Nazis stage videos to frame Russia

Ukraine's neo-Nazis are receiving orders from Kiev to stage videos killing civilians and looting to try to demonize the Russian servicemen and further propagate Russophobia

The authorities in Kiev have ordered nationalist battalions to film and direct staged videos about looting and mass murder to accuse the Russian armed forces of being behind these crimes, Russian National Defense Control Center head Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev said Tuesday.

"According to the testimonies of surrendered Ukrainian servicemen, nationalist battalions systematically receive orders from Kiev authorities to prepare staged videos about atrocities, mass murder of civilians, looting, and destruction of social infrastructure," Mizintsev said, explaining that the goal of these videos was to spread propaganda against Russian servicemen.

Mizintsev highlighted the particular cynicism of this situation, underlining that for the nationalists to carry out such orders and make such videos, they spare the life of no woman, senior, or child.

"The goal of such materials is to create a negative informational background around the special military operation carried out by the Russian Armed Forces," he added.

Another rebuttal of the nationalist attempts at demonizing the Russian servicemen was Mizintsev underscoring that the majority of civilians are seeking to evacuate to Russia, with Russian military structures receiving 1,734 requests for evacuation to the federation.

"Overall, there are a total of 2,732,405 requests from 2,118 settlements of Ukraine," he revealed.

Russia's special military operation in Ukraine was launched due to NATO's eastward expansion, Kiev's shelling of Donbass, and the killing of the people of the Donetsk People's Republic and Lugansk People's Republic, in addition to Moscow wanting to "denazify" and demilitarize Ukraine.

Russia's operation was faced with a fierce campaign of sanctions, including restrictions on the Russian central bank, export control measures, SWIFT cutoff for select banks, and closure of airspace to all Russian flights. Many of their companies have suspended their Russian operations.

The sanctions were accompanied by a campaign that aimed to demonize Russia, sparking Russophobia in the West, with Meta Inc. allowing calls for violence against Russians, and the neo-Nazis' bid to further demonize Moscow would have only served that campaign.

On Tuesday, the Russia's Defense Ministry announced that Russia has decided to significantly reduce military activity in the Kiev and Chernihiv directions.

Russia and Ukraine held the fourth face-to-face negotiations in Turkey on Tuesday. Although both sides clinched some progress in exploring possible ways out of the current situation, their armed conflict continues.

Hunter Biden: US-funded bio-weapons

The Russian MoD has released scandalous documents exposing US-funded projects and plans to create and concentrate deadly pathogens and diseases while inventing devices and vehicles to spread them

The Russian Defense Ministry has exacerbated an already flared scandal of Hunter Biden's connection and correspondence with employees of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and Pentagon contractors in Ukraine. This comes after Putin had already demanded Washington expose its biological activities in Ukraine, which have been threatening Russia and Europe inclusively.

Hunter played a significant role in paving the way for a financial opportunity for a pathogen to work in Ukraine, raising funds for Black & Veatch and Metabiota, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

The Vice President of Metabiota, in one of the letters, said that his company's work will aim to ensure the "cultural and economic independence of Ukraine from Russia," according to the MoD.

Part of Russia's war on Ukraine was the cessation of activities in 5 biological laboratories in Kiev, which have been collaborating with imperial arms of the US government, including USAID, US Department of Defense, US Department of State, US Democratic party, US Defense Threat Reduction Agency, and more to create biological weapons.

Investors in the biological facilities in Ukraine are Hunter Biden, Rosemont Seneca, and Goerge Soros and his Open Society Foundations.

The Pentagon, the headquarters for the United States Defense Department, issued contracts with a number of labs, such as Metabiota, Black & Veatch, and CH2M Hill.

As per the documents, US specialists were making drones that can carry poisonous radioactive and narcotic substances.

One letter exposed a correspondence between Cooperative Threat Reduction Programme (CTRP) Director Robert Pope and the Ukrainian Health Minister, Ulyana Suprun. The letter, sent by Pope, praises the cooperation between the US government and the Ukrainian leadership and names a number of steps that need to be taken to achieve certain "objectives".

