Gaza prevails against genocide

471 days of non-stop Israeli brutality have finally come to an end

One thing remained constant throughout the 15 months of war, the Palestinian resilience in the face of the most advanced weaponry in the world.

This resilience has yielded a victory to be written in history, a victory that mimics historical epics written by the people of Palestine and its fighters who did not yield to international pressure and kept fighting for their right to live in their own homeland.

More than 47,000 killed

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza has released new figures on the death toll in the Strip since the war began, saying more than 47,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 111,000 injured since 7 October

Fighting is now due to stop in the Strip for the next six weeks, under the first stage of the ceasefire.

More than 10,000 bodies to be recovered

The Hamas-run civil defence agency has just shared an update on the impact of the war in Gaza over the last 15 months:

The Civil Defence Service's crews recovered over 38,300 dead bodies, and rescued 97,000 injured people, from areas targeted by Israel

An estimate of more than 10,000 dead bodies are still under rubble of destroyed buildings, yet to be recovered

The agency "could not find any trace" of around 2,840 killed people. It says it's because of the extremely high temperatures produced by the Israeli army's weapons

The crew managed to control 22,403 fires caused by strikes in targeted areas, and evacuated 42,000 from areas and homes "deemed too dangerous to remain"

Settlers rampage Palestinian towns

Israeli settlers, accompanied by Israeli occupation forces, stormed multiple Palestinian towns in the occupied West Bank on Sunday evening, expressing outrage over a Gaza ceasefire deal widely perceived as a defeat for the Israeli entity

The settlers targeted Palestinian vehicles and blocked key roads in areas including Turmus Ayya, ‘Atara, Ein Siniya, Ein Ayoub, Qalqilya, and Jaba’.

In Sinjil, WAFA news agency reported that two Palestinian homes and four vehicles were set on fire. Social media footage captured settlers throwing stones and Molotov cocktails during their attacks.

The assaults occurred just hours before "Israel" released the first group of Palestinian detainees—69 women and 21 children—in exchange for three Israeli captives as part of a truce agreement between the Palestinian Resistance Hamas and Israel. The deal aimed to end Israel's 15-month-long war on Gaza.

Far-right Israelis denounced the ceasefire, demanding the continuation of the military offensive against Gaza. Ahead of the agreement, Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz ordered the release of all 16 settlers under administrative detention for their involvement in attacks on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Katz justified the decision, saying it was intended “to convey a clear message of strengthening and encouraging the settlements.”

Reacting to Sunday’s violence, the Yesh Din group condemned the lack of accountability for settler aggression, stating, “Settler violence against innocent Palestinians without a response” reflects the message conveyed by Katz and the Tel Aviv regime “when they seek to ‘strengthen and encourage’ the settlements.”

Settlers establish new illegal outpost

On Friday a group of Israeli settlers laid a base course on land belonging to the village of al-Naqura, northwest of Nablus

Hashim Mohsen, the head of the al-Naqura Village Council, told WAFA that the settlers have taken this step as preparation for placing caravans and establishing a colonial outpost on village land.

According to Mohsen, the settlers had previously bulldozed agricultural land owned by several Palestinian residents in the Ain Qibla area.

He pointed out that the settlers threatened that any attempts to approach the land would result in the destruction of all nearby greenhouses owned by local farmers, adding that the targeted area lies just 50 meters away from Palestinian homes
Israeli settlers in the area routinely target Palestinian farmers, stealing their crops and water pumps while damaging irrigation systems, Mohsen noted.

Following the events of October 7, 2023, attacks by settlers in the occupied West Bank have significantly intensified, with settlers establishing new outposts under the tacit approval of the Israeli government.

Murad Ishtiwi, Director of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission in the northern West Bank, stressed that the Israeli government’s plan to increase the settler population in the northern West Bank to one million by 2050 reflects a deliberate strategy of gradual "annexation"

Gazans celebrate ceasefire

KHAN YOUNIS, Gaza Strip - Gazans in Khan Younis celebrated on Sunday after a ceasefire was reached between Israel and Hamas

It ended 15 months of hostilities that claimed over 46,000 Palestinian lives.

"Despite losing my son who was martyred, praise be to God today we have joy. After a year and three months, praise be to God. We cannot count the martyrs and we cannot count the wounded. The situation was very, very difficult for us. But praise be to God, after a year, God has relieved us and honored us," Sanaa al-Sisi, a resident of Gaza, told Rudaw.

