IOF using internationally banned weapons

In the past 48 hours, 40 martyrs, including women and children, were reported in the Gaza Strip amid calls for international condemnation to stop the massacres against civilians

As part of its ongoing crimes against humanity, the Israeli occupation bombed and destroyed 254 housing units in the Gaza Strip over the past 48 hours, the Government Media Office in Gaza reported.

According to the Office, Israeli occupation forces employed internationally prohibited weapons in their attacks, dropping and firing them indiscriminately from warplanes and tanks. They also planted explosive barrels between civilian homes and detonated them remotely, disregarding any legal or humanitarian considerations.

They also deployed missiles with immense destructive power against civilian homes, "most of which were covered with asbestos and zinc sheets," leaving them in ruins beyond comprehension, according to the Media Office.

This brutal bombing over the last 48 hours resulted in several massacres around the new camp and its vicinity in the al-Nuseirat, central Gaza Strip, with over 40 martyrs and numerous injuries, including among children and women, reported.

Israel prevents ambulance crews from rescuing wounded

The Government Media Office condemned the occupation forces for committing these crimes against humanity, describing the deliberate targeting of civilians, including children and women, as acts of genocide. They called for international condemnation of these "horrific massacres against residential neighborhoods and civilians."

It held the occupation entity, as well as the US administration, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and other nations complicit in the genocide, holding them accountable for perpetuating the war and committing acts of genocide.

It called on the international community and all UN and international organizations to exert pressure on "Israel" by all means necessary to halt the crimes against humanity being committed against the Palestinian people.

Israel kills, injures Palestinians in central Gaza

Five Palestinians were killed and more were injured in the Israeli bombardment of several homes in al-Nuseirat, central Gaza.

Palestinian media reported the arrival of three martyrs and several injuries at Al-Awda Hospital after the Israeli occupation bombarded the al-Assar family home in al-Nuseirat's Camp 5.

Moreover, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza reported the launch of heavy fire from Israeli quadcopters on Al-Daawa School, northeast of the al-Nuseirat refugee camp. Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes were also launched on the camp's northwestern area.

In easternmost Deir al-Balah, our correspondent reported an Israeli airstrike targeting Wadi al-Salqa.

A woman was killed in the Israeli bombardment of her home in the al-Rahma neighborhood, to the west of the new camp in al-Nuseirat, while rescue teams were unable to reach her location due to Israeli obstruction.

An Israeli drone also deliberately targeted emergency medical crews while they were recovering the bodies of martyrs and treating the injured in the northern area of the al-Nuseirat camp.

Israel severing ties with UNRWA

The Israeli occupation government informs the United Nations that it is cutting all ties with the UN agency for Palestinian refugees swiftly after a parliamentary decision

The Israeli occupation regime formally announced on Monday that it had cut ties with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which provides aid to Palestinian refugees, following a parliamentary decision to ban the agency.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the notification to the UN, stating it was acting on instructions from Foreign Minister Israel Katz.

"UNRWA, the organization whose employees participated in the October 7 uprising and many of whose employees are Hamas operatives, is part of the problem in the Gaza Strip and not part of the solution," Katz claimed, reiterating baseless claims about the UN agency
Israel has frequently demanded that UNRWA be dismantled and its responsibilities moved to other UN organizations.

The bill has upset the United Nations and some of Israel's Western allies who believe it would exacerbate the already grave humanitarian situation in Gaza, where "Israel" has ruthlessly and repeatedly bombed civilians for the last year.

The decision to sever ties comes after the Israeli parliament voted last month to end UNRWA's operations in the occupied Palestinian territories and occupied east al-Quds, which has drawn criticism from the international community, even the United States.

Undermining aid for Palestinians

Experts warn that the Israeli decision could undermine crucial humanitarian assistance for Palestinian refugees, particularly in Gaza, where UNRWA has provided aid for more than 70 years.

Despite the warnings, Katz downplayed UNRWA's role, stating that the agency is responsible for only a fraction of the aid reaching Gaza. "Even now, the vast majority of humanitarian aid to Gaza is delivered through other organizations, and only 13% of it is delivered through UNRWA," he noted.

However, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned last week that the Israeli occupation newly approved law banning UNRWA from operating could lead to "devastating consequences for Palestine refugees in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which is unacceptable."

"There is no alternative to UNRWA," he said. "The implementation of these laws would be detrimental for the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and for peace and security in the region as a whole."

