I've also heard that Turks made up stories like Kurds were savages, and we had tails, and we were dirty to create more hate against us.

In the end, it worked and that's what makes it sad :x

According to a famous poem of an Ottoman: Persians were liars, Turks were criminals and Arabs were beggars and thieves. So.. don't mind lol..

The first trace of Kurds is possible found in a Sumerian artefect that comes from 3000 b.c. In this tablets the land of Karda or Kardaka is called. This people lived in the mountains with the identity of the KUr ti-e.

Also the Kurds are called Karduchen/Karduchi's. According to Th. Noldeke the Karduchen lived in the area of Botan. According to Martin hartmann live the Kurds in the north of Medes country and Persia.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Do you friends know about Ferdinand Hennerbichler's (an Austrian researcher) work about origin of the word 'Kurd'? It is the most updated work about etymlogy of this name but unfortunately because it is not in English I cannot read it.