The ceasefire, set to begin early Sunday, was delayed by nearly three hours after Israel announced it had not received the list of hostages to be released.

An estimated 60% of Gaza's buildings have been either damaged or destroyed, according to an analysis of Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellite data
Abdulhameed Sharrab is another resident of Gaza. He called on the international community to reconstruct Gaza.

"At this stage, we hope donor countries and parties will contribute to Gaza's reconstruction efforts. The occupation has destroyed everything in Gaza, therefore urgent and immediate efforts are needed for reconstruction so people can return to their homes and dwellings, and so they can feel safe and secure in the next phase," he said.

The war began after Hamas launched an incursion into Israel on October 7, 2023, killing over 1,100 and taking around 250 hostages.

Confrontations mount in Jenin
    9 martyred, dozens wounded
The Palestinian Resistance is fiercely fighting the Israeli occupation forces invading Jenin as part of the latest Israeli military operation, which has thus far killed nearly a dozen and wounded scores of others

Palestinian resistance forces in Jenin continue to confront Israeli occupation forces amid an unprecedented military assault on the city and its refugee camp. The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades - Jenin reported that their fighters are engaging in intense armed clashes with the Israeli forces, employing heavy gunfire and explosive devices.

Field reports indicate that a Palestinian explosive device targeted an Israeli armored personnel carrier in Jenin, leading to injuries among the soldiers. An Al Mayadeen correspondent reported that the Israeli military is working to evacuate its wounded from the site of the explosion.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday evening that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression in Jenin has risen to nine, with approximately 40 others injured
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that its teams transported one martyr from the Harat al-Damaj neighborhood in Jenin camp, alongside another individual wounded by live fire.

Among the martyrs of the Israeli operation identified by medical sources are Motaz Abu Tabeekh, Raed Abu Saba, Ahmed Shayeb, Ameen Zawayda Salahat, Khalil al-Saadi, and Abdul Wahhab al-Saadi.

Israeli forces have escalated their assault on Jenin, including surrounding a house in the village of Ta’anak, northwest of the city, and conducting aerial bombardments on the Harat al-Safouri neighborhood in the camp. Reports suggest that the Israeli occupation forces deployed additional reinforcements to Jenin, with bulldozers destroying infrastructure and roads across the city.

Israel storms Jenin

Earlier in the day, Israeli forces stormed Jenin and its camp, accompanied by military bulldozers and drones. Drone strikes targeted a vacant vehicle near al-Zahra School in the camp’s vicinity, while Apache helicopters fired rounds into the airspace over the area.

The occupation forces also launched dense smoke bombs inside Jenin camp, sealed off its entrances, and seized a house, converting it into a military post in the Khalet al-Souha area. Streets in Jabal Abu Thahir were bulldozed as additional military reinforcements surrounded the camp
The Israeli military announced its campaign on Jenin and its camp amidst threats from Israeli ministers to escalate tensions across the West Bank.

Since Monday, occupation forces have installed iron gates at the entrances of towns and villages across the West Bank, intensifying a blockade that isolates entire regions and restricts the movement of Palestinians, effectively imposing collective punishment
In addition to the assault on Jenin, Israeli forces stormed the village of Deir Istiya, northwest of Salfit, and the Shuafat refugee camp, north of occupied al-Quds, as part of their broader campaign against the Palestinian territories.

Full-scale invasion

Jenin Governor Kamel Abu Roub described the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Jenin and its refugee camp as a full-scale invasion, speaking to AFP on Monday.

Meanwhile, Moayad Shaaban, head of the Palestinian Authority's Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, stated, "It is evident that the Israeli government is conducting a coordinated campaign to bolster settlers in the West Bank, especially after tensions in Gaza subsided."

Political analyst and writer Jihad Harb interpreted the events in Jenin as "a political maneuver aimed at appeasing far-right minister Bezalel Smotrich and the extreme right to preserve the government coalition following their discontent with the ceasefire agreement in Gaza
The Israeli military has announced the start of a new military campaign in the West Bank city of Jenin, which it dubbed the "Iron Wall".

Israeli media reported that the campaign was executed by order of the political echelon, following a Cabinet meeting last Friday, which added the West Bank to the goals of the ongoing war.

Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz said the military operation in Jenin was "prepared to protect settlers and settlement outposts in the area," while an Israeli security source told Israeli media that "the operation in Jenin will be unprecedented in its size and scope."

