Why Hayq people are called Armenian?

For years I've wondered why Hayq people are called Armenians? Recently I've been starting to think the reason that they are called Armenian is exactly the same way that Turks of Azarbaijan are called Azeri or Azarbaijani. indeed both Armenia and Azarbaijan were nothing but geographical names for eastern Anatolia and southern Caucasus. and both people who had no clue what is ethnic Azarbaijani or Armenian were labelled as such by colonialists in eithteenth and ninteenth centuries. It is both ironic and pathetic that Hayq people same as Turks of Azarbaijan claim the ancient lands of Armenia and Atropatene belong exclusively to them and not the actual natives of those lands. :D
What's your opinion?

Most people in Iran still use the term Tork for Azeris although it is true, the majority were Iranic peoples like Kurds, Talysh, Tat who lost their Iranic language and culture. Now some of the most ardent and racists pan-Turkists are from that area. But Armenians have a historical name.

That sounds very familiar. Ziya Gokalp, a Zaza from Cermik in Diyarbakir district, (but known as Kurdish by Turks and westerners) is one of the pioneers of Pan-Turkism and Turkish nationalism at begining of 20th century.

Arya wrote:...

Don't be upset if some Armenians are against Kurds. We also have some Kurds against Persians. Some Persians perhaps against Kurds. We all need to get our act together and work together unless there will just be a sea of Turks and Arabs in the future of the region.

I met a lot of Armenian people and my general feeling is that they are very good people, smart, and well educated. When I see an Armenian, I feel sad because of the genocide. They look like Iranian peoples; sometimes they ask me if I am Armenian.

No, Zazas are Iranic with no questions. The language is the proof. Zazaki is one of the purest Iranic languages. It still keeps the Proto-Iranian feminine/masculine/neuter grammar structure (which Persian lost 3000 years ago), and many of the Proto-Iranian sounds are well preserved.

There are some Armenian scholars believe that some Armenians assimilated into the Zaza population. During the genocide, some Armenians mixed to Zaza populations to save their lives. And for many Armenian that was the only way to survive. They mostly talk about those people. They are still in our hometown. I spent my childhood with them. However, they won't say they are Armenian. It's so sad that those people cannot be what they really are. However their population is not very significant.

Thats true, but this fact has to be used by some Armenians in political aims , because Armenians consider the big part of eastern Anatolia as their homeland(Western Armenia) and Kurds consider this land as Northen Kurdistan.

1) Hayq was name of a tribe in Caucasus who at seventh century BC apparently in reaction to Cimmerian raids immigrated southwards and pushed Urartians further south.
2) Strong majority of Armenian dynasties who ruled Hayq were of Iranic origins. one more example: add Orontids to your list too!
3) Before Kurds joined Turks in slaying Hayq people, Hayq were strongly promoted by foreign powers to attack muslims of the area and commited much bloodshed and atrocities.
4) Hayq if for some political propaganda allowed some Kurdish newspaper or Radio station to broadcast but in turn they erased whole of the Kurds of southern Caucasus (with the help of Russians).
5) Hayq to this day do not recognize Kurds as friends.

1) There is no similarity between Hay and Khatini or whatsoever. these are all laughable lies made for political reasons. probably turks have better arguments to support their sumerian claims than Hayq do, lol. This is clearly forging history for Hayq to use in their battle with Azarbaijani, and Anatolian Turks and even Kurds.

2)all those Iranic dynasties were ''rulers of Armenia (eastern Anatolia)'' but today they are falsified as Armenian dynasties where the geographic name of Armenia has been used as an ethnonym for Hayq.

3)The Kurdish people are always ready to defend themselves. probably you have no clue of what armed Christian militias did across northern and central Kurdistan to innocent Kurdish civilians. Kurd is Kurd and cannot tolerate indignity. they got more casualties, and today they call it genocide. and Kurds have no objection against this benaming. Kurds dont care actually.

4) what about Kurds in Kelbajar, Lachin and other areas? Hayq people showed no tolerance for them.

5)As Kurds we never want, and never thank Hayq for their fake studies on Kurds. they have done nothing but spreading lies.
