From to the Great Mustafa Barzani
    to modern day KDP
Mustafa Barzani and his relations have devoted their lives to the Kurdish struggle for freedom

Mustafa Barzani was born on March 14, 1903, in Barzan village, Kurdistan. His early years were marked by hardship, including imprisonment alongside his mother by the Ottoman Empire.

Barzani emerged as a prominent figure, leading revolutions and fighting against British and Iraqi forces in the 1930s and 1940s. He gained recognition as a brave military leader during this period.

During World War II, Barzani capitalized on the chaos to advance the Kurdish cause, ultimately weakening Iraqi control over Kurdish territories in the following decades.

Following the collapse of the Republic of Kurdistan, Barzani and his fighters sought refuge in the Soviet Union for 12 years, where he continued his education and military training.

Returning to Iraq in 1958, Barzani resumed the Kurdish revolution against the Iraqi government's failure to fulfill promises of autonomy and rights.

Despite initial agreements for Kurdish autonomy in 1970, tensions persisted, leading to the Algiers Agreement in 1975, aimed at settling border disputes.

Barzani narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in 1971, orchestrated by Iraqi authorities, showcasing the dangers he faced in his pursuit of Kurdish rights.

In 1975, Barzani's health declined, leading him to seek medical treatment in the United States, where he passed away in 1979. His legacy lives on as a symbol of Kurdish resistance and determination for self-determination.

Without the Barzanis and the KDP, there would be NO Kurdistan

KDP unveils comprehensive four-year plan
    for Kurdistan Region's future
The KDP's platform focuses on 14 distinct messages and programs aimed at enhancing public services and fostering development across the Kurdistan Region

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), represented by List 190, has launched its election campaign for the upcoming Kurdistan Parliament elections with a clear vision and detailed program for the next four years. Unlike other parties and lists, the KDP has presented a transparent and well-defined agenda to the voters.

The KDP's platform focuses on 14 distinct messages and programs aimed at enhancing public services and fostering development across the Kurdistan Region. Key points of their agenda include:

1. Economic and Administrative Reforms:
- Prioritizing the timely payment of public sector salaries.
- Pushing for budget allocation and financial entitlements for the Kurdistan Region.
- Working towards equalizing Kurdistan Region salaries with those in federal Iraq.

2. Anti-Corruption Measures:
- Continuing reforms and implementing laws to combat economic and administrative corruption.
- Ensuring transparency in revenue and expenditure through existing and new legislation.

3. Economic Diversification:
- Reducing dependence on a single sector by diversifying local revenue sources.
- Encouraging both foreign and domestic investment.

4. Administrative Efficiency:
- Reducing bureaucracy and streamlining administrative processes.
- Implementing comprehensive e-governance across all KRG institutions.

5. Balanced Development:
- Ensuring equitable development across cities, towns, and villages in Kurdistan.

6. Youth Employment:
- Creating job opportunities for young graduates.
- Eliminating discrimination in employment based on citizenship principles.

The KDP's program emphasizes continuity in reform processes, including the issuance of necessary laws and regulations to combat economic and administrative corruption and prevent the waste of public resources.

This comprehensive plan demonstrates the KDP's commitment to addressing key issues facing the Kurdistan Region, including economic stability, administrative efficiency, and youth employment.

By presenting a clear roadmap for the next four years, the KDP aims to distinguish itself from other political entities in the upcoming elections.

The party's focus on transparency, economic diversification, and youth empowerment reflects an understanding of the current challenges facing the region and presents a vision for a more prosperous and efficient Kurdistan.

As the election campaign continues, the KDP's detailed platform sets a benchmark for political discourse in the Kurdistan Region, challenging other parties to present equally comprehensive plans for the future of the region.

KDP calls for strong general voting turnoutLooking ahead to Sunday's general election, the KDP High Electoral Committee called on all eligible voters to participate, "We urge the people of Kurdistan to participate extensively in tomorrow's election, Oct. 20, to ensure Kurdistan remains in safe hands."

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) High Electoral Committee has issued a statement celebrating what it describes as a "major victory" for its List 190 in Friday's special voting for the Kurdistan Parliament's sixth term elections.

In the statement released on Saturday, the committee expressed gratitude to security forces and other special voters, particularly highlighting the role of the Peshmerga forces.