Israeli media further noted that the Israeli military, Shin Bet, and "Border Guards" began an operation meant to "foil terrorism" in Jenin, which will continue for the coming days, asserting that a large IOF force has advanced on Jenin from all directions after the Shin Bet disrupted internet communications throughout the Jenin Refugee Camp.

Resistance will prevail in Jenin

Palestinian factions have condemned the Israeli military operation, dubbed "Iron Wall," in Jenin. Hamas declared that the military campaign would fail, as all previous operations against the resilient Palestinian people and their steadfast resistance had.

In a statement, Hamas called for a general mobilization and urged Palestinians to confront the Israeli assault. It criticized the Palestinian Authority's withdrawal from the vicinity of Jenin camp at the start of the military operation, following a 48-day siege of the camp. The group also accused the PA of obstructing agreements with resistance fighters and ignoring national calls to halt its actions against activists.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) described the "Iron Wall" operation as "part of the genocidal campaign waged by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people." The group emphasized that the attack reflected the occupation's desperation following its failure to achieve its goals in Gaza. It also accused the Israeli occupation of attempting to disrupt the joy of Palestinians over the recent release of detainees, using the aggression on Jenin as a political distraction to stabilize its faltering government coalition
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) called for an escalation of resistance in response to the occupation's crimes, emphasizing that the Palestinian people possess the experience and resilience to thwart Israeli plans. The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) echoed these sentiments, asserting that the ongoing aggression and tightened blockades in the West Bank would not weaken the growing resistance, particularly in its northern areas.

The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement stated that the assault on Jenin reflected the occupation's frustration over its inability to suppress the resistance in Gaza. It emphasized that the attack was a form of retaliation against Palestinians celebrating the release of detainees and a testament to the occupation's failure to achieve its objectives.

Palestinian factions, including Hamas, the PIJ, the PFLP, and others, vowed to continue the struggle against Israeli aggression. "The enemy's illusions and its so-called 'Iron Wall' will shatter in Jenin, just as its iron swords were broken in Gaza," a statement from the Resistance Committees read. "Jenin will remain a bastion of heroism and resistance, unyielding in the face of aggression."
The factions reiterated their commitment to resist the occupation through all means, emphasizing that the escalating attacks would only strengthen their resolve. They called on the Palestinian people to stand united and confront the occupation's actions, which they described as barbaric and fascist attempts to suppress a defiant and enduring resistance.

Israeli violations of ceasefire

Observers warn that the fragility of the truce could jeopardize its longevity and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis

A high-ranking source within the Palestinian Resistance informed Al Mayadeen on Tuesday that Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza continue unabated, particularly through "the ongoing presence of reconnaissance drones over Gaza's skies."

The source added that mediators "warned Israel that continuing these violations jeopardizes the agreement." He also noted that "the Palestinian resistance has warned the Israeli side against persisting in such actions, affirming its readiness to confront these breaches in an appropriate manner."

Ceasefire Violations

On Monday, a source from the resistance leadership disclosed to Al Mayadeen that "several Israeli breaches of the agreement have occurred, including drone activity and shooting at civilians." The source stressed that "these violations, especially the shooting at civilians, threaten the agreement."

These violations have had deadly consequences, with reports emerging just a day after the ceasefire went into effect. According to the Civil Defense in Gaza, 122 martyrs were brought to hospitals within 24 hours after the ceasefire was announced, including 62 bodies retrieved from beneath the rubble.

The Civil Defense also revealed that, since the aggression began, over 38,000 bodies have been recovered, with around 2,400 martyrs disintegrating without leaving a trace. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported 341 injuries within the same 24-hour period, highlighting the fragile state of the truce.

The Resistance source confirmed to Al Mayadeen that "Qatari and Egyptian mediators are actively monitoring the situation and working with Hamas, the Americans, and the Israelis to ensure the agreement's implementation." Despite ongoing violations, hundreds of trucks carrying food and medical supplies have entered Gaza through the Rafah border crossing as part of a "humanitarian protocol" facilitated by Qatar.

Fragile Truce

The ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation came into effect on Sunday, January 19, 2025. However, it was quickly violated by the occupation, resulting in casualties, including martyrs and injuries. Israeli officials, including the Prime Minister and the army, publicly stated their non-compliance with the agreement.

The initial days of the truce "proceeded smoothly in terms of prisoner exchanges and the delivery of aid," according to the resistance leadership. As part of the ongoing exchanges, "four Israeli women held in Gaza are set to be released in exchange for 120 Palestinian detainees." However, the occupation has continued its drone activity and gunfire, threatening the agreement's stability.

