Jordanian-Palestinian border, despite the express prohibition by the authorities to avoid possible altercations in that area.

While waving Jordanian and Palestinian flags, participants chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian resistance and demanded the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador and the cessation of all agreements with "the Zionist enemy."

Jordanian security forces attacked thousands of protesters who took to the Palestinian border. Protests have erupted in Jordan and Lebanon after the Palestinian resistance declared this Friday, Islam's most important day of the week, the "Friday of the Al-Aqsa Flood."

LEBANON: In the Lebanese capital Beirut, thousands of people gathered at the Mohamed al Amin mosque, where they waved Palestinian flags and shouted slogans against Israel and its occupying army.

Other areas of the city also saw concentrations in front of mosques at the end of the Muslim Friday prayer, motorcycle parades or symbolic marches organized by social and political organizations of different ideologies.

EGYPT: After the mass prayer in Cairo's main mosque, Al-Azhar, hundreds of citizens chanted slogans in support of the Palestinians that were repeated in other cities in Egypt.

While this was happening, it was learned that the Turkish Red Cross was preparing humanitarian aid to be sent to Gaza as soon as possible through the Rafah crossing, as reported by TRT World.

IRAQ: Called by the influential Shiite cleric Muqtada al Sadr, hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Tahrir Square in downtown Baghdad, where the largest march against Israel's attacks on Gaza took place.

"Death to Israel, Death to the United States" were the phrases most chanted by thousands of people outraged by the silence of Western countries regarding the genocide that Israel is about to perpetrate in the Gaza Strip.

Protesters burned and trampled Israeli flags while condemning the deaths of children, women, and the elderly as a result of indiscriminate Israeli bombing.

YEMEN: In Sanaa, the capital city controlled by the Shiite Houthi rebels, protesters chanted slogans such as "Allah is the greatest", "Death to America", "Death to Israel" and "Here we are, Al Aqsa", which It is a slogan that refers to Jerusalem, the third sacred place of Islam.

In areas controlled by the internationally recognized government, pro-Palestinian protesters gathered in their thousands in the cities of Marib, Taiz and Mukalla.

Calls On Muslim Countries

Iraq's Sadist Movement on Friday called on Muslim countries to shut down Israeli embassies in their countries in protest to the escalating conflict between Palestine and Israel

Today, an estimated million people gathered at Baghdad's Tahrir Square to express solidarity with the people of Palestine as the war continues to escalate.

Iraqi Shia cleric and the head of the Sadist Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, urged Muslim countries to be united and unanimous in their stance on the war between Israel and Palestine.

He called on them to also join efforts to send humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, which is reportedly besieged with no access to deliver aid.

Moreover, the Iraqi federal government has directed its relevant departments to dispatch humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza in light of an escalating conflict with neighboring Israel. The situation in the region intensified when Palestinian forces launched a surprise attack on Israel last week.

Recent media reports indicate that this surprise early-morning assault, coupled with subsequent Israeli counterattacks, has led to at least 1,900 Palestinian fatalities and over 5,000 injuries. In Israel, the conflict has resulted in the loss of at least 1,300 lives and over 3,300 injuries over the course of this week alone.

1,900 killed, 7,696 injured in Gaza:

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) stated that Hamas's operation on "Israel" cannot serve as grounds for justification of the extensive destruction inflicted on Gaza

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza has called for an immediate cessation of the actions by the occupying forces, which have resulted in 1,900 fatalities, including 614 children and 370 women, along with injuries to 7,696 individuals, including 2,000 children and 1,400 women.

The ministry expressed that the occupation had deceived the population, compelling them to evacuate, only to further intensify their actions and cause the death and injury of 200 citizens, including both martyrs and the wounded.

"We demand an immediate halt to the crimes of the occupation, which claimed the lives of 1,900 martyrs, including 614 children and 370 women, and injured 7,696 citizens with various injuries, including 2,000 children and 1,400 women," a statement issued by the ministry read, adding that "the occupation deceived the citizens and forced them to flee, then doubled its crimes by targeting them, and claimed the lives of 200 citizens, including martyrs and wounded."
Hamas operation not grounds for mass destruction

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) stated on Friday that what they described as " Hamas's attack" on "Israel" cannot serve as justification for the extensive destruction inflicted on Gaza.

The ICRC also emphasized that all parties involved must adhere to their legal obligations when conducting warfare.

"But those [Israeli attacks on Gaza] cannot justify the limitless destruction of Gaza. The parties must not neglect their legal obligations regarding the methods and means used to wage war," the ICRC's statement read.

The statement further asserts that Israeli orders for Gaza residents to evacuate their residences, while simultaneously restricting access to essential services like food, water, and electricity, contravene international humanitarian law.

"When military powers order people to leave their homes, all possible measures must be taken to ensure the population has access to basic necessities like food and water and that members of the same family are not separated," the ICRC said.

On Tuesday, the occupation's Security Minister Yoav Gallant has ordered to cut off electricity, water, and food from Gaza in the aftermath of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, while also referring to the Palestinians in Gaza as "human animals", who he will have to deal with "accordingly".