"We extend our warmest congratulations on the great success of our party's List 190 in the special voting held on Oct. 18. The significant trust shown by our heroic Peshmerga and special voters is a source of great pride," the statement read
The statement drew a parallel between the Peshmerga's historical role in defending Kurdistan and their participation in the democratic process.

"Just as the Peshmerga defended Kurdistan with their sacred blood in great epics, their overwhelming support for List 190 has once again protected the stronghold of Kurdistan's stability for greater prosperity and resilience," the statement highlighted.

Looking ahead to Sunday's general election, the committee called on all eligible voters to participate, "We urge the people of Kurdistan to participate extensively in tomorrow's election, Oct. 20, to ensure Kurdistan remains in safe hands."

This statement follows reports indicating strong performance by the KDP in the special voting phase, where security forces, including Peshmerga, police, and other security personnel, cast their ballots.

The general election tomorrow will determine the final composition of the Kurdistan Parliament's sixth term, with over 2.6 million eligible voters expected to participate.

The election represents a crucial moment for the Kurdistan Region's democratic process, with 100 parliamentary seats at stake and numerous political parties and independent candidates competing for voters' support.

President Barzani congratulates people of Kurdistan

Labeling it as an “important step” that bolsters democracy in the Kurdistan Region, President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated its people on Monday for the “victorious” ending following the announcement of election results by the electoral commission

Barzani said in a statement that he extended "heartfelt congratulations to the people of Kurdistan and all our communities on their success in the parliamentary elections.”

“These elections and the voting procedures represent significant advancements in securing the democratic journey of the people of Kurdistan," he said.

The Kurdistan Region held parliamentary elections on Sunday. Barzani, who is also deputy leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), oversaw his party win nearly twice as many votes as the runner-up Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), according to near total results reported by Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC).

"The collaborative efforts of all political parties to ensure the effective and seamless execution of this process are commendable and worthy of recognition. Ultimately, the true beneficiaries of this achievement are the people of Kurdistan," he added.

The legislature was downsized to 100 seats from 111 after a landmark Iraqi court ruling stripped the 11 seats reserved for ethnic and religious minorities. The court later reinstated a quota of five seats within the 100.

"The peaceful and orderly elections signify a notable achievement recognized globally,” noted Barzani, saying the people of Kurdistan “eagerly anticipate” a prompt government formation by the political parties “following the ratification of the results.”

The Kurdistan Region last held elections in 2018. After multiple postponements, Barzani in July set the date as October 20.

"A government that promotes stability, strengthens the economy, and advances rights are crucial for addressing current challenges and building our shared future," he added. “This effort requires unity, solidarity, and cooperation among all political factions and communities.”

Foreign missions welcomed the democratic processes

The Delegation of the European Union to Iraq released a statement on Sunday, saying it "welcomes that parliamentary elections took place on 20 October in the Kurdistan Region."

The delegation noted that the elections had been "overdue for more than two years, reason for which the EU had strongly advocated for them to take place," urging all parties to form the new Kurdistan Regional government "in the interest of unity and stability of KRI [The Kurdistan Region of Iraq] and Iraq as a whole."

The US embassy in Iraq congratulated the Kurdistan Region and its political parties on "the successful completion" of the elections.

"Staff from U.S. Mission Iraq observed the electoral process at polling sites across the region on October 18 and 20. We commend the people of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region for their commitment to democracy," Ambassador Alina Romanowski said in a statement.

The UK consulate in Erbil also welcomed the process: "The high turnout is a strong message in support of the renewal of democratic legitimacy."

A total of 1,191 candidates contested for seats in the legislature. The polls had a 72 percent voter turnout, and over two million people across the Region cast their vote, according to IHEC.

KDP :ymparty: PUK :ymsick: share 62 seats in parliament

The Kurdistan Region’s ruling parties will secure over 60 seats in the upcoming regional parliament, Rudaw projects, with the number of votes required to earn a seat lowest in Halabja and highest in Duhok

Out of the 100 seats in the upcoming parliament, the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is expected to secure 39, the highest number of seats, followed by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), with 23 seats.

The ruling parties had a combined 66 seats In the 2018 parliament, in which the KDP had 45 seats and the PUK 21.