Despite the challenges, the ceasefire terms require the daily entry of 600 aid trucks and the delivery of 200,000 tents and 60,000 caravans for urgent shelter needs in Gaza. Observers warn that the fragility of the truce could jeopardize its longevity and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.

Gazans face major challenges

The Gazans who are returning to their homes following the recent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas movement will face major challenges as the city’s infrastructure has been ruined, a senior official from the Palestinian group said on Thursday

“The main challenge lies in enabling people to resume their normal lives after the massive destruction the sector has witnessed,” Basim Naim, a senior Hamas official, told Rudaw, adding that there must be an initiative to fill the needs of Gazans in terms of food, water, medicine and fuel.

He noted that there is a plan to hold an international event seeking humanitarian aid for Gaza.

There is plan for “a major international conference, with regional and international actors participating, aimed at gathering necessary funding for Gaza's reconstruction," where "it is estimated that the sector has suffered destruction ranging between 70 percent and 80 percent, including homes, schools, universities, hospitals, churches, as well as infrastructure such as water wells and electricity networks."
An estimated 60 percent of structures across Gaza have been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.

The destruction has left much of Gaza’s population without basic living necessities such as a kitchen and a bathroom, let alone living spaces.

The ceasefire comes after months of arduous, on-and-off negotiations mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.

Israel led a massive ongoing offensive in Gaza, killing more than 46,000 people, mostly civilians, according to the Palestinian health ministry
Naim did not hide his concern that "the enemy might breach the agreement terms at any moment, through carrying out assassination operations or committing killings here or there," warning that "the resistance will respond, however, the main goal remains working together to make the agreement successful and achieve stability."

According to the agreement, the Rafah crossing will open starting from the seventh day of implementing the agreement, allowing travelers to exit through Egypt, with initial priority given to the wounded and sick, where limited numbers including fifty wounded and fifty sick have been agreed upon.

However, Naim confirmed that actual treatment needs outside Gaza Strip far exceed these numbers. According to estimates, there are about 120,000 wounded, "of whom at least 10,000 to 15,000 wounded are in urgent need of treatment outside the sector, due to the massive destruction of health infrastructure and medical services inside Gaza."
Naim said resuming normal life in Gaza Strip needs several basic conditions, most importantly ensuring continued calm, with Israeli side commitment to implementing agreement terms, in addition to opening all crossings to bring in basic needs continuously and without obstacles.

Time has come for West Bank

The Israeli occupation is seeking to sow death and destruction in the West Bank after Gaza in light of the bloody military operation they are carrying out

Israeli drones fitted with loudspeakers ordered people to leave their homes in Jenin on Thursday, residents said, as the military demolished several houses during the third day of a major operation in the West Bank city.

Israeli officials said the operations targeted Resistance groups in the refugee camp adjacent to the city. "We need to be prepared to continue in the Jenin camp that will bring it to a different place," Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, head of the Israeli occupation forces, said in a statement.

Armored bulldozers have torn up roads, and hundreds of residents have fled their homes in the camp after being ordered to evacuate.

"Yesterday, we did not want to leave; we were at home," said 16-year-old Hussam Saadi. "Today, they sent down a drone to our neighborhood, telling us to leave the camp and that they will blow it up."
The raid, the third major operation by the Israeli military in Jenin in less than two years, has drawn international concern. France and Jordan have issued warnings against further escalation in the West Bank, an area that has experienced increased violence since the onset of the war in Gaza.

An Al Mayadeen correspondent reported that the head of the Israeli Shin Bet security agency and the Chief of Staff conducted an evaluation of the situation in Jenin amid an intensified Israeli aggression. The head of Shin Bet was quoted as saying, "The time for the West Bank has come."

The Israeli forces are currently carrying out widespread arrests in Jenin, Ya’bad, and Qabatiya. The correspondent highlighted concerns among observers that the military operation could expand from Jenin to other parts of the West Bank, potentially leading to a larger-scale escalation
According to the correspondent, the Israeli occupation forces appear determined to evacuate residents from the Jenin refugee camp to carry out their military objectives.

Palestinian Resistance forces in the occupied West Bank have continued to confront Israeli forces amid a second day of intense confrontations. Israeli troops, who have besieged homes and assaulted Palestinians during their incursions into towns, are facing fierce resistance from local factions.

