Kurdish lands are far larger than those on most maps

History - and therefore maps - is always written by the victor

As Kurds were seldom victors - we must assume that much of what is written down throughout history is propaganda and lies - all meant to make the victors and victories appear far greater and the vanquished far weaker than the actual reality

Much of my knowledge comes not from maps - but from Kurds themselves whose knowledge was handed down to them through generations

When they speak of a mountain that for many generations was occupied by Kurds - and which people in the area still refer to as the Kurdish mountain - who are we to dispute such a wealth of local knowledge

From what I have learnt over many years - I firmly believe that Kurds occupied far great portions of Syria - and surrounding Middle Eastern countries - than is usually shown on any maps

I know for a FACT that Kurds occupied much more land in the north of Syria than is shown in most maps - and a great deal more land than that which is covered by those cantons

Those cantons have been set up to further divide the Kurds and many on the ground in Syria realise that as a fact - they cling on to the hope that the cantons will at least give them some security and rights of self government

Personally I think that we should look at the who and why the cantons were set up - and realistically ask ourselves who gains by dividing the Kurds?

Divide and Rule - in politics - sociology and economics - a strategy to gain or maintain power X(