The legislature was downsized to 100 seats from 111 after a landmark Iraqi court ruling stripped the 11 seats reserved for ethnic and religious minorities. The court later reinstated a quota of five seats within the 100.

The New Generation Movement (NGM), the Kurdistan Region’s most vocal opposition force comes third with 15 seats. Formed by businessman Shaswar Abdulwahid to contest the 2018 regional elections, NGM has almost doubled its seats. The party won eight seats in the previous Kurdistan parliament term.

The Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU), the leading party in the Islamist camp is expected to secure seven seats and the second prominent Islamist party, the Kurdistan Justice Group (known as Komal), has gained three seats.

The newly-established National Stance (Halwest), led by Ali Hama Saleh, the popular and outspoken former leader of the Change Movement (Gorran) in the parliament comes fifth with four seats. Saleh’s former party Gorran is projected to win one seat only.

Once a major opposition force with 12 seats in the previous parliament term, Gorran lost popularity and fell into obscurity following several unpopular decisions, including alliances with the two ruling parties that alienated its base.

The People’s Front (Baray Gal), a splinter faction from the PUK, is expected to have two seats in the upcoming parliament.

Led by former PUK co-chair Lahur Talabany, Baray Gal was founded in January after Talabany gave up on his repeated futile legal attempts to regain his position as PUK co-chair.

Bafel Talabani has NO legal right to be in sole control of the PUK, he is a TRAITOR who by giving Kurdish land to Iraq destroyed the hopes of all Kurds who fought and died for an Independent Kurdistan.

A TRAITOR to those who voted for Lahur as joint leader when he instigated an ILLEGAL COUP against Lahur and other legally elected officials.

Bafel Talabani should have been arrested and imprisoned 7 years ago as a TRAITOR

Bafel Talabani should have been arrested and imprisoned for instigating an illegal coup against legally elected members of the PUK

As it appears Bafel Talabani instigated the intimidation of voters hopefully he will be arrested SOON

The Kurdistan Region Alliance (KRA), led by veteran Peshmerga Mohammed Haji Mahmoud, consists of the Kurdistan Social Democratic Party (KSDP), the Kurdistan Communist Party, and the Kurdistan Toilers’ Party. It fielded 84 candidates across all four provinces and is expected to secure one seat.

Rudaw’s projection is calculated based on the total number of valid votes divided by the number of allocated seats in each constituency, with the highest value in Duhok at 22,448 votes per seat, Erbil at 20,309 per seat, Sulaimani, at 16,978 votes, and the lowest in Halabja at 12,978 per seat.

The Kurdistan Region held parliamentary elections on Sunday, with a total of 1,191 candidates contesting for seats in the legislature. The polls had a 72 percent voter turnout, and over two million people across the Region cast their vote, according to preliminary results released by Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC).

On Monday, IHEC announced the number of votes won by each party with 99.63 percent of the ballots counted.

The KDP amassed 809,197 votes, nearly double the votes of the PUK 408,141. The NGM rose to become the third-largest party in the Region with 290,991 votes. KIU won 116,981 votes, Komal 64,710. Halwest secured 55,775 and Baray Gal, 33,365, Gorran won 11,621 votes and the Kurdistan Region Alliance gained 13,199 votes across the region.

KDP Affirms Openness to All Parties in New Government

The ruling Kurdish party, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), has stated that the parliamentary elections were held in a democratic manner, and the weight of each party will be reflected in the formation of the next government

The party also emphasised that it has no vetoes against any parties participating in the new cabinet.

Ali Hussein, head of the KDP’s organising bureau in Sulaymaniyah and Halabja, told a press conference on Wednesday that the KDP had increased its votes across the Kurdistan Region and secured a seat in Halabja province.

Hussein acknowledged that the KDP’s victory is a victory for the entire people of the Kurdistan Region.

He further noted that the Kurdistan parliamentary elections were conducted democratically, with each party’s strength reflected in the results. The KDP secured over 800,000 votes, winning 39 seats in the next parliament, which consists of 95 general seats and five seats allocated to the region’s minorities.

Hussein also stressed that the KDP has no veto against any political party willing to implement the agenda of the next government. He emphasized that the new government should serve the people, and the party should no longer replace the government in running the region’s affairs.