The al-Quds Brigades - Jenin Battalion announced that its fighters in the Burqin unit engaged in fierce battles with Israeli forces near a besieged house. The group reported using heavy gunfire and explosives against Israeli troops and vehicles, claiming confirmed hits. Similarly, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade - Jenin Battalion stated that its fighters were involved in intense firefights with Israeli forces near the besieged house in the town of Burqin, west of Jenin.

Local media reported that Resistance fighters detonated an explosive device targeting an Israeli bulldozer in Jenin while engaging in combat with Israeli forces. According to witnesses, special forces infiltrated the area, surrounded a house, and used loudspeakers to order its occupants to evacuate. Israeli drones also launched several missiles at the site.

Israeli forces deployed reinforcements, including a military bulldozer, and began demolishing parts of the house. Burqin Mayor Hassan Sobh accused Israeli forces of using women as human shields and forcing families out of the besieged residence before initiating the demolition
Despite these measures, resistance fighters inside the house reportedly refused to surrender, continuing to fire at Israeli forces. An Israeli drone also opened fire in the Dammaj neighborhood of Jenin refugee camp, intensifying the violence.

Freed Palestinian prisoner recounts
    horrors within Israeli prisons
Mahmoud Samer Jabarin detailed the dreadful living conditions and recounted how prisoners were completely cut off from the world, beaten, tortured, and given barely any food

A freshly released Palestinian prisoner described Israeli jails as "graveyards for the living," detailing horrifying stories of torture, overcrowding, and demeaning treatment during his seven-year incarceration, Anadolu reported.

Mahmoud Samer Jabarin, a resident of the Jenin Refugee Camp in the northern occupied West Bank, was released on Saturday as part of the exchange deal with "Israel".

Detained on February 4, 2019, and sentenced to ten years in jail, Jabarin told Anadolu after being released that he spent 7 years in the prison system, recalling how the period during the war on Gaza was the hardest. "We endured torture, beatings, and humiliation.”

He described the dreadful living conditions and recounted how prisoners were completely cut off from the world, beaten, tortured, and given barely any food.

Jabarin highlighted the brutality that detainees faced, frequently in the middle of the night. "Israeli special forces would storm our cells at 2 am, assaulting us, spraying us with cold water, and firing tear gas without any reason," he said.

"Each room, barely 12 square meters, housed 12 prisoners with no mattresses," according to Jabarin.

Israeli occupation forces also hurdled verbal abuse regularly, according to Jabarin, detailing how they were often told they should not be alive and "deserve to be crushed."

Jabarin thanked everyone who helped in their release and expressed he wished to return to his home in Jenin Refugee Camp. However, he could not amid the large-scale aggression initiated by the IOF.

Two Palestinians martyred in bombing

Confrontations escalate in the occupied West Bank as the Israeli occupation forces conduct military operations aimed at senior resistance commanders

Two Palestinians were martyred, including Ihab Abu Atiwi, the commander of the al-Qassam Brigades in the Tulkarm Refugee Camp, following an Israeli airstrike that targeted their vehicle in the Nur Shams Refugee Camp. Three others were injured in the attack.

Israeli forces deployed reinforcements after special forces infiltrated the Tulkarm camp, intensifying their operations in the area.

Desperate attempt to eliminate the resistance

In a statement, Hamas condemned the assassination as a "desperate attempt to eliminate the resistance." The group emphasized that this targeted killing reflects the continued crimes and massacres of the Israeli occupation, aiming to suppress the resistance that continues to strike fear into the hearts of the occupation forces with its operations.

Hamas mourned the loss of Ihab Abu Atiwi and fellow fighter Ramez Dumeiri, asserting that their blood would not be in vain. The movement vowed that their sacrifices would fuel the escalation of resistance efforts and ongoing heroic operations.

The statement also highlighted the timing of the assassination, coinciding with the intensification of Israeli operations across the West Bank, particularly in Jenin and its surrounding refugee camps. Hamas asserted that these violent attacks would not bring the Israeli occupation security or stability, but rather ignite further unrest among Israeli soldiers and settlers.

Hamas called on the people of the West Bank to escalate confrontations and resistance against the occupation and its settlers as part of the ongoing Operation al-Aqsa Flood. The movement urged the Palestinian masses to continue disrupting and destabilizing the security of the Israeli occupation.

Earlier in the day, Israeli forces stormed the town of Tarqumya, west of al-|Khalil, and the al-Aroub refugee camp in northern al-Khalil. Palestinian resistance fighters in the West Bank have continued to fiercely confront Israeli forces, who have surrounded homes, assaulted civilians, and invaded several towns across the region.