In January, the Israeli occupation accused several UNRWA employees in Gaza of involvement in October 7's Operation al-Aqsa Flood. Subsequent investigations found some instances of "neutrality-related issues" and suggested that nine employees "may have been involved" in the incident, though no conclusive evidence supported the main Israeli allegations.

The UNRWA ban may have additional implications for agency staff, particularly in the West Bank, who could face challenges in moving through checkpoints and accessing eastern al-Quds or the occupied Palestinian territories, as they would lose the coordination privileges with Israeli authorities. Additionally, concerns have arisen over the renewal of visas and permits issued by the Israeli regime.

UNRWA and other aid groups have criticized the Israeli occupation for limiting aid flows into Gaza, where nearly all of the 2.4 million residents have been displaced at least once amid the ongoing conflict.

43,391 killed
    102,347 injured
In only 24 hours, the Israeli occupation forces committed three massacres across the Gaza Strip, killing 17 Palestinians and injuring 86 others

On day 396 of the Israeli genocide in Gaza, the total number of Palestinians killed since the Israeli onslaught started on October 7 has risen to, 43,391 martyrs, in addition to 102,347 injuries, Gaza's Health Ministry announced Tuesday in its daily report.

In only 24 hours, the Israeli occupation forces committed three massacres across the Gaza Strip, killing 17 Palestinians and injuring 86 others, the Ministry pointed out.

It noted that while a number of victims were transported to partially functioning hospitals and medical centers, others remain trapped beneath the rubble, with defense and rescue crews being unable to reach them.

Israeli genocide is ongoing

This comes as heavy Israeli bombardments continue across Gaza, with reports of numerous civilian casualties and critical shortages of food and medical supplies in affected areas.

In addition, the ongoing Israeli drone and artillery attacks on residential areas have led to distress calls for aid from regions like Rafah, where civil defense teams are being blocked from assisting the injured.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza reported that over 80 martyrs have been brought to hospitals following a series of massacres committed by the Israeli occupation forces.

Concurrently, Israeli forces opened fire from armored vehicles on the northern side of Nuseirat camp in central Gaza.

Urgent distress calls are being made from northern and eastern Rafah, pleading for the rescue of the wounded as the occupation prevents civil defense teams from reaching these areas, our correspondent pointed out.

He issued a heart-wrenching plea, stating that the Israeli forces continue to commit grave atrocities in northern Gaza, far from media scrutiny.

Israeli Quadcopters have dropped bombs on various parts of the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in the northwestern part of Gaza City, resulting in several casualties.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces launched smoke bombs on the al-Shemaa area in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that two Palestinians were killed, and others were injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a motorcycle in the Khirbet al-Adas area, north of Rafah in southern Gaza.

This is happening as Gaza mourned more than 20 martyrs, following an Israeli massacre that wiped out the al-Radee' family in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza.

Three people were also killed in Khan Younis due to an Israeli airstrike. In the Aabasan area, three individuals sustained injuries as a result of an Israeli drone attack. Furthermore, Israeli artillery continued shelling east of Bureij camp, central Gaza.

In the northeastern part of Gaza, Israeli helicopters unleashed heavy fire on residential areas.

About 44% of victims were children

The UN's Human Rights Office has condemned the high number of civilians killed in the war in Gaza, saying its analysis shows close to 70% of verified victims over a six-month period were women and children

The agency said the high number was largely due to Israel's use of weapons with wide-area effects in densely populated areas.

The report said it found "unprecedented" levels of international law violations, raising concerns about "war crimes and other possible atrocity crimes".

Israel has in the past said it targets Hamas and takes steps to mitigate risk to civilians by using precise munitions.

The BBC contacted the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for comment in response to Friday's report.

The UN agency said it verified the details of 8,119 people killed in Gaza from November 2023 to April 2024.

Its analysis found around 44% of verified victims were children and 26% women. The ages most represented among the dead were five to nine-year-olds.

About 80% of victims were killed in residential buildings or similar housing, the agency added.

The report said the data indicates "an apparent indifference to the death of civilians and the impact of the means and methods of warfare".

Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry, whose figures the UN sees as reliable, has reported a death toll of more than 43,300 people over the past 13 months. Many more bodies are believed to remain under the rubble of bombarded buildings
The health ministry said it obtained full demographic data for a majority of those killed and reported that children account for one in three of that number.

UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk said in a statement that "this unprecedented level of killing, and injury of civilians is a direct consequence of the failure to comply with fundamental principles of international humanitarian law".

He cited the laws of distinction, which requires warring parties to distinguish between combatants and civilians, proportionality, which prohibits attacks where harm to civilians outweighs military advantage, and precautions in attacks.

Türk called for a "due reckoning with respect to the allegations of serious violations of international law".

The IDF has previously told the BBC in response to criticism that it "will continue to act, as it always has done, according to international law".

The report also said the way the warring parties have conducted the conflict in Gaza has "caused horrific human suffering".

The UN said Palestinian armed groups have waged war from densely-populated areas and indiscriminately used projectiles, likely contributing to the death toll, while the IDF has destroyed civilian infrastructure and "left many of those alive, injured, displaced and starving, without access to adequate water, food or healthcare".

The situation is worst in north Gaza, which aid groups say has been under siege since early October when Israel launched a new ground offensive against Hamas.

The UN said no food aid entered the north during the first two weeks of October.

This prompted the US to issue an ultimatum to Israel to increase aid by 12 November or risk losing some military support.

Jan Egeland, the head of aid organisation Norwegian Refugee Council, told the BBC on Friday that he saw "devastation, despair, beyond belief" on a recent visit to Gaza.

"There is hardly a building that is not damaged. And large areas looked like Stalingrad after the Second World War. You cannot fathom how intense this indiscriminate bombing has been on this trapped population," he said.

"It's evident that it is first and foremost children and women who are paying a price for this senseless war," he added.

Israel launched its current military offensive in Gaza after Hamas' attack on 7 October 2023 that killed 1,200 people in Israel and took 251 hostages back to Gaza.

IOF depriving Palestinians of life necessities

Thousands of displaced Palestinian families, forced to flee their homes, are sleeping on the streets due to a shortage of tents and shelter

80,000 Palestinians still in northern Gaza are deprived of basic necessities and humanitarian aid, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza reported on Friday.

Our correspondent pointed out that thousands of families have been displaced to the west of Gaza City and are sleeping on the streets because of a lack of tents available to protect them from heat and cold.

Intense shelling by Israeli naval vessels targeted the beach of the Nuseirat refugee camp and the city of Rafah in central and southern Gaza Strip.

On Thursday evening, 27 Palestinians, including children and women, were killed, and others were injured in a new massacre committed by the Israeli occupation after it bombed a house in the Jabalia refugee camp.

The death toll from the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip has risen to 43,508 martyrs, in addition to 102,684 injuries since October 7, 2023, the Gaza Health Ministry confirmed on the 399th day of the aggression
The IOF also continue to forcibly disrupt the work of civil defense in northern Gaza Strip under Israeli targeting and aggression, and thousands of citizens there are now without humanitarian aid and medical care.

In the southern Gaza Strip, the occupation forces continue their ground invasion of large neighborhoods in Rafah, since May 7. Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported large explosions as a result of Israeli shelling targeting Khan Younis.

UN condemns violations of humanitarian law

The six-month update on the human rights situation in Gaza, covering the period from 1 November 2023 to 30 April 2024, highlights severe violations of international humanitarian and human rights law by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in Gaza, describing the Strip as "a rubble-strewn landscape."

Ajith Sunghay, Director of the UN Human Rights Office for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, has condemned these violations, emphasizing the widespread destruction of hospitals, schools, and critical infrastructure, which has contributed to a dire humanitarian crisis. He also pointed to the severe restrictions on humanitarian aid, which have led to widespread starvation among Palestinians.

Additionally, Sunghay noted the targeting of journalists and civil society organizations, which has disrupted their work, and, according to the latest figures from the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), nearly two million people in Gaza are now internally displaced and struggling with severe shortages of food, water, and medicine.

Families are frequently forced to relocate, and 80% of Gaza is now designated for evacuation and relocation by Israeli forces, confining Palestinians to just 20% of the territory
The report calls for an immediate ceasefire, strict adherence to international law, and accountability for violations. It stresses the urgent need for access to humanitarian aid and the protection of civilians.

In the report, the UN Human Rights Office revealed that 70% of those killed in Gaza from November 2023 to April 2024 are women and children, describing this high civilian toll as a severe breach of international humanitarian law and attributing the high civilian death toll to "Israel's" use of weapons with expansive area effects in Gaza's densely populated urban zones.

