Happy Birthday Kirk and congratulation.

By coincidence, this afternoon I was watching one of his cowboy films, 'A man without star'. I think his last film was with Gregory Peck. Both were very old, did a cowboy thing, and then drove a train to Mexico to run from the law. Gregory passed away on 12 June 2003.

Kirk Douglas celebrated his milestone birthday with a bash at The Beverly Hills Hotel in LA, California

He was joined at the party by his wife Anne Buydens Douglas, 97, and 150 friends and family

The Lust for Life star looked over the moon when his son Michael and Catherine each flanked him and planted some big smooches on either side of his head

'At the point in his life where he's faced adversity, losing a son, having a helicopter crash, having a stroke, and what he's accomplished in this third act in his life, I find quite extraordinary,' son Michael told the guests

A glass of vodka, cake with his bust and 150 friends and family helped Kirk Douglas celebrate his 100th birthday.

Kirk's son Michael Douglas, 72, and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 47, wanted to ensure that Kirk's was one for the ages when they joined him for a bash at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Friday evening.

OK his wife is 97. She will reach 100 too. what a coincidence.

I wonder what is their diet. He is probably not vegan nor an adept of gluten-free as his son and all other hispter urban diets because in that case we would have read things like "proof that only eating fruits is good… etc"

It would be funny if Kirk Douglas just eat meat and cheese until his 100 years

It is lovely to know that Kirk has a wife the same age as himself

So many so-called stars marry females much younger - Kirk has been married for more than 60 years

I gather Kirk had a hard life as a child so he would have eaten almost anything he could when he was young - he might have cut down on meat as he became older

He will have had the best medical care available