IOF kill 2-year-old child

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported the martyrdom of Abdul Jawad Al-Ghoul, a 26-year-old who succumbed to injuries inflicted by occupation forces’ gunfire during last Tuesday’s incursion. Also, two-year-old Leila Al-Khatib was martyred after being shot in the head by an Israeli sniper at Al-Shuhada Triangle, south of Jenin.

While Resistance fighters continued to confront the Israeli forces, the IOF admitted that three of its soldiers were injured, one critically, during the confrontations.

In a statement, the commander of the Al-Quds Brigades in the West Bank said that the Resistance would eventually disclose details proving that "Israel’s" failure to secure a symbolic victory in Gaza would be mirrored in Jenin. He added that Resistance fighters have consistently ambushed Israeli forces and their military vehicles, showcasing their unyielding defiance.

The United Nations has recently expressed serious concerns about the Israeli military's actions during its recent raid in the West Bank, describing the use of force as employing methods "developed for war fighting."

"We are deeply concerned by the use of unlawful lethal force in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank," UN human rights office spokesman Thameen al-Kheetan told a media briefing in Geneva.

Life expectancy in Gaza cut in half

International organizations have repeatedly warned that Israel's military campaign has led to catastrophic living conditions for Gaza's 2.3 million residents

A new study published in The Lancet reveals a drastic decline in life expectancy in Gaza between October 2023 and September 2024 due to the ongoing war. The research attributes this sharp drop to the devastating humanitarian crisis and unprecedented loss of life caused by "Israel's" genocidal war.

According to the findings, life expectancy in Gaza has fallen by an average of 34.9 years in the first year of the war, with men experiencing a steeper decline than women. The study indicates that this reduction amounts to nearly half of pre-war levels and signals a humanitarian disaster on an unprecedented scale.

Life Expectancy Plummets for Men and Women

The researchers compared official mortality data from Gaza's Ministry of Health with records from UNRWA's refugee registry, analyzing changes in death rates relative to the 2017 Palestinian census. Their findings confirm previous reports from Gaza's health authorities, reinforcing concerns over the war's long-term demographic impact.

Before the war, the average life expectancy for men in Gaza was 73.6 years. As of September 2024, it has dropped to just 35.6 years—a 51.6% decline.

For women, life expectancy fell from 77.5 years to 47.5 years, marking a 38.6% decline.

The study's findings expose the war's toll on Gaza's population. The scale of the losses and destruction has erased decades of progress in public health and life expectancy, pushing the region into an irreversible humanitarian crisis.

Unprecedented Humanitarian Collapse

International organizations have repeatedly warned that Israel's military campaign has led to catastrophic living conditions for Gaza's 2.3 million residents.

With Gaza's healthcare system near total collapse and tens of thousands of martyrs reported, researchers warn that further declines in life expectancy are likely if the war continues.

Humanitarian groups stress that urgent international intervention is needed to halt the crisis, lift the siege, and prevent further mass civilian deaths.

On Tuesday, UNRWA's chief, Philippe Lazzarini, warned that halting the agency's activities could destabilize the fragile Gaza ceasefire and severely hamper efforts to rebuild the devastated Strip.

"In two days, our operations in the occupied Palestinian territory will be crippled, as legislation passed by the Israeli Knesset takes effect," he said. "At stake is the fate of millions of Palestinians, the ceasefire, and the prospects for a political solution that brings lasting peace and security."

How West Bank aggression
could endanger Gaza ceasefire

The spike in violence should send a powerful message to all those who believe that the occupation can be trusted on the Gaza ceasefire: it has simply shifted the center of its brutal aggression to the West Bank

Israeli attacks on Palestine’s West Bank continue to take on a new intensity. In the wake of the Gaza ceasefire, Israeli occupation forces and settlers have worked in tandem to attack innocent Palestinians, opening fire and injuring scores of individuals.

The spike in violence should send a powerful message to all those who believe that the occupation can be trusted on the Gaza ceasefire: it has simply shifted the center of its brutal aggression to the West Bank.

“Her mother was feeding her when she got a bullet from the sniper in her head," said the grandmother of Laila al-Khatib, the two-year-old Palestinian girl shot and killed by occupation forces over the weekend. This violence cannot be seen in isolation and has the potential to disrupt the Gaza ceasefire.