One of the steps toward objective achievement was to analyze the survivability of substances of very high concern (SVHC). What accounts for an SVHC is a chemical compound that is carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic for reproduction and are potential endocrine disruptors, which can harm hormonal development, the nervous system, the reproductive system, and other vital biological processes.

The second was to strengthen and consolidate the SVHC, concentrating the biological weapon into one depository in Ukraine.

The third was the isolation and destruction of the SVHC - except where preservation of its organisms is in line with "global best practice."

In another instance, a leaked correspondence between the Turkish defense company, Baykar, and Motor-Sich, an aircraft manufacturer in Ukraine, exposes Ukraine's questions directed to the company, asking them whether their UAVs can "spray aerosols with a capacity of more than 20 liters" to which Baykar answered, "No".

Another question that struck as alarming is whether the UAV can travel more than 300 km, which may pose a threat to Russian security as the vehicle, which is intended to spray aerosol, can travel for use in Russian territory.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that such questions could prove that Kiev was developing delivery vehicles for biological weapons with the possibility of using them against Russia.

Another document revealed the US issuing of a patent for a drone that releases biological weapons, clearly stating the intention to use drug-infested insects to spray "enemy troops". The sentence clearly goes by,

"...By using a drone to spread infested insects, enemy troops can be eliminated or disabled without risk to our troops."

The most prominent patent, which was issued in 2015, was for a Toxic Mosquito Aerial Release System (TMARS). It is an unmanned aerial vehicle operated by remote control, made for biological warfare. In the document, under the title of "Advantageous Effects of Invention," a paragraph follows:

With the Toxic Mosquito Aerial Release System, large masses of people can be immunized or enemy troops can now be wiped out or rendered useless without having to risk or endager our own troops. The Toxic Mosquito Aerial Release System is extremely low cost and can easily accomplish what a billion dollars in medical interventions and airstrikes cannot do.

The mosquitos in the Toxic Mosquito Aerial Release System can be contaminated with various types of genetically altered bacteria to activate the immune system, or contaminated with toxic sickness agents depending on the objectives. For military purposes, the mosquitos may be used to deliver an agent such as malaria to create sickness, or they could use much more toxic or highly contagious agents and viruses. A highly contagious virus could wipe out 100% of the enemy troops because the ones that did not get bitten will be contaminated by their fellow soldiers

The patenting took issue in the United States, with documents clearly explaining biological use to kill or disable troops

The Russian Defense Ministry has also exposed the names behind the DTRA, Black & Veatch, and Metabiota.

The documents revealed a number of projects the DTRA has monitored and implemented, including the UP-2 project, "Mapping of highly infectious diseases in Ukraine," the UP-4 Project, "Risk assessment of particularly dangerous pathogens transmitted by birds in Ukraine during migration," and the UP-8 Project, "The spread of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus and hantaviruses in Ukraine and the potential need for differential diagnosis of patients with suspected leptospirosis."

The three personalities mentioned in the DTRA document are Dr. Robert Pope, former DTRA Director, Dr. Rhys M. Williams, the in-office DTRA Director, and Joanna Wintrol, who was the Head of the DTRA and all DTRA projects in Ukraine until 2021.

Black & Veatch, which has received enormous amounts of funding from Rosemont Seneca, Biden's investment fund, has partnered with the DTRA on biological weapon projects, including UP-1, UP-2, and UP-8.

The three executives working for B&V in Ukraine are Steven Edwards, the CEO, Lance Lippencott, the project manager and implementer, and David Mustra, the biosafety recruitment manager in Ukraine, among other things.

The document also exposes a report by the internal security department in Kherson, Ukraine, which writes, "... a potential threat to the epidemiological and epizootic situation in our country has recently come to light as a result of DTRA's intentions through Black & Veatch to establish control over the functioning of Ukrainian microbiological laboratories that conduct research into particularly dangerous pathogens that can be used to create or upgrade new types of biological weapons."

