Historical Maps Of Our Homeland

PostAuthor: Gudea » Sat Oct 21, 2006 7:38 pm

Here is a map of Kurdistan (Gordyene) in Parthian era. I thought only Romans officially knew it as Corduene but I was not sure whether Parthians officially recognized it as such. but here it says so:
Image

Source: Britannica.

I found some credible historical maps of Kurdistan in Arabic script. one of them shows 'Kurdistan' even just before Selcuqs, i.e. under Ziyarids. (928-1043)

There are many untold/censored aspects of Kurdish history.

Exactly!

Searching for Kurdish history, cultural heritage and identity is like being a detective... You twist and turn each rock and stick at least twice to make sure it's "cleared" of any "maybe" or "perhaps"...

Thank you for this valuable map and I hope you share more of those maps with us, if you have any that is... :)

You mean - "Persian script"...

"Iranian" isn't a language... It's a group of languages... I know you know this - but as 90% of Bashûrî, you all use "Iranian" to mean "Persian"... Which of course is incorrect... Since I am "Iranian" too - in e.g. "I am from the country called Iran"...

all this Maps written by Persian are irrelevant, today even shamless you can find median empire as mixed with Persian empire history..totally tow sparate things, is like mixing Romania with china... whole things is misleading, most map today of Medes empire you can find in archives has been re written so called Iranian or Persian empire, entire those map is just suit Persian nationalism

Let me tell you something Dude!!
First well Medes empire did rule most part today so called Iran, Turkey, Armenia, Israel, Iraq, Syria, Georgia..etc... allot nation did live under such empire, so that dose not make us relative or cousins with them neither make us with Persian(hindo) etc...
Also Persian did rule Armenia, india, arbaiya?? So are you Arab? Armenian, hindo???
Median are Not iranic, stop your false and misleading Maps..Medes always considered pars as barbarian...never consider them as same race.
Our home is Media(Kurdistan) nothing else, if you believe then do not mix your sad past with us. Also as saying by most religion Noahs ship did how ever landed in Kurdistan so according to you then whole world can Call me BIG daddy Then!!!

That's Cordu+ene 'ene' is the Greek suffix for satraps or topynyms like persian ''-stan'' or even Iranic ''-an'' such as Gilan => Gil+an = land of Gils.

Some scholars blieve(d) that Kurds are descendants of medes, for which they brought some evidnce. Anyway, this year, 2006 it was proven that Ecbatana of Hamadan does NOT belong to Medes, and that medes never steppted to that area. it was proven that Ecbatana of Hasmadan was build at its most eraliest in the Parthian era, if not Aassanid era. Some think that we should rely on the Assyrian inscriptions, and for instance follow the Sargons map to Medeian capital which indicates it is located somewhere in southern/or eastern Kurdistan between Mehabad-Slémani-Sine. If this was true then the Median theory for Kurds will be much more stronger.

PS: It is very suspecious why thre are not still any Median documents found.

No evidence. Just hypothesis. But the mythic Medes' origin was strongly supported by the Xoybûn for political reasons.

Medes did not let written documents. Perhaps they did not write their language. In the Empire, official documents were written in Akkadian or Aramaic. For that reason linguists could only re-built "Mede languages" with these very complex linguist equations. This summer I received a German work with the "reconstitution" of Mede Language and dictionnary. Hard task, as to reconstruct Indo-Iranian language !

Well as until now no one has founded Medes' inscriptions we could suppose that they did no write their own language. As for European Celtics, of which culture was essentially oral.

But linguists' works are so complex and advanced, that probably one day they will be able to re-discover Medes' language (they have begun) and then to connect it with other Indo-Iranian languages.

BTW, most of neighbours of the medes refered to medes as Kurd; (albeit with archaic form of it i.e. Guti).