Take the Israeli forces’ violent raid at Al-Aqsa Mosque in 2023 into account. The deadly event became a catalyst for spillovers elsewhere, promoting escalations and increasing the scope of confrontations manifold. At present, "Israel" is testing the Resistance’s ability to respond to its deadly onslaught in the occupied West Bank and is creating conditions that could prompt more fitting reactions.

Realities on the ground speak for themselves: hundreds of Palestinians in the Jenin refugee camp were forced to leave their homes and the casualty count in the occupied West Bank has reached double-digits. By pushing to expand "large scale" occupation raids, Israel shows few signs of bringing its terror campaign to a halt.

Continuation could put the Gaza ceasefire on thin ice, where both sides are expected to operate in good faith. These expanding raids also put a premium on stamping out groups that are committed to protecting Palestine’s freedoms. If violence in the occupied West Bank spirals out of control in the future, an already-fragile Gaza ceasefire may not hold firm.

The value of the ceasefire is impossible to ignore. Legions of Palestinians are finally returning to their homes in northern Gaza, having borne the brunt of a raging genocide that confined their home soil to rubble. The ceasefire also reaffirms the Resistance’s commitment to its people, as well as their freedoms and liberties as it prioritizes their interests in the captive exchange.

Israel appears hellbent on introducing new risks to that arrangement. It has been using sophisticated weaponry and deadly warfare techniques to attack the Jenin refugee camp and proudly claims that "lessons" from the Gaza genocide are being applied to the occupied West Bank. Why should Resistance groups hold back?

It is Palestinian blood that is being targeted from Gaza to the occupied West Bank, and Israel feels it can normalize repeated massacres and avoid any consequences. There are also reports that Israel is tightening the screws around the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), calling it to “vacate all premises in occupied East Jerusalem and cease its operations in them by 30 January 2025.”

This move should be seen as part of a broader effort to strangle critical assistance to Palestinians in both Gaza and the occupied West Bank. After all, UNRWA wields a central role in humanitarian assistance across these territories. The timing of a potential UNRWA ban thus coincides with Israel’s raging West Bank warfare, suggesting a conscious strategy to further entrench the occupation – while projecting itself as committed to the Gaza truce.

All this offers a solid reason for Resistance groups – across the aisle – to be on the alert for Israel’s future transgressions and understand the notorious logic behind its criminal campaigning. “As the long-awaited ceasefire in Gaza took place, Israel’s death machinery escalated its firing in the West Bank, killing 10 people in Jenin today”, said UN Rapporteur on Human Rights in Palestine, Francesca Albanese, in a recent post on X. “If it is not forced to stop, Israel’s genocide of Palestinians will not be confined to Gaza. Mark my words.”

There are clues that Israel won’t stop at anything. In the words of war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, occupation massacres in Palestine’s West Bank are tied to a so-called ‘battle’ with Resistance groups across Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.

This rhetoric is similar to the falsehoods touted by the genocidal regime to justify its mass extermination campaign in Gaza, upending lives, displacing legions of residents, and pushing the aggregate death toll beyond 47,300. However, the genocide didn’t prevent groups allied with the Palestinian cause from responding to occupation terrorism. Little suggests this would change if Israel pushed West Bank terrorism to an unprecedented extreme.

And so, backers of the Gaza ceasefire have been warned, once again, that the greatest obstacle to a pause in hostilities is none other than the occupation. A genocidal regime pardoned by many in the West feels empowered to escalate its terror campaign, rather than cease it in the interests of relative calm
But as Palestinian Resistance groups have shown thus far, brutal injustices will be met with a proportional response.

Hamas frees eight hostages
Israel puts prisoner release on hold

Three Israelis and five Thai nationals were freed amid chaotic scenes in Gaza on Thursday in the third exchange of its kind since a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas took hold earlier this month

In exchange, Israel was supposed to release 110 Palestinian prisoners later in the day, including around 30 serving life sentences for deadly attacks against Israelis.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the move was put on hold until the “safe release” of hostages can be assured, in protest over the chaos during the handover.

The first hostage to be released on Thursday morning, Agam Berger, was first shown on stage by armed militants in Khan Younis before being handed to the Red Cross and then transferred to the Israeli military.

The 20-year-old was kidnapped on 7 October 2023 from the Nahal Oz military base on the border with Gaza when Hamas militants ambushed southern Israel.

Berger worked as an observer at the base. She had just started in the position two days prior to the attack, according to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

Hours after her release a chaotic scene unfolded with the second Israeli hostage, Arbel Yehud, looking stunned as masked militants hustled her through a shouting crowd. Hundreds of Hamas militants had gathered to watch the exchange, some from the tilted rooftops of bombed-out buildings.