In 2011, the Ukrainian Scientific Technical Center and Black & Veatch received an official recommendation from the US Department of State in 2011 to cooperate on biological research for the DTRA

In a reply letter from the Vice President of B&V, the company said it has been working toward the interests and demands of the DTRA in Ukraine since 2008 and that there are numerous projects to be planned and implemented in the near future, namely UP-1, UP-2, and UP-3. The Russian Ministry of Defense has also published documents for UP-1 and UP-2, displaying the contract and funding.

Other than exposing documents backing the UP-4 project, the document exposed Mary Guttieri, who is the executive vice president of Metabiota, who worked along with Nita Madhav, the CEO, and Scott Thornton, senior microbiologist and laboratory start-up coordinator.

In an April 2014 memo to Hunter Biden, Mary Guttieri discussed "how we can potentially leverage our team, networks, and concepts to assert Ukraine's cultural and economic independence from Russia and continued integration into Western society."

Another memo revealed that Biden had pitched a "science project" involving Metabiota and Burisma, the Ukrainian natural gas company where Biden was a board member and earned millions of dollars.

In 2014, the US awarded Metabiota $23.9 million, with $307,091 allocated for "Ukrainian research projects," according to government spending records

The UP-8 project took place in Lvov, Kharkov, Odessa, and Kiev.

4,000 Ukrainian soldiers donated their blood samples for hantavirus antibodies, and 400 soldiers donated their blood samples for antibodies to the Crimean-Congo fever virus. This type of screening could be used to identify biological agents that are most toxic for this region in particular.

The Russian Defense Ministry highlighted that human biosamples and dangerous pathogens and their carriers were transported from Ukraine to the Lugar Center in Georgia, laboratories in Britain, and the Loeffler Institute in Germany.

In the same context, Russia's MoD released original documents about the UP-2 Pentagon project, which aimed to carry out molecular analysis of dangerous infections endemic to Ukraine.

The UP-2 project involved sampling the pathogen from old animal burial grounds to obtain new anthrax strains.

US funding for military biological work in Ukraine was $32 million

According to the Chief of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, Igor Kirillov, the entire amount of US support for military biological work carried out at Ukrainian Ministry of Defense facilities was $32 million.

The official presented a document dated March 6, 2015, confirming the Pentagon's direct participation in the financing of military biological projects in Ukraine, stating that, as is customary, US projects in the field of sanitary and epidemiological well-being in third countries, including Africa and Asia, are funded through national health authorities.

New Evidence against Hunter Biden

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported to be in possession of the correspondence of Hunter Biden, son of the American president, which confirms his important financial link with the biolaboratories for military use in Ukraine

The head of the radiological, chemical and biological defense forces of Russia, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, said the documents show his relationship with employees of the U.S. Department of Defense Threat Reduction Agency and Pentagon contractors in Ukraine.

Kirillov told reporters that the content proves that Hunter Biden contributed to creating a financial opportunity to carry out work with pathogens in Ukraine by ensuring the attraction of funds for Black & Veatch and Metabiota.

On Thursday, the Russian State Duma commission in charge of probing the activities of biological laboratories in Ukraine announced that it is considering inviting U.S. Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland and the son of the U.S. President, Hunter Biden, to testify.

Earlier, State Duma (Lower House) Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin demanded an explanation from U.S. President Joe Biden about his son’s links to Ukrainian biolaboratory military experiments.

The politician wrote on Telegram that it is not just any person involved in the creation of biolabs in Ukraine, but the very President of the United States.

He stressed that the investment fund run by Biden's son is one of the financiers of research and implementation of the U.S. military-biological program in that country. Obviously, Joe Biden, both as a father, and as a head of State, knew about these activities, Volodin said.

