Arbil- Kurdistan Region’s President Massoud Barzani, who had earlier threatened to announce Kurdistan independence from Iraq, said he is against the state’s division and supports its unity.
“We are against Iraq’s division and supports its unity, but are against dictatorship,” Barzani said during a Thursday ceremony held to celebrate 236th year of U.S. independence in America’s Arbil consulate.
The U.S. backs Kurdistan Region in the wake of Iraq's unity and we would in no way support Iraq’s division, Barzani said despite his criticism against Prime Minister Nouri al- Maliki in his New Year speech where he threatened to announce Kurdistan Region’s independence from Iraq.
Barzani accused Maliki of trying to marginalizing minorities and heading the country towards dictatorship and threatened to “return to Kurdish people to decide about their future,” referring to possible the independence of Kurdistan region.
He, however, stepped back from his speech after his visit to Washington and White House’s support from Iraq’s unity.

Maybe USA dont support a indipendent Kurdistan, because Kurds dont make to much pressure like arabs do. So the US government think that Arabs will make more trouble as Kurds, so they decide to support iraq.

Barzani should not stop to make statements about independence, only with statements USA will not stop his support for Kurdistan, so Barzani can continue with that. And Barzani should say that also clearly to the US government that he will declare independence one day. After a few years the USA will see that Kurds dont give up this idea and they must learn to rethink their position.

But if KRG accept every statement from the USA, the USA will never rethink their position about a indeipendent Kurdistan.

I would also wait for the end of the pipeline I think all of us agreed that this would also be a good date to declare independence.

I believe now that Kurdistan will become in dependent after Syria and Iran got attacked, not sooner than that. Turkey will do nothing, because Anatolian Mongols are nobody and nothing in the modern world.

In a conference held in Hawler today , PDK PUK and Gorran spoke about independence and the necessary measures to be taken from now on.

if the kurds liberate qamislo, than independence is possible, since syria can produce 300 000 b/pd oil and all oil comes from kurdish region. pipeline exists there already and is ready to work.
