no vladimir you are wrong, bahman is iranian Kurd ! where did you hear he said that ?

thats lie he never said he is iraqi...

he said,
they didnt allow me to say this movie is made by Iraqi Kurdistan govenrment.
so I said this movie was made by both Iran and Iraq governemnts

he said
just me (driector) and the Camera Man were Iranian. everybody else was iraqi kurd but we have to name it a movie by iran-iraq gov

whatever....
Bahman ghobadi is so so so much better than hiner saleem.
mind that in iran ,you have to make your movies by iran law, and under iran secureity agents watch, and also you have to make movies by islam law.
means you cant show a woman witohut Hejab in the movie...
you cant even show a brother kisses or touches his sister in the movies...

you can see in the turtle can fly movie ,,,bahmadn showed many Love scences witohut any "Skin TOUCH" ! (have you even mentioned that?)

Bahmand Ghobadi was the first kurd movie maker , who made kurdish cinema international...
while iraqi kurd director had a little freedom , they didnt do anything

but bahman did his jobs in IRAN ! bahman said "I will make kurdistan Country in the Cinema Map...soon there will something called Cinema of Kurdisatn....and will be recongized by World's Art Map"

Saleeem has too much to be like Bahman.
Bahmand got the "San Sebastian" Award the biggest art award of Spain.
Bahmadn makes his works while he has many Red Lines and Limitiations...

Bahman Gobadi i think has an edge over Hiner Saleem. But to tell the truth I have yet to see kilometre zero. So I cant make a educated decision just yet, but im sure, bahman has the edge, his movies are very inspiring.

Pesh can I ask you...

Why do you say "Silav" when acttually meaning "goodbye"... or "see ya"...

Silva means "Hello!" "Hi"... It's a bit wrong to say it when upon leaving...

Why would you want to even compare the two?

Hi everyone. I stumbled on this site actually by looking for info on Hiner Saleem. I think it's great to debate on which directors work you prefer but to say something negative about either one is absurd. I can hardly believe that the day is here where we can discuss the works of not one but two great Kurdish film makers. Their styles are very different but these two gentleman have given the rest of us Kurds the belief that we to can one day step outside the typical jobs that we are brought up and encouraged to do. I hope this inspires more Kurdish artists to step forward and have the belief that they too can get their works seen or published. Another Kurdish film maker making some noise is a man based out of New York City named Jalal Jonroy. You should support his film if it comes to your area. The name of the movie is David and Layla.
Thanks
kurdo

I KNOW! Welcome Kurdo! Enjoy the Forum!

Jonroy's movie is a Kurdish epic - about Leyla who is an ex-gêrîla and she meets and falls in love with this man - called David - he is Jewish! And THIS IS A TRUE STORY! :D

I REALLY HOPE IT COMES TO NORWAY!

Thank you for the welcome

Dyaoko - Don't you remember the review of the film I posted at KBU NEWS? :) I even put up the posters for the film... Both of them!

Well - anyway - I am VERY excieted about this film - because this is the FIRST "Hollywood style" ( and I say "Hollywood style" because it is the first film about Kurds produced in the US, under US standards)... Anybody in the US seen it??? And what about video? Maybe I can buy it at amazon... :D