Nuland, for her part, speaking at a hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations on March 9, admitted there are facilities in Ukraine where research in the field of biology is being conducted, and Washington is trying to prevent them from falling under the control of Russian forces

Republican lawmakers have launched an investigation against Twitter and Facebook regarding censoring the dissemination of media publications on Hunter Biden.

The Congressmen decided to launch the investigation, with Republicans on the House Oversight Committee sending letters to the White House and the National Archives on Tuesday asking for records related to Hunter Biden's communications with the White House during the Obama Administration.

Before the 2020 elections, the New York Post published a story based on confidential correspondence they obtained that belongs to Hunter Biden, which was allegedly obtained from his laptop.

The messages indicate that he sought to use his father's position as president to advance his own business interests. Joe Biden, who was still presidential candidate at the time, claimed that Russia was behind the dissemination of this information.

The New York Times also published another article in March saying that some correspondence has been found by federal investigators to be genuine.

The US forced the Europeans to impose sanctions against Russia, while they themselves not only continue to import oil from Russia but also increased the volume of supplies of the black gold by 43 percent over the past week

Last month (March) one media outlet after another ran stories claiming that the far right’s Azov Battalion was a benign force attached to the Ukrainian army, somersaulting over their own reporting during the previous decade when they clearly identified the unit’s Nazi sympathies and ethos

Now the Western press in their unified riposte to President Vladimir Putin’s accusation that the country is infiltrated by Nazis, ask how can this be? President Zelensky, they say, is Jewish. Doesn’t that prove that Nazi influence is minimal?

The BBC’s Ros Atkins, an influential presenter on a major news program, talked for 10 minutes on March 27, last month, about the situation in Ukraine. “No far-right groups have any formal political power.” The fact is they have a lot of informal power, way beyond what their numbers suggest. As the Financial Times reported two days later, Azov is “the key to the nationwide resistance effort”.

The same day, CNN on March 29 ran a story, saying, “Azov has a history of neo-Nazi leanings, which have not been entirely extinguished by its integration into the Ukrainian military”. CNN said that the government gives them near immunity despite their freelance violent actions.

Because of the war Western media have moved a long way from their stance taken last year. Time magazine described them then as a militia that had “trained and inspired white supremacists from around the world.”

“Azov is much more than a militia”, Time continued, “It has its own political party; two publishing houses, summer camps for children, and a vigilante force known as the National Militia, which patrols the streets of Ukrainian cities alongside the police. It also has a military wing with at least two training bases and a vast arsenal of weapons, from drones and armoured vehicles to artillery pieces”. Most of this armoury comes from Western nations.

In June 2015, both Canada and the United States announced that their own forces would not support or train the Azov regiment, citing its neo-Nazi connections.

A 2016 report by the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights accused the Azov regiment of violating international humanitarian law.

The report detailed incidents over a period from November 2015-February 2016 where Azov had embedded their weapons and forces in inhabited buildings, and displaced residents after looting their properties.

The report also accused the battalion of raping and torturing detainees in the Donbas region. It has also attacked Roma communities and LGBTQ members

Last year (2021) Time talked to “the head of Azov’s international outreach”, Olena Semenyaka, who said that Azov wanted to “form a coalition of far-right groups across the Western world, with the ultimate aim of taking power throughout Europe”.[/list]

US Jeopardizes World Stability

As the Ukrainian conflict grinds on, picturing Washington's role in the chaos is less challenging than predicting an endgame of the crisis. Since late February, the United States has continued to add fuel to the fire by delivering lethal weapons to Ukraine, goading allies into cornering Russia, and imposing massive economic sanctions on Russian institutions and enterprises. All these moves run counter to global efforts to de-escalate the crisis and put world stability in peril

ANOTHER ROUND OF SANCTIONS

On Wednesday, the United States imposed additional sanctions on Russia, targeting its major financial institutions and the two daughters of President Vladimir Putin. The United States will impose full blocking sanctions on Russia's largest financial institution, Sberbank, and the country's largest private bank, Alfa Bank, freezing any of the two banks' assets in the U.S. financial system and prohibiting Americans from doing business with them.