"Our monitoring indicates that this unprecedented level of killing and injury of civilians is a direct consequence of the failure to comply with fundamental principles of international humanitarian law – namely the principles of distinction, proportionality, and precautions in attack," stated UN human rights chief Volker Turk.

According to the detailed analysis, about 80% of the victims were killed in residential buildings or similar housing, out of which 44% were children and 26% were women
The most represented verified fatalities were children aged 5 to 9, between ages 10 to 14, and babies and children from 0 to 4 years old. The report also verified that the youngest victim was a one-day-old boy, while the oldest was a 97-year-old woman.

"It is essential that there is due reckoning with respect to the allegations of serious violations of international law through credible and impartial judicial bodies," Turk said, stressing the importance of collecting and preserving evidence.

Gaza mourns children killed in Israeli strike

70% of those killed in Gaza are women and children, according to a UN report

A Gaza family sat grieving on Saturday over children slain by an Israeli attack as they prepared to play soccer, amid an escalated bombardment that Palestinian health officials said had killed 44 people in 24 hours.

The raid struck al-Mawasi, a southern coastal town where hundreds of thousands of residents took refuge after Israeli occupation forces (IOF) ordered them to flee to other locations.

Mohammed Zanoun, a relative of the victims, described the tragedy, saying, The rocket struck them. There were no wanted or targeted people there and there was nobody else in the street

Just the children who were killed yesterday
For the 400th consecutive day, Israeli occupation forces persisted in their genocidal campaign in the Gaza Strip, conducting relentless airstrikes and artillery shelling while carrying out massacres against civilians. This ongoing violence exacerbates an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis driven by the siege and widespread displacement of the population.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that the latest toll of martyrs has reached 43,552, in addition to 102,765 injuries. The Ministry added that in only 24 hours, the Israeli occupation committed four massacres, killing 44 and injuring 81.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent in the Gaza Strip reported on Saturday that artillery shelling and gunfire from occupation tanks targeted the eastern cities of Rafah and Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Two Palestinians were killed and others were injured in the bombing of a tent housing displaced people in al-Jazeera Stadium, south of al-Shafi’i Mosque in Khan Younis.

According to Palestinian media, a Palestinian was killed by an Israeli sniper in the al-Zaytoun neighborhood in the eastern part of Gaza City.

Strikes overnight and early Saturday morning killed four Palestinians east of Gaza City, including two journalists: four in a house in Beit Lahia, two in a tent at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, and four in a tent in Aabassan near Khan Younis, according to doctors.

North Gaza on brink of imminent famine

A group of international food security specialists cautioned on Friday that famine is likely to occur soon in parts of the northern Gaza Strip as the Israeli occupation continues its aggression against the Gaza Strip and its people, including women and children.

In a rare alert, the independent Famine Review Committee (FRC) said, "Immediate action, within days not weeks, is required from all actors who are directly taking part in the conflict, or have influence on its conduct, to avert and alleviate this catastrophic situation."

The alert comes shortly before a US deadline for "Israel" to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Almost a year ago, the UN described the region as "uninhabitable" due to Israeli airstrikes, warning that failure to make progress could lead to potential cuts in US military aid.

Netanyahu admits Israel behind
    Lebanon pager terror attack
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admits that the Israeli occupation was behind the terrorist pager attack on Lebanon that left thousands wounded

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed during a cabinet meeting on Sunday that the Israeli occupation was responsible for the September pager and wireless receiver terrorist attacks that wounded and killed hundreds of people, Israeli media reported.

According to these reports, Netanyahu acknowledged that the operation, which targeted thousands of pagers across Lebanon and parts of Syria, was conducted despite opposition from top officials in the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and intelligence agencies, including recently sacked Security Minister Yoav Gallant.

“The pager operation and the elimination of [Sayyed Hassan] Nasrallah were carried out despite the opposition of senior officials in the defense establishment and those responsible for them in the political echelon,” Netanyahu reportedly said.

Netanyahu's remarks appeared to take aim at the IOF and intelligence leaders, signaling a rift between his administration and security officials over the attack.

The Israeli occupation had not previously taken public responsibility for the attacks despite accusations from numerous parties, including the Lebanese government
The New York Times reported in September, citing US and other officials briefed on the attack, that Israel planted explosive material in a recent batch of Taiwanese-brand pagers imported to Lebanon.

