Arab politicians are warning that a Kurdish withdrawal from Iraq’s political process would lead to the collapse of the country’s political and constitutional order, amid mounting tensions over Baghdad’s decision to cut salaries for public sector employees in the Kurdistan Region

Mashaan al-Jubouri, an Iraqi politician, said on his social media platform (X) that the Kurds were “main partners in overthrowing Saddam Hussein’s regime and in opening international doors for the Iraqi opposition.”

He emphasized that the consequences of their potential withdrawal would be disastrous.

“The withdrawal of Kurds from the political process is not merely the departure of a component, but it will cause the collapse of a part of national legitimacy, the consequences of which Iraq will find very difficult to bear,” al-Jubouri warned.

“Only dialogue is the solution, and nothing else can be a substitute.”

The Kurdistan Region has reacted strongly to a decision by the Iraqi Ministry of Finance to withhold the salaries of its civil servants.

Kurdish political factions and the general public have denounced the move as unconstitutional, illegal, and a form of collective punishment aimed at pressuring the region.

Kurdish officials argue that the decision disrespects the dignity of employees and is part of a broader policy of undermining the Region’s autonomy and rights under the Iraqi constitution. A unified Kurdish stance is expected in the coming days.

Echoing al-Jubouri’s remarks, Iraqi writer and political commentator Salem al-Jumaili also warned of the grave implications if Kurdish representatives withdraw from Baghdad.

“The withdrawal of Kurds from the political process is not just the departure of a component, but it means the fall of the constitution, the collapse of the government, and the collapse of electoral legitimacy,” al-Jumaili wrote on X.

Kurdish political parties are currently engaged in high-level consultations to determine a collective response.

There are growing calls within the Region for firm action, with leaders warning that ongoing constitutional violations by Baghdad could lead to irreversible consequences for Iraq’s unity and governance.

Time Kurds took back their lands from the evil land stealing, oil stealing, murdering Iraqi scum, claimed Kurdish Independence, sold their own oil and arrested the TRAITOR Bafel Talabani.

In no other country in the world would a lying treasonous pig such as Bafel Talabani be allowed to walk free X(