This has resulted in exacerbated pressure on hospitals in Gaza which are facing a shortage of fuel, risking the shutdown of essential services and endangering the lives of the wounded and sick.

On Thursday, Gaza’s Health Ministry announced that hospitals in the Gaza Strip are at full capacity and that patients “are lying on the floor” due to the severity of the occupation's aggression, further warning that health services in Gaza are now at a critical stage.

Earlier today, Gaza's Ministry of Health announced that 1,799 people have been martyred, including 533 children, as a direct result of "Israel's" targeting of civilians in the Gaza Strip.

Health authorities also said that 9 martyrs and 130 injuries were reported on Friday in the occupied West Bank as a result of ongoing confrontations between Palestinians from one side and illegal settlers and occupation forces from another.

Later in the day, sources reported that Reuter's photographer, Issam Abdallah, had been martyred by an Israeli strike in the town of Aalma al-Chaeb, southern Lebanon.

Two other Reuters Journalists were injured, their names are Thaer al-Sudani and Maher Nazeh.

Resistance ready for long war

A Palestinian Resistance source in Gaza confirms to Al Mayadeen that there is no shortage of manpower or weapons

The number of missiles used by the Resistance in Gaza so far did not exceed 10 percent of its inventory, a source in the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza told Al Mayadeen on Saturday, confirming that the Resistance has the ability to engage in a months-long war with the Israeli occupation entity.

Resistance groups and fighters are operating according to previously laid out plans, the source continued, confirming that there is no shortage in manpower or weapons and all capabilities are being utilized as a part of a long-term tactic.

The source further revealed that the Resistance has a solid defensive plan that covers the entire area of the Gaza Strip and will be activated in due time.

Thousands of rockets and projectiles have been launched by the Palestinian Resistance since the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. Targets included settlements, Ben Gurion airport, military sites, and troop gatherings.

Gaza Resistance has also launched several strategic long-range missiles, including the "Ayyash 250" missile by Al-Qassam that targeted the Israeli Northern Region Command in Safad, located around 200km away from the Strip.

Israeli Channel 12 reported on Friday that since the beginning of the operation, "over 1000 rockets have been fired at Ashkelon." The repeated targeting comes after Hamas' Al-Qassam warned "Asheklon" settlers earlier this week to evacuate, vowing that the Resistance will continue to rain rockets on it until the Israeli occupation stops targeting civilians in Gaza to forcefully displace them.

'Crush the Israeli army'

As the operation entered its eighth day, Israeli casualties are still on the rise, recording over 1,500 deaths and more than 3,400 injuries in the latest update.

Suffering significant battle defeats, the Israeli occupation entity seems to be moving toward deciding to launch a ground invasion of Gaza. Hundreds of thousands of Israeli reserve forces have been mobilized so far, while Israeli media are reporting that the majority of forces are heading to sites near Gaza.

However, Al-Qassam has warned the Israelis against such an action.

Commenting on emerging reports of an Israeli land assault, Al-Qassam Spokesperson Abu Obeida said, "If [Israel] dares to enter Gaza, we will crush its army."

"Al-Qassam Brigades is in control of the course of the battle, and we underline our preparedness in terms of defense. Our military infrastructure and armament enable us to efficiently defend ourselves."

After the Resistance succeeded in maintaining control over several settlements and land routes connecting their positions with Gaza, settlers still residing in settlements up to 4 km from Gaza were asked by the Israeli occupation army to stay in fortified places.

Israeli media admitted on Friday that "despite all the airstrikes, what we see today is not a significant military achievement," indicating that "what we see is not a significant impact on Hamas’ military capabilities."

Iraq's PMF ready to aid Palestine militarily

PMF chief Faleh al-Fayyad tells Al Mayadeen that Iraq will fulfill all of its duties toward the Palestinian people in light of the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Iraq will fulfill all of its duties toward the Palestinian people on numerous fronts, including aid and military assistance, Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) chairman Faleh Al-Fayyad said on Saturday as occupied Palestine suffers from a monstrous Israeli aggression.

"The plans to displace the people of Gaza are unrealistic and cannot be implemented," Al-Fayyad told Al Mayadeen. "It is impossible for Iraq to be a gateway to inflict harm on Palestinians; it will be a platform to support them."
"Operation Al-Aqsa Flood showed the Israeli occupation as shaken, and the United States is a key accomplice in the [Israeli] occupation's crimes," he said. "The Resistance's actions are all a reaction to the occupation's crimes."

The Iraqi Resistance chief underlined that his country would be the main pillar of support for the Palestinian Resistance, pledging to not allow the United States to support the occupation against the Palestinian people.

The Iraqi Parliament, al-Fayyad revealed, will hold an extraordinary session on Sunday in support of Gaza, and will collect donations to that end.

Regarding the results of the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, al-Fayyad told Al Mayadeen that "the consequences of what happened in the Gaza Strip are significant, and their results will soon become apparent, especially in the issue of normalization."

