I bet this is question plaguing many people across the world. How could the World's super power struggle to maintain order in a country far inferior to its own.

Well the answer is stance. America virtually has no allies in Iraq. It is has a supportive Kurdish area, but they are more mainly neutral due to the fact they prefer to secede from Iraq rather than remain a part of it. Right? The Shiites hate America. The Sunnis hate America. America is just acting like a police force in Iraq rather than as an actual military presence.

What America should do is side with someone entirely. The reason why it doesn't side with the Shiites because of Iran. The reason why it doesn't side with the Sunnis is because of Syria, Baaths, and al Queda. The Reason why it doesn't side with the Kurds is because of Turkey.

In my humble opinion. the United States should completely side with the Kurds and insure their prosperity. There are factors important to address.

1) Kurdistan has oil that it would gladly supply the United States.
2) Kurdistan's existence would insure a division in aggression against Israel, which is of U.S. interest.
3) Kurdistan's people are the most likely to support peace, thus the best interest of the Middle-East.

The only thing the United States might have to take a part in regulating is the promise to Assyrians and Iraqi Turkmen (which aren't actually Turkmen) to have their own states too so they can rally amongst the Kurds in assuring peace.

America should consider buying the land off from Turkey, which would have been far less expensive than how the war as progressed thus far in Iraq, and give it to Kurdistan.

America should consider giving an appology to Iran for the trouble America has done by supporting Saddam's war against Iran.

America should pay for the land in Syria and Iran that belongs to the Kurds and then work with the Kurds to make Assyria and Turkmeneli (Iraqi Turkmen's state).

The Turkmen of Iraq are not to be confused with the Turkmen of Central Asia who reside primarily in Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Iran. Iraqi Turkmen form a distinct group within the Oghuz Turk classification, which includes Ottoman Turks, modern Turks and Azeris.

The Turkmen of Iraq are more closer related to the Azeris than they are to the Turkemen of Turkmenistan.

America after establishing the Swiss government in Kurdistan should pull back into Afghanistan, capture and kill Bin Laden, and then completely stay out of the Middle-East, except for Tourism and should only involve it self in a war that is placed against Kurdistan or Assyria.

Due to America's absense, it will be up to the Kurds to insure peace in that region.

What are the turkmen of Iraq??

Are they a landless people? How can they be? how did they get there? I thought they were turks from ottoman times

Im not very sure that the oil in kurdistan is something the US wants, seeing as they have taken all oil from iraq :p

USA never gets enough, not in this situation, USA will collapse if they don't get incomes soon. The war has cost them several milliards of dollars which should have been used on infrastructure instead, both in Iraq and USA.

The origin of the Iraqi Turkmen dates back to the Al-Ma'mun and Al-Mu'tasim rules of Abbasid in 9th century. Most of the Turkmen living in the region settled in northern Iraq during the early Seljuk Empire period, when Turks migrated from Central Asia (Turkestan) to Anatolia, Iran and Iraq. A recent addition to this population stock was by the Ottoman Empire who brought some Turks from Anatolia to the region to secure and transport mail from Baghdad to Istanbul and vice versa in the 18th century. Others were sent to the region by the Ottomans to repel tribal raids.[6] These groups settled at the entrances of the valleys that gave them access to Kurdish-dominated areas. This historic role of pacification has led to the development of strained relations between the Turkmen and the Kurds.[1] With the rise of Saddam Hussein and the Ba'ath domination over Iraq, a policy of Arabization was imposed on the Turkmen and the rest of Iraq's non-Arab minorities. It was declared in the constitution that schools were prohibited from using the Turkish language and banned Turkish-language media in Iraq. In the 1980s, Saddam prohibited the public use of the Turkish language completely.

They are probably a mix of Azeris, Seljuks, and Ottomans.

Millions? This is about to be called the Trillion dollar war. LOL!

But you see the whole point of this war was for people like Dick Cheney to benefit off of. Oil companies benefit and so do war manufactuars.

As for the oil part. There is oil in Kirkuk.

True, but as much as saddam hussein sold, i think iraq has/had more oil than any other arab country.

And im pretty sure the kurds are guarding it well, they dont have a civilwar.

But there has been many articles about oil money missing in iraq worth of 4 billion dollars

You are right it would be hard to take oil from them. But I don't know about buying oil from them.

I mean selling oil for the Kurds will do much more better than keeping it hidden. Because who is profitting? They are.