Pagers ordered by Hezbollah from Gold Apollo were tampered with before arriving in the county, some officials stated. Most pagers were the AR924 models, but the shipment also included three other models from the company, according to NYT.

Taiwanese manufacturer Gold Apollo said the pagers were produced and developed by a European company, CEO Hsu Chin-Kuang said on Wednesday.

"The pagers were both developed and produced abroad, so they have nothing to do with Taiwan," the director was quoted as saying by Taiwanese news portal CTWANT.

He also said that about three years ago, Gold Apollo signed a cooperation agreement with a European company, which was only involved in distributing Gold Apollo products at first, but later began independently developing the pagers involved in the blasts.

US to maintain Israel military support

The United States, which provides over $3 billion annually in military aid to Israel, has sent $17.9 billion in weapons support since October, when Tel Aviv began its genocidal campaign in Gaza

The United States has confirmed it will continue its substantial military aid to Israel, despite the ongoing genocide in Gaza, which has resulted in the killing of at least 43,700 Palestinians.

On Tuesday, the US State Department stated that there were no changes to its policy regarding the weapons flow to Israel. Spokesperson Vedant Patel confirmed, I don’t have any changes to the US policy on the issue to announce.

This decision comes even as Israel has ignored a 30-day deadline set by Washington to increase aid into the war-torn Palestinian territory. Despite the apparent failure to meet this deadline, the US has opted to maintain its lethal military support. This move risks violating US laws that prohibit military assistance to parties committing gross violations of human rights.

The United States, which provides over $3 billion annually in military aid to "Israel", has sent $17.9 billion in weapons support since October, when Tel Aviv began its genocidal campaign in Gaza.

According to the United Nations, 70 percent of the fatalities from the Israeli brutal military assault are women and children, with the majority of victims being minors between the ages of five and nine. The war has also left more than 103,400 others wounded.

On Tuesday, Ilze Brands Kehris, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights, urged all countries supplying weapons to "Israel" to reconsider these arrangements. She also highlighted “constant and continued interference with the entry and distribution of humanitarian assistance,” which has now reached its lowest levels in a year.

Joyce Msuya, the UN's Acting Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, condemned the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling the Israeli actions against Palestinians “acts reminiscent of the gravest international crimes.”

She condemned the Israeli entity for its increased indiscriminate attacks on northern Gaza, where Israeli aggression has caused damage to or complete destruction of “more than 70 percent of civilian housing.”

In a related development, eight international aid organizations, including Save the Children and Refugees International, issued a statement expressing regret that "Israel" had not only failed to meet the criteria that would suggest an improvement in the humanitarian situation in Gaza but had also taken actions that “dramatically worsened the situation on the ground, particularly in northern Gaza.”

The United States graciously announced on Tuesday that "Israel" has, of course, not violated any US laws regarding the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza—because why would it? However, they did mention that a bit more effort is needed to improve the situation on the ground.

This revelation follows a letter from the outgoing President Joe Biden’s administration, where Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, clearly concerned, expressed their deep concern over Gaza's humanitarian crisis. They even warned Israel about the potential consequences for military aid if they didn’t meet the aid flow targets by November 13—because that's been so effective so far.

However, when asked if "Israel" had met the outlined criteria, State Department spokesman Vedant Patel confirmed that no violation of US law had been determined.

"The overall humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to be unsatisfactory," Patel said, but noted that recent actions by "Israel", though limited, are "steps in the right direction."

The situation in Northern Gaza apocalyptic

On November 1, the United Nations issued an urgent warning, describing the humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza as apocalyptic and stating that the entire population is at imminent risk of death from disease, famine, and ongoing violence.

The UN's top agency heads, representing humanitarian, health, refugee, and children's organizations, issued a joint statement demanding an immediate cessation of hostilities and unhindered access to humanitarian aid to the besieged region.

"The situation unfolding in North Gaza is apocalyptic," the statement read, adding that over the past month, Gaza has been under siege, cut off from life-saving supplies and basic aid amidst continuous bombardment.

"The needs of women and girls are overwhelming and growing every day. We have lost contact with those we support and those who provide lifesaving essential services for sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence," the statement read.

"And we have received reports of civilians being targeted while trying to seek safety, and of men and boys being arrested and taken to unknown locations for detention," the statement added.