U.S. President Joe Biden will sign an executive order banning new investment in Russia by Americans no matter where they live, the factsheet said, adding the executive order aims to "ensure the enduring weakening of the Russian Federation's global competitiveness."

Since the conflict broke out in Ukraine, the United States has imposed rounds of sanctions on Russia, despite experts' warning that sanctions alone are inadequate to de-escalate the tensions and might even invite a nightmare scenario.

"For the U.S. allies in Europe, the sanctions punish them as much as predictable skyrocketing energy prices bedevil their economies now, and threaten even the very survival of the European economy," said Herman Tiu Laurel, founder of Philippine BRICS Strategic Studies

"We should fully understand the causes and consequences of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Will the sanctions against Russia solve the problem? Will the sanctions force Russia to withdraw their troops? The answers unfortunately are No. The sanctions will only deteriorate the world economy already weakened by the COVID-19 pandemic," Wichai Kinchong Choi, senior vice president of the leading Thai bank Kasikornbank, said.

U.S. ROLE IN CRISIS

The root cause of the outbreak of the conflict is the continuous eastward expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Putin had repeatedly warned NATO against deploying its troops and weapons to Ukraine, saying this represents a red line for Russia

Russia's concern that NATO is expanding to its borders has never been heeded by the United States, "which is only interested in maintaining its hegemonic status in Europe, and which has been steadily retreating from that collaborative policy which the West committed itself to after the Cold War," said William Jones, Washington bureau chief of the U.S. publication Executive Intelligence Review.

In the past several weeks, U.S. politicians have flown back and forth across the Atlantic to instigate hostilities against Russia, while showing little interest in acknowledging the root cause of or brokering a political solution to the tragedy in Ukraine.

Immediately after the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out, Biden announced that the United States would provide US$350 million in military aid to Ukraine. On March 16, Biden announced an additional US$800 million in security assistance to Ukraine.

On Wednesday, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said that his country has already sent 100 killer drones called Switchblade to Ukraine. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken also said that the U.S. and its allies have provided Ukraine with 10 anti-tank systems for every single Russian tank.

John Pang, a senior fellow at New York-based Bard College, said U.S. sanctions "worsen the situation," adding that "they possibly prolong the conflict because of suffering in Russia, but also in Europe and around the world. They will bring the global economy into, very likely, a recession in which millions of innocent people will suffer."

"If you put this together with the fact that... NATO and the U.S. continue to arm Ukraine, the actual effect will be to prolong the conflict, not to end it," he pointed out.

WORLD STABILITY IN DANGER

The United States has sowed discord between Russia and European countries, and driven Russia and Ukraine into a corner of confrontation, causing geopolitical tensions and economic shocks that jeopardize world stability.

The country, unconfident and insecure, still wants to maintain hegemony in the international system or a dominant position in the global economy, thus attempting to suppress countries that it thinks could threaten and challenge it, said Zhao Suisheng, a professor at Josef Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver.

The current disruptions in energy, metals and food markets caused by the month-long conflict in Ukraine are "broad and savage," The Economist magazine reported in mid-March, warning that a retreat to Cold-War spheres of influence or self-sufficiency would be "a mistake" and the costs would be vast.

"We're approaching the most dangerous point in human history... We are now facing the prospect of destruction of organised human life on Earth. What we do know is that Ukraine will be further devastated. And we may move on to terminal nuclear war if we do not pursue the opportunities that exist for a negotiated settlement," Noam Chomsky said.

"Virtually any additional steps -- reducing imports of oil and gas, banning a wider range of exports, or telling European firms to withdraw from Russia -- would entail an economic cost for Europe," Jean Pisani-Ferry, a senior fellow at Brussels-based economic think tank Bruegel, said in an article published by Project Syndicate in late March.