Paramount support for Palestine

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani condemned in his meeting with the Iraqi Coordination Framework's forces "the ongoing Zionist aggression in the occupied territories and the direct targeting of civilians.

The Secretary-General of Iraq's resistance group Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, Qais Khazali, issued a press statement in which he said the group was "ready to assist Palestine on the ground if asked."

"We are prepared to provide financial and moral support through demonstrations and protests," he added.

Earlier in the week, Iraq's Sayyed al-Shuhadaa Brigades warned Washington against any interference in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

According to Lebanese news outlet Al-Ahed, the group stressed that "Palestine is not Ukraine" and that any interference or support the US extends to the Israeli entity would make US bases in the region targets for the Resistance.

The Group expressed that any support would be met with retaliation and zero red lines would remain uncrossed.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened Monday to "change the Middle East" in "Israel's" war on Gaza, as the occupation launches continuous airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza has resulted in over 2,228 Palestinian martyrs. Many Palestinians remain unaccounted for under the rubble of collapsed residential buildings due to Israeli brutal airstrikes, however it is reported that 8,744 individuals have been injured so far.

Iraq long been supportive of Resistance

Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Deputy Secretary-General Abu Ahmad Fouad, in an interview with Al-Mayadeen, affirmed that "the Palestinian territories bear witness to what Iraq has contributed to the Palestinian cause," noting that "the cemetery of Iraqi martyrs in Jenin is testament to this."

"The Iraqi people have always supported Palestine and have been involved in the ranks of Palestinian Resistance, which included a large number of Iraqi fighters," confirming that "the Axis of Resistance has become a tangible reality today, not just empty words."

"The brothers in Yemen and Iraq are ready to stand with us whenever the need arises, by the tens of thousands," he added. "The quality of missiles and the management of the battle by the Resistance will change according to the evolution of the confrontation."

Fouad called for "Arab consensus in rejecting any attempt to isolate the Palestinians from Gaza."

Mass-killing new bombs on Gaza

Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh claims that a bombing using upgraded JDAMS is planned to occur on Sunday or Monday

The Israeli occupation is planning an aggression on Gaza using a new version of Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) bombs capable of killing all people within "one-half mile" from the dropping site, US investigative journalist Seymour Hersh said on Sunday, citing sources
According to Hersh, the attack is scheduled between Sunday and Monday.

"The current Israeli war planners are convinced, the insider told me, that the upgraded version of JDAMs with larger warheads would penetrate deep enough underground before detonating - thirty to fifty meters - with the blast and resulting sound wave ‘killing all within one-half mile’ … The insider also said the current planning calls for the JDAMs attack if authorized, to come as early as Sunday or Monday, depending on the efficacy the forced expulsion of Gazi City and south proceeds, with a ground invasion to follow immediately," Hersh said on his Substack column.

Earlier this week, Hersh warned in another report that an Israeli "national security veteran" said that the occupation is pondering whether to use a "Leningrad approach" to starve out "Hamas forces" in Gaza and avoid an invasion, something the source said may lead to the murder of nearly 100,000 civilians.

"The big debate today … is whether to starve Hamas out or kill as many as 100,000 people in Gaza,” adding that, “Hamas now only has a two or three-day supply of purified water and that, along with a lack of food … may be enough to flush all the Hamas [forces] out," he said then citing the source.

The Palestinian Health Ministry revealed Sunday that the total number of Palestinians martyred due to the Israeli ongoing brutal aggression on Gaza has surpassed 2,200, and more than 8,700 were wounded.

Raising the alarm on the Israeli atrocities, the Civil Defense spokesperson in Gaza confirmed that 90% of the Israeli occupation bombings targeted homes and residential buildings. The United Nations also stated on Saturday that the ongoing aggression on the Strip has - as of the date in which the report was released - destroyed over 5,540 housing units and 3,750 were damaged and rendered uninhabitable.

Furthermore, the UN warned on Friday that over 430,000 Palestinians have been displaced due to the attack on residential neighborhoods in the Strip as food, water, and medical supplies are running out, and the health sector is on the brink of collapse due to the blockade, which has entered its sixth day.

On the forced-displacement policy the Israelis are implementing in their mass-bombing attacks on residential areas in Gaza, the renowned journalist said that "Tel Aviv" is attempting to convince Qatar to join Egypt in funding a camp in Gaza that can contain one million Palestinians fleeing their homes.

"In the short term, I have been told by an Israeli insider Israel has been trying to convince Qatar, which at the urging of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was a long-time financial supporter of Hamas, to join with Egypt in funding a tent city for the million or more refugees awaiting across the border."

On that pursuit, the Israeli entity is confident that Cairo will agree to host now-homeless one million displaced Palestinians, citing the recent incident with US Senator Robert Menendez, where he was accused of corruption "stemming from his business dealings with senior Egyptian officials, and the alleged passing of intelligence about persons serving at the US Embassy in Cairo."