Malnutrition evident in Gaza children

The spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal, tells Al Mayadeen that the Israeli occupation forces continue to expand the Netzarim axis, seizing Gaza City's lands

Israel is imposing a policy of starvation on Gaza City by preventing the entry of vegetables, fruits, and cooking gas, the spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal, told Al Mayadeen on Friday.

Basal highlighted that "children are now exhibiting signs of dehydration due to the lack of food and nutrition."

In parallel, Israeli occupation forces continue to expand the Netzarim axis, seizing Gaza City's lands, the spokesperson pointed out
"Thousands of lives could have been saved if we had the necessary rescue and relief equipment," Basal stressed, emphasizing that the situation is "growing increasingly dire in the Strip, which has been subjected to over 400 days of genocide, leaving no habitable homes."

His statements came as Gaza's Civil Defense reiterated that its operations remain forcibly paralyzed across all northern areas of the Strip for the 24th consecutive day due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, leaving thousands without humanitarian aid, medical care, or relief.

The Civil Defense reminded that the Israeli occupation forces attacked its teams in the north on October 23, seizing its vehicles, displacing most of its personnel to central and northern Gaza, and abducting 10 members.

It also called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to respond to the pleas of thousands besieged by the Israeli occupation military in northern Gaza and to urgently work toward the resumption of Civil Defense operations and the reactivation of its vehicles in Beit Lahia.

Earlier on Friday, the Gaza Health Ministry confirmed that the number of Palestinians killed since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza has risen to 43,764 martyrs, in addition to 103,490 injured.

The Ministry noted that many victims remain trapped under the rubble or in the streets, as rescue and Civil Defense teams are unable to reach them due to the accumulation of debris and continued Israeli attacks.

All hospitals in besieged areas destroyed

According to the report, three hospitals in north Gaza have been directly hit by strikes and decimated, doctors have been detained, and "bodies are just lying on the ground."

Wateridge also reiterated that Israel continues to reject all UN appeals to allow aid into the north, stressing that besieged areas have been left without any food for an entire month.

Over 1.2 million without clean water

The suspension of sewage treatment facilities further threatens to flood the city's streets with untreated wastewater, raising fears of environmental and public health disasters

A severe fuel shortage in Gaza has plunged the southern city of Khan Younis into a worsening humanitarian crisis, leaving over 1.2 million residents without access to clean water, Palestinian officials warned on Saturday.

In a statement, local authorities revealed that critical services, including water wells and desalination plants, have ceased operations due to the persistent lack of fuel.

The suspension of sewage treatment facilities further threatens to flood the city's streets with untreated wastewater, raising fears of environmental and public health disasters.

"This fuel stoppage has disrupted essential services and placed lives at risk," officials said, urging the international community and UN agencies to intervene.

They called for immediate pressure on "Israel" to resume fuel supplies and allow the entry of essential equipment and spare parts, warning that the complete collapse of public services is imminent.

Gaza's infrastructure in ruins

The situation is part of a broader humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, which has been under siege since October 2023.

Israeli authorities have systematically blocked the entry of lifesaving supplies, including food, medicine, fuel, and tents, exacerbating the dire conditions.

Critical infrastructure, including water networks, sanitation systems, and bread mills, has been destroyed, leaving the territory on the brink of collapse.

Palestinian officials accused "Israel" of "destroying all aspects of life" in Gaza through its ongoing blockade and genocidal operations.

The lack of basic services has left residents struggling to survive amid a rapidly escalating disaster.

Calls for International Action

As the crisis deepens, Palestinian leaders are urging swift action from the global community to alleviate the suffering of Gaza's 2.3 million residents.

"The international community must not stand idly by as the people of Gaza are denied basic human rights," they said in their statement.

Meanwhile, humanitarian groups warn that unless urgent action is taken to restore essential services, Gaza's already dire situation could spiral into an unprecedented catastrophe.

Day 408 of Israeli genocide in Gaza:
    43,846 killed, 103,740 injured
The Gaza Government Media Office says the Israeli bombing of residential buildings in Beit Lahia, al-Nuseirat, and al-Bureij killed 96 people and injured 60 others, with over 15 missing

The Israeli occupation continues its war of genocide against the Gaza Strip, now ongoing for the 408th day, with the Gaza Health Ministry announcing that over the past 24 hours, the Israeli military committed six massacres, resulting in 47 martyrs and 139 injuries, with many victims still trapped under rubble or inaccessible in the streets.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation has killed 43,846 Palestinians and injured 103,740 others, the Ministry confirmed Sunday in its daily report.