NYT confirms footage of Ukraine

The New York Times validates footage showing Ukrainian soldiers killing Russian servicemen near Kiev, and the act itself is a war crime as it is the killing of prisoners of war

A video showing Ukrainian soldiers executing injured and captured Russian soldiers has been confirmed by the New York Times.

The video in question is one showing Ukrainian soldiers opening fire against a Russian serviceman lying - seemingly lifeless - on the pavement.

"A video posted online on Monday and verified by The New York Times appears to show a group of Ukrainian soldiers killing captured Russian troops outside a village west of Kyiv," NYT said.

Several bodies could be seen near the Russian soldier's, showing no signs of life and presumably killed at the hands of Ukrainians.

The New York Times reported that the video was filmed on March 30, as the Russian forces were withdrawing from the Ukrainian capital.

Who's committing war crimes?

The bodies nearby looked like they had been killed after they were imprisoned by Ukrainians. One of the soldiers had a head wound that could be clearly seen, and his hands were tied behind his back as he was lying face down on the pavement.

There were bloodstains near each soldiers' head, and if it is what it seems to be - the killing of prisoners of war - then this constitutes yet another flagrant war crime committed by the Kiev regime's forces.

They appeared to have had their jackets, shoes, or helmets removed, but they were wearing camouflage and the white armband usually worn by Russian soldiers.

The soldier that the Ukrainians were shown to be shooting in the footage had a jacket pulled over his head and was visibly wounded, with blood near and around him. It seemed like the soldier was gasping for air, shivering as he was likely bleeding out.

There were four men in total, but the amount of blood on the scene makes it seem like there were at least double that were killed in the area.

The video has been reportedly filmed just north of the village of Dmytrivka, and just down the road, the footage showed destroyed or heavily damaged Russian equipment, and it is suspected that the war crime took place following a Ukrainian ambush on a Russian column on or around March 30.

Despite attempts from Kiev to dodge the blame, the NYT confirmed that the soldiers are Ukrainian, as the Ukrainian Defense Ministry had announced the destruction of the Russian convoy by its forces.

"Not even human"

The deep-rooted hate goes beyond just the killing of the soldiers, as one Ukrainian, while walking between the corpses, said, "These are not even humans." The Ukrainians dehumanizing their rivals while the Russians feed and provide theirs with their basic necessities upon capture reflects the creeds of both parties.

At the beginning of the war, the Russian forces had captured an Island in the Black sea, and Kiev claimed that Moscow's soldiers killed all the Ukrainian soldiers on the Island. However, the border guards laid down their arms voluntarily and were taken in by the Russians, provided with food, medical attention for those who needed it, and other basic necessities.

16 ships of the Ukrainian navy used "swarm tactics" to attack the Russian Black Sea Fleet vessels during the evacuation of 82 Ukrainian border guards that had voluntarily laid down their arms on Zmiinyi Island, Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov said following the evacuations.

"The goal of this attack was mainly the revenge on Ukrainian soldiers who had laid down their arms, as well as the pretext to accuse the Russian army of killing prisoners," he clarified at the time.

Ukraine, despite its numerous acts of aggression, is constantly shifting the blame on Russia with no tangible proof, even in major tragedies such as the Bucha one.

Russia's Ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov, had said that with regards to the shelling of Bucha, Ukraine's authorities were shifting the blame, as the civilian casualties may have occurred as a result of an attack by Ukrainian forces.

The US is being deliberately silent on the fact that the shelling of the city happened at the hands of Ukrainian forces after the pullout of Russia's forces from the city, he added

Ukraine published footage it claimed showed evidence of crimes committed by the Russian armed forces in Bucha, a town in Kiev, and the Russian Ministry of Defense said they were yet another provocation.

Russia has been pushing for the UN Security Council to meet on the Bucha crime it is attributing to Ukraine, and the UK moved to block Moscow from taking the stand against Kiev.

Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy revealed that the allegations were false, and he reminded the United Nations that Moscow had warned that the hospital the allegations were surrounding had become a military site at the hands of radicals.