The Israeli occupation army reported a provisional toll on Sunday, stating that operations conducted by the Resistance in Gaza have caused the death of 286 soldiers. According to the most recent updates released by the Israeli military, over 1,500 Israelis were confirmed killed and over 150 captured by the Resistance.

In a report published on Sunday, Israel Hayom newspaper brought to light a growing discord within the Israeli occupation, as conflicting objectives emerge at both military and political levels concerning a possible ground invasion of Gaza.

On Saturday, Hamas' al-Qassam Brigades released a video warning Israeli occupation forces (IOF) against invading the Gaza Strip. The video titled "This is what awaits you when you enter Gaza," is a stern warning to the IOF as the Brigades displayed some of their defensive tactics and capabilities in case "Israel" decides to proceed with a ground invasion against Gaza.

In the same context, Al-Qassam Brigades spokesperson Abu Obeida underlined Thursday that the Palestinian Resistance would utterly crush the Israeli occupation if it dared enter Gaza.

"The notion that the enemy could expand the battle to a land invasion will push us to utilize our options that would be very costly for the enemy in terms of manpower and vehicles," he warned.

International laws broken by Israel

The former Greek Minister of Finance calls the condemnation list "a chapter-and-verse list of war crimes that Israel has committed since the Hamas Offensive of 7th October. "

Former Greek Minister of Finance Yanis Varoufakis has taken to his official website to provide what he calls "a 'chapter-and-verse’ list of war crimes that Israel has committed since the Hamas Offensive of 7th October. "

Rome Statute of the International
Criminal Court – Genocide

Article 6(c):

Deliberately inflicting on a group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part

Imposition of a complete siege of the Gaza Strip, totally depriving Gazans of electricity, food, and fuel, and tightening even more the existing 16-year-old blockade thereof.
Article 25(3)(c):

For the purpose of facilitating the commission of such a crime, aids, abets or otherwise assists in its commission or its attempted commission, including providing the means for its commission

"Israel" purchases 10,000 riffles for Israeli settlers.
Article 25(3)(e):
Directly and publicly incites others to commit genocide

“We are fighting human animals, and we act accordingly," Israeli Security Minister Yoav Gallant.
War crimes – Grave breaches of the Wilful killings of the 1949 Geneva Conventions

Article 8(2)(a)(i) Wilfull killing:

"Israel’s" targeting of the “Shaban family home, killing all six members, two parents and their children."

Since Saturday, more than 55 Palestinian families have been scrapped from official records, as they were massacred by the Israeli occupation.
b]Article 8(2)(a)(ii): Torture and inhuman treatment[/b]

Severe psychological suffering inflicted on Palestinians who, every night, without electricity, fear for their life as bombings continue
Article 8(2)(a)(iii): Wilfully causing great suffering and serious injury to body and health

Combined effect of the partial blockade, the total block of Gaza, and the war on the mental health of children: “Children who survive wars do not emerge unscathed and can pay a high price psychologically, emotionally, or behaviourally”, including “symptoms of anxiety, depression and trauma”.[6] These traumas can go as far as “lack of interest in everyday life” and “nightmares are frequently experienced," as well as bed-wetting. In 2022, concerns were raised about the ability of children to cope with this situation and the rising number of suicidal thoughts.
While these patterns have been noticed and documented after the May 2021 Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip but before the one that was launched on October 7, they are still relevant for the purpose of this material. Indeed, this attack is far more devastating than the precedent, as the number of Palestinians martyred so far nears 3,000.

Article 8(2)(a)(iv):

Extensive destruction and appropriation of property, not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly

From 7 to 12 October 2023, “Israeli raids have destroyed thousands of housing units, and private and public properties."
This is genocide and ethnic cleansing.
Article 8(2)(a)(vii): Unlawful deportation or transfer or unlawful confinement

423,00 Palestinians “forced to flee their homes in Gaza due to the continuous and heavy indiscriminate Israeli strikes." Subsequently, on October 13, 2023, "Israel" ordered the displacement of “1.1 million Palestinians in Gaza."
Article 8(2)(b)(i)): Intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population as such or against individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities

Entire families were targeted and under the rubble: “[t]he Abou Dan family was holed up at home, in the Bureij camp in the center of the enclave. Everyone kept checking their phones to make sure that no message had been sent from the Israeli army telling them to evacuate their home."

“There was no warning shot, no text message, nothing. All of a sudden, a bomb fell, then two,” said Ahmed Abou Dan over the phone."
Article 8(2)(b)(ii): Intentionally directing attacks against civilian objects, that is, objects which are not military objectives

Between October 11 midday and October 12 midday, “Israeli warplanes carried out dozens of airstrikes, destroying two houses in Beit Lahiya owned by the Nsair and Al-Bes families […]. They also targeted residential areas in Jabaliya, Al-Tawam, Al-Amoudi, and Al-Karama neighborhoods […].”
Article 8(2)(b)(iii): Intentionally directing attacks against personnel, installations, material, units, or vehicles involved in a humanitarian assistance or peacekeeping mission in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, as long as they are entitled to the protection given to civilians or civilian objects under the international law of armed conflict

At least 12 UNRWA employees have been killed since the start of the aggression.
Article 8(2)(b)(iv): Intentionally launching an attack in the knowledge that such attack will cause incidental loss of life or injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects or widespread, long-term, and severe damage to the natural environment which would be clearly excessive in relation to the concrete and direct overall military advantage anticipated

From October 11 midday to October 12 midday, Israeli warplanes carried out dozens of airstrikes, alongside “intense shelling by filed artillery and naval vessels in Gaza District, targeting residential neighborhoods," resulting in 78 Palestinians killed.