In the same context, the Government Media Office of the Gaza Strip issued its 675th press release, detailing the massacres committed that day.

96 martyrs, 60 injured, and 15 missing

According to the Media Office's press release, the Israeli occupation military carried out multiple brutal massacres, bombing residential buildings in Beit Lahia, al-Nuseirat, and al-Bureij.

It confirmed that the attacks resulted in 96 martyrs, over 15 missing, and 60 injured, targeting families from the Ghabein, Ghoneim, Safi, Ayada, Abdel Ati, Talouli, Abu Armana, Saidam, Aql, al-Masri, al-Hamlaoui, and Ummoum families. Many of the victims were displaced civilians, mostly women and children.

These massacres coincide with the Israeli occupation’s systematic and deliberate destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system, with several hospitals now out of service, the statement highlighted.

The Gaza Media Office held the Israeli occupation, as well as the US, UK, Germany, France, and other involved countries, responsible for the genocide and war crimes.

"We demand that the international community and all UN and international organizations pressure the Israeli occupation, by all means, to stop the genocide, end the bloodshed in Gaza, and halt the war against children and displaced people," it urged in its statement.

Gaza aid lorries violently looted

A convoy of 109 UN aid lorries carrying food was violently looted in Gaza on Saturday, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) says

Ninety-seven of the lorries were lost and their drivers were forced at gunpoint to unload their aid after passing through the Israeli-controlled Kerem Shalom crossing with southern Gaza, in what is believed to have been one of the worst incidents of its kind.

Eyewitnesses said the convoy was attacked by masked men who threw grenades.

Unrwa commissioner general Philippe Lazzarini did not identify the perpetrators, but he said the “total breakdown of civil order” in Gaza meant it had “become an impossible environment to operate in”.

Without immediate intervention, severe food shortages are set to worsen for the two million people depending on humanitarian aid to survive, according to Unrwa
A UN-backed assessment warned earlier this month that there was “strong likelihood that famine is imminent in areas within the northern Gaza Strip”, external.

It came after Israeli forces launched a major ground offensive in the north and the UN said fewer aid lorries had entered Gaza last month than at any time since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in October 2023.

Saturday’s looting was first reported by Reuters news agency, which cited an Unrwa official in Gaza as saying that the convoy was instructed by Israeli authorities to "depart at short notice via an unfamiliar route" from Kerem Shalom.

Lazzarini said he could not comment on the route when asked at a news conference in Geneva on Monday, but he confirmed the looting and said: “We have been warning a long time ago about the total breakdown of civil order.”

“Until four or five months ago, we still had local capacity, people who were escorting the convoy. This has completely gone, which means we are in an environment where local gangs, local families, are struggling among each other to take control of any business or any activities taking place in the south. It has become an impossible environment to operate in.”

He added that hundreds of people desperate for food had tried to storm the Unrwa-run vocational centre in the southern city of Khan Younis because they thought the aid had been delivered there.

“But the convoys were looted and there was absolutely nothing to take from the warehouses.”

Unrwa put out a separate statement on X that accused Israeli authorities of continuing to “disregard their legal obligations under international law to ensure the population's basic needs are met and to facilitate the safe delivery of aid”.

“Such responsibilities continue when trucks enter the Gaza Strip, until people are reached with essential assistance.”

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

Earlier, the Israeli military body responsible for humanitarian affairs in the Gaza Strip, Cogat, said on X: “With the challenges the UN aid organisations experience in distributing aid, we are working together on various measures that will facilitate the transfer of aid from the Kerem Shalom crossing to Gazans in need.”

“For months now, aid has been piling up on the Gazan side, after Israeli inspection, waiting for collection and distribution, and we've been taking many measures to assist with the pick-up of aid,” it added.

Israel has previously insisted there are no limits to the amount of aid that can be delivered into and across Gaza, and accused Hamas of stealing aid, which the group has denied.

Last week, a group of 29 non-governmental organisations said in a report that the looting of aid convoys was “a consequence of Israel's targeting of the remaining police forces in Gaza, scarcity of essential goods, lack of routes and closure of most crossing points, and the subsequent desperation of the population amid these dire conditions”
They cited media reports as saying that “many incidents are taking place close by or in full view of Israeli forces, without them intervening, even when truck drivers asked for assistance”.

