DID YOU KNOW THAT WE WERE GONNA HAVE OUR OWN MONEY IN 2003 BECAUSE THEY (DIASPORE KURDS + OTHERS) THOUGHT KURDISTAN WAS GONNA BE INDEPENDENT AFTER SADDAMS FALL???

   uuuuuu - so SHINNY!

Mountains have figured prominently in Kurdish lore, so the reverse of all the coins features four mountain peaks, which also represents the four nations with major Kurdish populations. Above the mountains is a 21-rayed rising sun, which is a traditional Kurdish symbol predating the nations conversion to Islam. The legends are in the two main dialects of Kurdish: Sorani and Kurmanji.

Hey Helîna Kurd :D WELCOME TO OUR (AND YOUR) FORUM ;)

Sorry to say that that money isn't used... it was only printed into some thousand copies - but they thought that they were gonna get them circulated in 2003 - and that Kurdistan would need new money because it would be independent - but nope... We didn't get independence :(

So the money isn't used - YET! ;)

Hey AVA CICEK :D

WELCOME TO KBU! ;)

Yeah - I agree... I wanna fight till the bitter end and build and build and go on through life working for an independent Kurdistan! All we can do as "ordinary" people is to preserve our culture, the tradistions of our great grand mothers and fathers and most importantly - never forget who we are, where we came from and where we wanna be... Our ultimate quest is the forbidden land - Kurdistan!

:)

I am a bit worried about you... You live in Iranian Kurdistan and you don't know how to take advantage of your situation? You can go to a Goldsmith and ask him to copy that coin in GOLD if you like... why aren't you doing that??? Go find a GOOD KURDISH smith and ask him to do it for you ;)

East Kurdistan is the best when it comes to exclusive merchants - Gold, Silk, Honey etc... My dear brother... Yo uaren't enjoying life are you  Go and eat some REAL Kurdish honey... Not like we have here in Europe honey made of SUGAR!

So - DYAOKO - did you fix it allready???

The best Kurdish handcrafts are from what I know of in East Kurdistan - both rugs, gold, copper, instruments etc etc etc...

Not so strange if you think about it - the Eastern Kurds have lived a rural life and have not been denied their culture as much as the others have...