Article 8(2)(b)(ix): Intentionally directing attacks against buildings dedicated to religion, education, art, science, or charitable purposes, historic monuments, hospitals, and places where the sick and wounded are collected, provided they are not military objectives

“The Israeli bombardment has rendered the Beit Hanoun hospital inoperative and damaged al-Shifa hospital’s neonatal unit.”
Article 8(2)(b)(xii): Declaring that no quarter will be given

“[a]ll the places where Hamas is deployed, hiding in and operating from […] we will turn them into rubble. I say to the residents of Gaza: Leave now because we will operate forcefully everywhere."
Article 8(2)(b)(xiv): Intentionally directing attacks against buildings, material, medical units and transport, and personnel using the distinctive emblems of the Geneva Conventions in conformity with international law

“Israel" “directly targeted a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance in northern Gaza” on Wednesday, killing paramedics Khalil al-Sharif, Yasser al-Masri, and Ahmed Dahman.”
Article 8(2)(b)(xviii): Employing asphyxiating, poisonous or other gases, and all analogous liquids, materials or devices

"Israel’s" use of white phosphorus on 10 and 11 October 2023

Article 8(2)(b)(xx): Employing weapons, projectiles material and methods of warfare which are of a nature to cause superfluous injury or unnecessary suffering or which are inherently indiscriminate in violation of the international law of armed conflict, provided that such weapons, projectiles and material and methods of warfare are the subject of a comprehensive prohibition and are included in an annex to this Statute, by an amendment in accordance with the relevant provisions set forth in articles 121 and 123

Article 8(2)(b)(xxv): Intentionally using starvation of civilians as a method of warfare by depriving them of objects indispensable to their survival

“Imposing a total closure of the Strip amounts to a collective punishment of an unprecedented scale […]. All crossings between Gaza and Israel have been closed since Friday, 6 October. Since then, no people or goods have left or entered Gaza via Israel […].”

Overnight airstrikes in Gaza worst yet

Palestinian sources have informed Al Mayadeen that "Israel" conducted the most intense bombardment of Gaza overnight to sever transportation routes

During the densely populated and confined streets of Gaza, the situation deteriorated as the number of martyrs from Israeli airstrikes continued to surge.

The Palestinian sources confirmed that the bombs used in tonight's barrage had high destructive power and had not been previously employed by the IOF.

They indicated that no Israeli ground movements have been observed, and the field situation in the eastern and northern border areas remains unchanged, adding that the enemy is conducting extensive psychological warfare campaigns to influence the morale of citizens and fighters.

The sources emphasized that the Resistance remains at the highest level of readiness, monitoring and tracking the enemy's movements, even within the occupied territories.

Meanwhile, the Rafah border crossing, connecting Gaza to Egypt, is reportedly scheduled to open at 9 am today, as reported by NBC News.

Kamel Khatib, a representative from the Palestinian embassy, confirmed the opening, which will enable foreign citizens to depart Gaza and permit the entry of humanitarian supplies, as per Israeli media.
    — Al Mayadeen English (@MayadeenEnglish) October 16, 2023
It is worth noting that Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Cairo reported that approximately 100 trucks carrying 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid are waiting to enter from Egypt into the Gaza Strip.

Our correspondent explained that the Rafah crossing is no longer suitable for delivering aid to the Strip, and there are talks of using the Karm Abu Salem crossing as an alternative.

Director of #AlMayadeen's bureau in #Cairo Mohammad Nasser: "Around 100 trucks carrying 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid await to enter #Gaza from #Egypt." https://t.co/JxAbpS0rPF
    — Al Mayadeen English (@MayadeenEnglish) October 16, 2023
Earlier, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that Israeli occupation airstrikes have violently targeted various areas in Gaza with unprecedented intensity, in both the northern and southern parts of the Strip.

The Israeli occupation targeted the main roads in the Strip and launched intensive smoke bombs in the northern part of it. Shelling that targeted the central governorate in the Strip resulted in two martyrs and several injuries.

Our correspondent reported airstrikes on the Nuseirat camp and heavily populated areas in Khan Yunis. A house in the city sheltering displaced people from the north of the Strip was targeted, resulting in the death and injury of all inside.

The continuous and violent Israeli airstrikes on Khan Yunis coincided with artillery shelling. The shelling on the al-Amal neighborhood resulted in the martyrdom of one person and several injuries, while search operations are underway for those missing under the rubble.