According to the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), 2,686,578 voters were eligible to participate in the Kurdistan Region’s sixth parliamentary elections on Sunday, October 20.

The voter turnout was 72%. The highest turnout was recorded in Duhok at 78%, followed by Erbil at 74%, Sulaymaniyah at 65%, and Halabja at 69%.

The Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections, held on Oct. 20, saw 2,087,972 eligible voters from across four constituencies—Erbil, Duhok, Sulaimani, and Halabja—participate in the democratic process. The high voter turnout demonstrated the strong engagement of the people in shaping the future of the Kurdistan Region.

On Oct. 21, the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) released preliminary results of the sixth round of the parliamentary elections. IHEC Chairman Omar Ahmed Mohammed, during a press briefing, emphasized the smooth and well-organized process, crediting extensive preparations for its success.

“The elections proceeded very well due to the thorough preparations that were made to ensure the success of the process,” Mohammed stated. He also revealed that over 2 million voters participated in the election, marking an impressive voter turnout of 72%. Of the total vote count, 99.63% of the results were announced on Oct. 22, with the remaining portion delayed due to minor technical issues.

In total, 2,899,578 people were eligible to vote, with 2,087,972 citizens casting their ballots. The region’s 7,070 polling stations facilitated the voting process, accommodating both general and special voting categories.

We Must Protect the Achievements of Kurdistan
By Aryan Tahsin

When we landed at Warsaw Airport and passed through passport control, we noticed that the staff treated guests with great respect, especially families with small children

This year, my family and I had the opportunity to travel to Poland. Our journey began at Erbil International Airport, then continued through Antalya Airport before arriving at Warsaw Airport. While waiting at Antalya Airport, we met several Polish families.

During this first encounter, I observed that the country we were heading to has a well-educated and intellectual generation. Most of the children in the terminal were reading books, and it was clear that Polish fathers encourage their children to read rather than rely on mobile phones for entertainment. Health experts agree that this is a healthy educational approach for children and young people in any society.

When we landed at Warsaw Airport and passed through passport control, we noticed that the staff treated guests with great respect, especially families with small children.

On our first day in Warsaw, we realized that the city is environmentally friendly. The towering trees and the cleanliness of the streets made the city even more beautiful.

The people of Warsaw, and indeed other Polish cities, are hospitable. When we took a taxi to visit a tourist destination, the driver asked us where we were from. When we said, "Iraqi Kurdistan," he responded with a wealth of knowledge about our region, saying, “We have a shared history.” His words showed me that the people of Poland are not only well-versed in their own country’s history but have also learned about other nations that, like Poland, have faced oppression.

Warsaw is developing in every aspect, day by day. According to international tourism surveys, Poland is now considered one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Millions of tourists from around the globe visit the country each year
Poles have not forgotten their history; they are deeply proud of their past and have preserved their culture. Poland is home to numerous museums and historical sites, including:

    - The Polish Army Museum

    - Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory

    - Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau
Though Polish universities are currently ranked among the best globally, there was a time when many Poles had to go abroad for education. Today, those who studied abroad have returned with advanced degrees and are contributing significantly to the development of their country.

Traveling to Poland and learning about its history and current progress, one can understand that with love and dedication, no obstacle is too great for a country's advancement. Warsaw in the 1940s is a stark contrast to the prosperous, modern city it is today. This transformation shows that with love for your country, you can improve and beautify it.

Although the Kurdish population in Poland is small compared to other European countries, the ties between Poles and Kurds are strong. High-level Polish officials have visited the Kurdistan Region several times. In the 1970s and 1980s, a number of Kurdish citizens moved to Poland.

Today, many of these Kurds have become prominent figures in the country, contributing to its economy and culture. Some of them have made significant investments in Poland, participating in the beautification and revitalization of cities. Notably, some of Poland’s major annual art festivals are sponsored by Kurdish investors. One of these investors is Ziad Rauf, the current representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Poland.

We must all strengthen our attachment to our homeland and defend our values and freedoms, just as the people of Poland have done for their country. We should take pride in our Peshmerga, our nation, and our achievements. Especially in the current situation in Kurdistan, with His Excellency Masrour Barzani as the Prime Minister.

We must support our government, protect its achievements, implement its recommendations, and follow the guidance of our Prime Minister to ensure peace and prosperity continue to prevail.