Also on Monday, Palestinian authorities said Israeli strikes had killed more than 30 people across Gaza.

At least 17 were reportedly killed when a house was hit near Kamal Adwan hospital in the Beit Lahia Project, in northern Gaza.

The director of Gaza's health ministry cited Kamal Adwan’s director, Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, as saying that the dead were members of the family of one of the hospital’s medics, Dr Hani Badran. A video purportedly showed Dr Badran being comforted on a ward, external.

The Hamas-run Civil Defence agency meanwhile said its first responders had recovered the bodies of seven people from a home that was struck in the north-west of Gaza City.

Another four people, including two children, were killed in an Israeli strike on a tent inside the Israeli-designated al-Mawasi humanitarian area, in southern Gaza, it added.

Israel launched a campaign to destroy Hamas in response to the group's unprecedented uprising against Israeli settlers Palestinian land on October 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.

More than 43,920 people have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the territory's health ministry

US sanctions Hamas

The United States placed numerous sanctions on Hamas, prompting the movement to denounce said action and accuse Washington of serving the Israeli occupation

The US Department of the Treasury announced sanctions on Tuesday targeting six leaders of the Palestinian movement Hamas, citing their roles in supporting the organization's fundraising and arms acquisition efforts.

The sanctions, implemented by the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), apply to senior Hamas officials, including representatives abroad and a high-ranking member of its military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades.

Hamas issued a strong condemnation of the US Treasury Department's decision to sanction several of its leaders, denouncing the move as a "criminal act" and accusing the US of "siding with the fascist occupation forces."

In a statement, Hamas criticized the US Treasury's actions, saying, "We reject the Treasury's statement, which places a number of our leaders on the sanctions list and labels our people's resistance as terrorism."
The movement argued that the sanctions rely on "misleading and false information aimed at tarnishing the image of Hamas leadership, who are committed to serving their people and defending their cause."

US accomplice in occupation/genocide

Hamas further accused the outgoing US administration of continuing its antagonistic stance against the rights of the Palestinian people, who, it stated, "are enduring the most brutal occupation in history."

Among those sanctioned is Abdel Rahman Ghanimat, described by the US Treasury as a long-time military member of Hamas residing in Turkey, who allegedly participated in various operations, including a 1997 bombing in Tel Aviv.

Other leaders affected by the sanctions include Hamas political bureau members Mohammad Nazzal, Basem Naim, and Ghazi Hamad, as well as officials Mohammad Akari and Salama Merhi, also based in Turkey.

The Treasury's statement accused Hamas of relying on key representatives abroad to coordinate the flow of funds, weapons, and essential materials to Gaza, including construction supplies for tunnel building.

Under these sanctions, any assets or interests of the individuals or their affiliated entities within the United States are frozen, and US persons are prohibited from engaging in transactions with them.
Legal snowball?

Last month, the US imposed additional financial sanctions on three individuals, including Yemeni businessman Hamid Abdullah Hussein al-Ahmar, accused of "financing Hamas activities."

Al-Ahmar, who resides in Turkey, allegedly plays a prominent role in Hamas's secret investment portfolio, reportedly valued at $500 million at its peak, which the US claims enabled Hamas leaders to "live in luxury".

The Treasury statement also noted that al-Ahmar has led the Hamas-affiliated charity al-Quds International Foundation, based in Lebanon, since 2013.

Moreover, back in September, the US Justice Department took an unsurprising action by charging prominent Palestinian Resistance figures, notably then-Hamas Political Bureau chief, Yahya Sinwar, with a hefty array of charges—conspiracy to support a "foreign terrorist organization that resulted in death, conspiracy to murder US nationals, and conspiracy to finance terrorism."

The DOJ has also added Iran and Hezbollah to the list for allegedly providing Hamas with cash, rockets, and other military supplies.

Israel has committed atrocities in Gaza, and the ICC is anticipated to file arrest warrants for its leaders for genocide in the Strip
The complaint was initially filed under seal in February to allow time for the US to attempt to apprehend then-Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and other defendants. However, it was unsealed on Tuesday following Haniyeh's martyrdom in July and other regional developments that reduced the necessity for confidentiality, according to the Justice Department.

It is worth noting that Israel assassinated Haniyeh by an airstrike on his residence in Tehran.

“The charges unsealed today are just one part of our effort to target every aspect of Hamas’ operations,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a video statement. “These actions will not be our last.”