World Grain Prices to Hit Record Levels

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), announced the exponential increase in food prices in international markets

The FAO food price index stood at 159.3 points in March, 12.6 percent higher than in February, which represents "a giant leap" to a new maximum peak in the historical series of prices since 1990.
On March 11, the FAO issued a report forecasting "significant repercussions for global food security" from disruptions to the agricultural supply chain in Ukraine and Russia, two countries that are among the world's largest grain exporters.

Currently, Russia is the world's largest wheat exporter and Ukraine the fifth one. Russia and the Ukraine provide 19 percent of the barley, 14 percent of the wheat, and 4 percent of the maize available on the world market.

The fallout of Ukraine's crisis on other regions is alarming. In the Middle East region alone:

- Lebanon wheat flour prices up 47%
- Libya wheat flour prices up 15%
- Palestine wheat flour prices up 14%
- Yemen cooking oil prices up 36%
- Syria cooking oil prices up 39%

Russia and Ukraine also provide a third of world grain exports and sell 52 percent of sunflower oil. For this reason, the conflict has impacted the international prices of:

- vegetable oils
- meat
- cereals
- sugar
- dairy products.

In March, the cereal price index stood at an average of 170.1 points, 17.1 percent higher than in February. The probable loss of exports in the Black Sea region aggravated the "already low world availability of wheat", which is also affected by the "worrying" situation of U.S. crops.

The Ukrainian conflict has also affected the FAO meat price index, which increased by 4.8 percent in March. The value of pork rose due to the scarcity of slaughter in Western Europe and the increase in demand before the upcoming Easter holidays.

International Aid Agencies Urge for Action to Avert Famine in Somalia

On Wednesday, over 60 aid agencies appealed to the international community to work to avert a possible famine in Somalia in 2022 due to worsening drought conditions.

"We request you to urge donors and the Member States to commit additional resources to enable immediate scale-up of humanitarian response in Somalia to avert a possible famine and save lives," the agencies said, warning that over 1.4 million children, nearly half of the country's under-five population, are likely to suffer from acute malnutrition with 329,500 of them likely to be severely malnourished.

China Slams US for Prisoner Abuse at 'Black Sites'

On Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian lashed out at the United States for prisoner abuse at "black sites," calling its "enhanced interrogation techniques" brutal and horrifying

The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has set up these black sites in many countries under the pretext of its "War on Terror." Alleged terrorists are secretly placed in arbitrary detention and confessions are extorted by torture.

The Guardian reported that, according to a newly declassified report, a detainee at a secret CIA detention site in Afghanistan was used as a living prop to teach trainee interrogators, who lined up to take turns at knocking his head against a plywood wall and dousing him with ice-cold water. The torture has left him devastated both physically and mentally.

"Guantanamo Bay, the Bagram prison in Afghanistan and the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq are caught up in prisoner abuse scandals, with the use of brutal and horrifying 'enhanced interrogation techniques,' including waterboarding and sleep deprivation," Zhao said, calling the black sites "typical examples of the U.S. trampling on the rule of law."

The report from the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs released at the beginning of 2022 noted that the U.S. controls black sites in at least 54 countries.

Over 100,000 people were detained at these sites, including Muslims, women and children. U.S. taxpayers are spending US$540 million a year just to detain prisoners at Guantanamo.

"However, not a single U.S. official has so far been held to account for devising, authorizing or implementing the secret detention and torture program," Zhao said, adding that the U.S. government has gone even further to cover up and deny its crimes against human rights.

In 2020, after the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) noted that the U.S. forces may have committed war crimes in Afghanistan. The U.S. leveled sanctions and imposed visa restrictions on several officials, including the chief prosecutor of the ICC. In 2021, after the UN Committee Against Torture said that the CIA black sites are rife with torture, the U.S. government refused to disclose relevant information, citing confidentiality.

"Facts speak louder than words," Zhao said, noting that the U.S. black sites around the world fully indicate that the U.S. has no right to point a finger at any other country in the name of democracy and human rights.