'Gaza is running dry'

Many families in Gaza had to ration their water, often resorting to drinking contaminated or brackish water

The water shortage in Gaza has worsened due to a comprehensive Israeli blockade that severely limits the inflow of freshwater into the world's biggest open-air prison.

"Israel" maintains control over water sources in the area and has effectively denied Gazans access to clean and safe drinking water. Consequently, a burgeoning crisis is underway, marked by acute water scarcity for everyday needs and sanitation. This dire predicament is placing significant strain on the population, impacting their well-being and overall living conditions amid ongoing genocide.

At UN shelters throughout Gaza, water supplies have been depleted. Thousands have crowded into the courtyard of the largest hospital in the besieged region, seeking refuge as a last resort in anticipation of an Israeli ground invasion.

Overwhelmed doctors are facing difficulties in caring for patients, with the looming threat that patients may not survive once the hospital's generators run out of fuel.

It is worth noting that there is no safe place in Gaza as "Israel" bombed residential buildings, homes, UN facilities, schools, and even hospitals.

The big picture

"Israel" has disrupted the supply of essential resources, including food, medicine, water, and electricity, to Gaza. They have carried out hysteric airstrikes on residential areas and mandated the forced displacement of approximately 1 million residents in the northern part of Gaza in anticipation of an Israeli ground invasion.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the ongoing Israeli aggression that commenced last weekend has led to the deaths of over 2,750 Palestinians, a majority of whom are children and women.

    - Israel has cut off water, gas and power supplies.

    - Israel has prohibited humanitarian aid from entering #Gaza

    - Israel targeted UNRWA's essential food supply centers.
US national security adviser Jake Sullivan informed CNN on Sunday that Israeli authorities claimed to have restored water supply to southern Gaza. However, "Israel's" energy and water ministry spokesperson, Adir Dahan, clarified that the water was only flowing at one specific location in the southern part of Gaza. Aid workers in Gaza reported that they had not observed any evidence of the water being reinstated, and a spokesperson for the Gaza government confirmed that water was not yet flowing.

Meanwhile, residents of Gaza queued for extended periods outside bakeries, contending for the opportunity to purchase bread, as concerns about potential food shortages grew.

Doctors are concerned about the well-being of patients who rely on ventilators and individuals with intricate blast injuries that require constant attention. They feared that entire hospital facilities might cease operations, putting many lives at risk, as the remaining fuel supplies for their generators neared depletion. Humanitarian monitors from the United Nations estimated that this critical situation could materialize as early as Monday.

In Gaza City's Shifa Hospital, medical authorities approximated that over 35,000 individuals, including men, women, and children, were tightly packed into the vast open spaces, as well as stairwells and hallways within the hospital premises. They sought refuge there, believing that this location would provide them with some degree of safety amid the ongoing conflict.

However, the Israeli aggression has not spared health workers or hospitals.

Approximately 500,000 Gazans have sought sanctuary in UN shelters spread throughout the region, and they are facing a critical shortage of water, as stated by Juliette Touma, a representative of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees. She emphasized that Gaza is rapidly depleting its water resources, which has prompted UN teams to initiate water rationing measures.

“Gaza is running dry,” she said.

Juliette Touma reported that a quarter of a million individuals in Gaza sought refuge in shelters within the last 24 hours, with the majority taking shelter in UN schools where clean water has become scarce, according to Inas Hamdan, another UNRWA spokesperson.

Throughout Gaza, families were compelled to ration their diminishing water resources, and, unfortunately, many had no choice but to consume contaminated or brackish water. Desperate residents even resorted to using unclean wells and seawater, thereby heightening the risk of dehydration, waterborne illnesses, and further fatalities.

“I am very happy that I was able to brush my teeth today, can you imagine what lengths we have reached?” said Shaima al-Farra, in Khan Younis, as quoted by AP.

Russia Calls for Ceasefire

On Monday, the Kremlin today called for the immediate resumption of the political settlement process of the conflict in the Middle East

"Given the situation, the main thing now is the immediate ceasefire and beginning the process of political settlement," said Yuri Ushakov, presidential adviser for international affairs.

He called for actively adopting the necessary steps to avoid an escalation in the Middle East and stressed that the goal of peace negotiations should be the implementation of the "Two-State" formula approved by the United Nations
Ushakov also recalled that this formula presupposes "the creation of an independent State with its capital in East Jerusalem, which lives in peace and security with Israel."

In telephone conversations, Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss this matter with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

The Russian president will also speak with the leaders of Iran, Syria and Egypt, countries that are involved in one way or another in the conflict.

On Friday, the head of the Kremlin warned that the civilian casualties that an Israeli ground operation would cause in the Gaza Strip are "unacceptable."

Putin also pointed out that the outbreak of violence in the Middle East is a "great tragedy", which is the result of the failure of U.S. policy in that region.