Netanyahu called the scene “shocking" and asked international mediators to ensure the safety of hostages in future releases.

The other Israeli citizen released was identified as Gadi Moses.

The names of the Thai hostages — believed to be agricultural workers who were captured from their workplaces during Hamas' 7 October attack — have also been released.

Their names are Watchara Sriuan, Bannawat Seatho, Sathian Suwannakham, Pongsak Tanna and Surasak Lamnau.

Thailand's government said a total of six of its nationals were being held captive in Gaza, with Nattapong Pinta's whereabouts still unknown. Two other Thai hostages are believed to be dead.

The names of all the prisoners that were set to be released from their sentences in Israel are not known but include 32 serving life sentences and 30 women and children.

Zakaria Zubeidi, a prominent former militant leader and theatre director who took part in a dramatic jailbreak in 2021, was slated as one of the people to be released.

So far, seven female hostages have been freed in exchange for more than 290 Palestinians from Israeli jails.

On Saturday, a fourth hostage release involving three men is scheduled to take place, according to the Israeli government.

The ceasefire agreement was reached this month after a year of painstaking negotiations brokered by the US, Egypt and Qatar.

Israeli forces wreaking havoc
    in occupied West Bank
The Israeli occupation military continues its aggression in the occupied West Bank, sending additional military reinforcements to Jenin in the north, while destroying civilian properties and infrastructure in the city

This comes as Israeli occupation forces have completely emptied the Jenin camp, forcing out its residents, estimated at more than 22,000 people, amid mass detainments in the city and neighboring villages.

The Prisoners Information Office reported that the occupation forces detained released prisoner Rami Abu al-Robb, along with two Palestinian youths, Amin al-Ashab, and Ayman Alawneh, from the town of Qabatia, south of Jenin, as well as a youth from the town of Arraba, southwest of the city, according to Palestinian media outlets.

In the Tulkarm refugee camp in the northern West Bank, the occupation forces blew up a house, while in the eastern neighborhood of Tulkarm city, they raided commercial shops and searched them.

Israeli forces also detained Red Crescent crews at the entrance to the Tulkarm refugee camp and fired sonic grenades at press crews while they were conducting interviews with displaced individuals
In the same context, confrontations erupted between Palestinian Resistance fighters and the occupation forces during their raid on the village of Osarin, south of Nablus in the northern West Bank. The Israeli forces also stormed the village of Madama, south of Nablus, and fired smoke bombs intensively.

The occupation forces also raided the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilya in the northern West Bank, where they stormed Palestinian homes.

In the village of al-Mughair, northeast of Ramallah, three Palestinian youths were injured by gunfire from an Israeli drone. In the city of al-Bireh, Israeli forces forced locals to close the reception area for released prisoner Zakaria al-Zubaidi and raided the town of Ein Yabrud, east of Ramallah.

In the southern West Bank, the occupation forces raided the town of Idna, west of al-Khalil, and stormed the home of released prisoner Izz al-Din Awad.

Simultaneously with the ongoing Israeli assaults, the al-Quds Brigades and the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades in Jenin announced that their Resistance fighters engaged in fierce battles and confrontations with the occupation forces, using machine guns and explosive devices, landing direct casualties.

Five Arab foreign ministers reject forced
    displacement of Palestinians
The meeting came after US President Donald Trump floated an idea to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and Jordan

Cairo, Egypt (AFP) - Top diplomats from Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar rejected any forcible displacement of Palestinians during a meeting in Cairo on Saturday, according to a joint statement.

The foreign ministers rejected any "infringement of the inalienable rights" of Palestinians, whether by "settlement, expulsion, home demolitions, annexation, depopulation of the land of its people through displacement, encouraged transfer or the uprooting of Palestinians from their land".

Both Egypt and Jordan - key US allies in the region - have repeatedly rejected Trump's proposal to "clean out" the Gaza Strip.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said Wednesday that the "displacement of the Palestinian people from their land is an injustice that we cannot take part in".

The foreign ministers added Saturday that they "look forward to working with the administration of US President Donald Trump to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, in accordance with the two-state solution"
The meeting included Arab League secretary general Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Hussein al-Sheikh, secretary general of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization.

Two days after Israel severed all ties with the UN's main aid agency for Palestinians, UNRWA, the ministers also affirmed the "pivotal, indispensable and irreplaceable role" of the agency, "categorically rejecting any attempts to bypass it or limit its role".
