PostAuthor: K4L_2007 » Wed Mar 28, 2007 1:21 pm

Why isnt it there? Ive always known that kurds existed in these areas but how come they were never on the map at the time of the ottoman empire? :(

I also wonder who it was who made the decision that this was the area of the kurds http://www.shalomjerusalem.com/kurdistan/kurdistan.gif

Ive read that kurds existed in mesopotamia but when were they in turkey?

Thanks for anyone who can give me the info :)

im doing a schoolwork about the kurds

Turkey isn't the Osman Empire. Only Western people used the term "Turkey" and "Turk" in the past. The Osman state didn't define themselves as Turks, Turks were feudal backward peasants for them living in rural regions. Actually it was a bad word, untill the rise of Turkish nationalism.
The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Thankyou for the facts, this helped me a lot :D

But how come the Osman Empire is always associated with turks?

Turks see Osman as one of their ancestor i think

Are there any facts about this :?:

Thanks again

Because their ancestors are Ogzhuz Turks. (Of the Osman sultans).