Israeli genocide murders 800+

The Israeli occupation shells a hospital in Gaza, killing more than 800 people and injuring hundreds of others

The Israeli occupation carried out a massacre before the entire world as it bombed a hospital housing over a thousand civilians, killing hundreds in the process.

Palestinian media reported that Al-Maamadani Hospital was housing over a thousand people, including Palestinian refugees, patients, and media personnel.

Preliminary reports suggest that no less than 800 people were martyred in the Israeli aggression.

The Israeli occupation forces bombed the Palestinian Hospital as Gaza continues reporting that its health sector is suffering in light of the crisis, with medicine and medical supplies being at risk of running out.

A video that went viral on social media showed the moment of the strike. It depicts an extremely fast object that hit the hospital in the terminal phase.

Some Israeli and pro-Israeli accounts claimed it was a failed resistance launch, but based on the speed of the object it's not possible for it to be a missile, as dud rockets failing to accelerate would have much lower speeds.

The speed difference can be easily identified between gliding munition launched from the air and failing-to-accelerate dud missiles. Hence, the object that hit the hospital was most definitely an Israeli airstrike.

Despite global appeals to protect healthcare facilities from Israeli airstrikes and forced displacement orders, Israeli threats have targeted hospitals in the Gaza Strip, endangering the well-being of patients and the wounded. "Israel" demanded on Saturday that al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza forcibly evacuate its patients and staff within two hours.

Israeli warplanes also conducted airstrikes in the vicinity of the hospital in Tel al-Zaatar, northern Gaza, as part of their attempt to exert pressure on the hospital and expedite the displacement process.

In the same context, al-Durra Children's Hospital in the east of the Gaza Strip was forced to evacuate its staff and patients after it was pounded with white phosphorus munitions.

This situation unfolds as the healthcare system in Gaza faces a severe crisis, marked by dwindling medication supplies and electricity shortages due to the total Israeli blockade.

Palestinian Health Ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qidra told Al Mayadeen, on Thursday, that Gaza was hours away from essential services completely shutting down, and the health sector is in collapse.

"Medicines are dwindling and have almost run out," Al-Qidra said, noting that only life-saving units were operating in Gaza's hospitals due to the existing fuel shortages.

KRG Condemns Gaza Hospital Attack

Kurdistan (KRG) has strongly condemned the deadly attack on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, expressing deep concern for the hundreds of Palestinians feared dead in the incident

A devastating explosion struck Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza on Tuesday, where the Palestinian Health Ministry reported that hundreds of victims, including women and children, are believed to be trapped under the rubble. The hospital had been providing shelter for thousands of displaced people.

While Palestinian officials attributed this catastrophic event to ongoing Israeli airstrikes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have denied any involvement in the hospital's bombing. Instead, the IDF attributed the tragic incident to a "failed rocket launch" by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group.

"The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) condemns today's attack on the Ma'madani hospital in Gaza, which killed more than 500 people, mostly women and children," KRG spokesperson Peshawa Hawramani said in a statement.

"We reiterate that war and military attacks are not the solution to the problems and call on the international community to intensify its efforts to protect innocent civilians from danger."

In a subsequent development, Israel's military denied responsibility for the attack on the Gaza hospital, stating it had no involvement in the explosion that killed hundreds of people at a Gaza City hospital and attributing the blast to a misfired Palestinian rocket.

The situation in Gaza has grown increasingly dire as the region remains under Israeli siege due to the recent incursion by Hamas, an Islamist militant group controlling Gaza. With hospitals struggling to provide care amid severe shortages of electricity and water, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has raised international concerns.

Amid growing international pressure to address the crisis, US President Joe Biden will travel to Israel on Wednesday, an extraordinary wartime visit that follows intense efforts by Secretary of State Antony Blinken across the Middle East.

Claims about Israel-Hamas thrive

Decimated communities. Burned-out buildings. Survivors mourning loved ones killed amid smoke and debris. These are the all-too-real scenes of Israel and Gaza

But in the days since Hamas militants launched an Oct. 7 attack on Israel, the deadliest in years, online misinformation has distorted the facts around the conflict.

Outdated and fictional images and videos are being characterized as if they are from Israel and Gaza
As if the real toll was not enough: At least 2,200 people in Israel and Gaza have been killed in the attacks, The Associated Press reported Oct. 11. The death toll includes at least 22 Americans and over a dozen more unaccounted for.

Politicians have clouded the information environment with unproven claims that U.S. taxpayer money and a recent deal with Iran funded the massacre.

Here are the viral misleading claims about the conflict that PolitiFact has fact-checked so far.
Out-of-context images from past events

Several videos that predate the attacks in Israel and Gaza have been taken out of context and shared as if they depicted recent events

One video claimed to show Iranian lawmakers chanting “death to America” after Hamas’ attack. But this video is from 2020 after a U.S. airstrike killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

Different footage purportedly showed Palestinians paragliding into Israel to kill civilians. Although legitimate news reports did describe armed paragliders launching from Gaza, this video was filmed in Egypt before the attack.

Another post claimed to show Hamas militants “dressing up as Jewish soldiers.” In reality, it was a behind-the-scenes clip from a 2022 Palestinian short film.

Videos of a 2021 pro-Palestinian rally in Chicago and what appears to be rapid rocket fire from 2020 also were shared as if these events happened recently
.Video game footage shared as real

Fictional video game footage is being shared as a real depiction of the conflict in Israel and Gaza, echoing a similar trend we’ve documented in Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Numerous social media posts have mislabeled footage from the video game Arma 3 as coming from Israel and Gaza.

Arma 3 is a combat simulation game released in 2013. Users can customize it to create new terrains, weapons, aircrafts and scenarios. These creations, also called “mods,” can be shared with other gamers. More than 20,000 mods are available for download, said Czech game development studio Bohemia Interactive, which made Arma 3.

“This means that players of Arma 3 can recreate and simulate any historic, present or future conflict in great detail (thanks to its advanced game engine). This unique freedom of the Arma 3 platform comes with a downside: videos taken from Arma 3, especially when the game is modified, are quite capable of spreading fake news,” the game’s developers said in a statement addressing the misleading use of Arma 3 footage
Claims about U.S. aid to Israel

A viral document across social media platforms claimed to show President Joe Biden authorizing $8 billion in military aid to Israel. But the memo was altered.

The original memo, published July 25 on the White House website, announced it had authorized up to $400 million to aid Ukraine
The U.S. is sending multiple military ships and aircraft closer to Israel and will supply the Israel Defense Forces with munitions. But additional U.S. aid requires approval from Congress.

Claims about Iran, the U.S. and funding for Hamas’ attack and Israel’s response

Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, were quick to blame Biden for Hamas’ attack, claiming that a recent hostage-release agreement gave Iran access to $6 billion that it used to fund Hamas’ attack.

Although Iran has long supported Hamas, neither Israel nor the White House have said that there’s a direct link between Iran and Hamas’ attack.

In August, the U.S. announced an agreement with Iran to free five U.S. citizens detained in Iran in exchange for the release of five Iranians imprisoned in the U.S.

The agreement also allowed Iran access to $6 billion of its own funds that had been frozen in South Korean banks. The money comes from Iranian oil revenue and has been frozen since 2019, when Trump banned Iranian oil exports and imposed sanctions on Iran’s banking sector. (The $6 billion is not, as Trump falsely suggested, American taxpayer money.)
U.S. officials said Iran has not accessed the funds. Also, the deal limited how Iran could use the money; it can be used only to pay for humanitarian items, such as medicine and food. Experts say the unfrozen money for Iran might indirectly benefit Hamas in time.

Additionally, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., claimed the Biden administration “wanted Israel to stand down after the attack” by Hamas. But that’s Mostly False.

Scott, a Republican presidential candidate, said he was referring to a now-deleted post by the State Department’s Palestinian Affairs outpost in Jerusalem that condemned the Hamas attacks while urging “all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks.”

But this framing clashed with U.S. policy and subsequent comments from Biden that clarified U.S. support for Israel and its right to retaliate, which came in before Scott’s swipe.

Israeli Crime on Gaza Hospital
    International Repudiation
On Tuesday, demonstrations and denunciations in Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Jordan, Tunisia, Iraq, Egypt, Yemen, and Türkiye repudiated the Israeli massacre against the Al-Maamadani "Baptist" Hospital which claimed the lives of hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza.

Young people raised their voices against the Israeli crime and denounced in front of the U.S. and French embassies the complicity of Washington and the West in Tel Aviv's permanent violation against the Palestinians.

The President of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, condemned the act by underlining "Israel slapping humanity with an unbelievable crime of genocide. Hundreds of martyrs and the number of murders does not stop."

In this regard, the interim Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, described Tel Aviv's bombardment of the defenceless civilians in the hospital as a shame for the history of humanity; in this regard, the Lebanese government decreed national mourning tomorrow and educational institutions will close in solidarity with Gaza and to condemn Israeli brutality.

According to official reports, demonstrators set fire to the gate of the Israeli embassy in Amman and attempted to storm it to denounce the massacre committed by Israel by bombing the Baptist Hospital in central Gaza.

At the same time, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani denounced that such a brutal crime reflects Tel Aviv's failure to adhere to the most basic international principles during the war.

Kanaani considered that the blood of the martyrs of this incident would increase the determination of the Palestinian people who resist and struggle to liberate their land from the occupiers.

For their part, the foreign ministries of Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye and Iraq called on the international community to assume its responsibility and deter Israel from committing further crimes against Palestinian civilians.

Furthermore, through a statement, the political office of the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen declared that the Israeli violations, supported by the United States and the West reveal to the whole world the level of its brutality. In this sense, the statement stressed that the aggression will not deter the Palestinian people and the resistance movements from continuing the struggle with more strength and solidity.

According to preliminary figures, at least 500 Palestinians were killed as a result of a deliberate Israeli bombardment of the Baptist hospital in Gaza, which served as a safe haven for people fleeing the aggression of the last few days.
