A SHOCKING armed mass brawl between dozens of men broke out on the streets of Croydon, South London in broad daylight, amid growing concern over violence in the capital

Incredible footage captured a huge fight involving up to 20 men, who were equipped with brutal weapons. The brawl erupted along London Road, in West Croydon in broad daylight. Bystanders watched on in horror as the perpetrators used poles, bats and knives to attack each other.

The violent mass brawl was filmed by a bystander, who wished to remain anonymous.

A huge crowd of people can be seen watching the fight unfolds, as it spills into the road and even brings traffic to a standstill.

The pavement is strewn with what appear to be cardboard crates used for carrying vegetables and fresh produce.

Grove Park stabbing: Man dies following fight in chicken shop in south-east London

A man has died following a fight in a chicken shop in south-east London

Three people were arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday.

Police were called just before midnight on Friday to the shop in Downham Way, Grove Park, and found two men suffering stab and head injuries.

Both were taken to hospital. The first man, aged 34, died on Saturday morning. His next of kin have been informed.

The second man, aged 51, was released from hospital following treatment and was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Two other men, aged 40 and 46, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

But all three were then further arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday and were being questioned by police.

The victim, who hasn't been named, was not a worker at the chicken shop.

A man who lives across the road from the crime scene told the Standard: "I heard shouting but you always hear shouting here.

"I didn't take much notice. Something happened there [at the shop] a month ago.

"Police have still got it cordoned off. There must have been about 25 officers there last night, the whole road was shut down."

He said the attack happened at a chicken shop called "Metro", which was until recently named Perfect Peri Peri and Pizza.

Man dies in north London stabbing

A 29-year-old man has been stabbed to death in north London

Scotland Yard said officers found the man with serious injuries in Houndsfield Road, Edmonton, shortly after 8.10pm on Saturday.

The London Ambulance Service was also called to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead just after 9pm.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death and is currently in hospital.

DCI Paul Considine appealed on Sunday for possible witnesses from a nearby football club to come forward.

“A man was fatally stabbed following an altercation," he said. "There was a party taking place at the nearby Old Edmontonians FC clubhouse on Saturday evening. Lots of people were out and about.

"Members of the public pursued and detained a male suspect following this attack in a nearby field. He was subsequently arrested by police.

“I need all those present to call police with information about what they saw take place.

“We are in the process of gathering witness statements and reviewing local CCTV footage. A crime scene remains in place and specialist forensics team are working on this case. The incident is not thought to be connected to the event or the football club. Please do call us with any information you have.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 7400 of September 14. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

In a separate incident, a 16-year-old boy was arrested after another teenager was knifed in east London.

Hackney Police said a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the area of Dalston Lane. His condition is understood to be non life-threatening.

A further crime scene is currently in place in the Clarence Road area of Hackney, where a knife was found.

showing affluent lifestyle

A video shows three Birmingham gangsters boasting about how tough they are and showing them with bikini babes, cash, mansions and fast cars

Shaun Barnhurst, Kyle Esty and Remi Carty appear in the rap music footage which glamorises guns and drugs.

But a three year investigation by police wiped the smug smiles from their faces - and now they're looking at almost 40 years in prison.

The video which has been viewed nearly 50,000 times on Youtube was shown during their trial at Birmingham Crown Court as evidence - and part of it can be viewed above.

In it the trio frolic with scantily clad women in swimming pools and bubble baths, hold wads of cash and rap about guns, drugs and violence.

A West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) investigation spanning three years led to their arrest, crown court trial and prison sentences.

DCI Ronan Tyrer, from ROCU, said: “This has been a protracted investigation but diligent phone, investigative, CCTV and forensic work showed these three were all acting together in this criminal enterprise of conspiring to supply drugs and, in the case of Carty and Barnhurst, possessing firearms.

“They had a friendship spanning many years, which was evidenced on their mobile devices, including the YouTube video where they rap about shootings, cash, drugs and the police.

"Carty and Barnhurst were childhood friends and went to school together.

"But that friendship evolved into criminality and I am pleased with the sentences handed out today, which will put a stop to their activities for the foreseeable future.”

Remi Carty, who is the main rapper in the video, first came to police attention in 2016 when he was caught with a loaded pistol in a Birmingham fast food restaurant.

After his release from prison, he remained on licence and when detectives conducted a warrant at a property in Redhill Road, Northfield in September 2018, CCTV showed the 20-year-old fleeing the property in his socks as police arrived.

Officers found a large quantity of class A drugs, a loaded 9mm pistol, a sawn-off shotgun and ammunition in two bags in a shed in the rear garden.

Fingerprint analysis also connected Carty’s friend - 21-year-old Shaun Barnhurst - to the find.

Two months later, firearms officers stopped an Audi S3 driven by Barnhurst at his home address in Acorn Gardens, Stirchley and found 71 wraps of heroin and a lock knife in his possession.

A search of a grey Seat Leon parked on the driveway at the property also revealed a sawn-off shotgun - stolen from a burglary in Warwickshire six days earlier - crack cocaine, heroin and a large quantity of cash.

Barnhurst was arrested and a man who fled the vehicle as officers approached was later identified as Carty.

During the investigation a third man - Kyle Esty - retrieved items from a wheelie bin at Barnhurst’s address and between November and January 2019 the 22-year-old made several street-level drug deals.

He was arrested on January 29 and found to be in possession of 90 wraps of street-deal size class A drugs with a larger quantity found at his home address in Sherbourne Street, Northfield, along with cash and a drug dealing kit.

Carty, from High Street, Stourbridge , had also been arrested earlier that month.

The sentences

All three were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday July 8. They received the following sentences:

• Barnhurst was sentenced to 15 years for possession with intent to supply firearms and ammunition, and possession with intent to supply class A drugs after pleading guilty on 13 December last year.

• Carty was sentenced to 15 years for conspiracy to possess firearms and conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, after pleading guilty on 7 June.

• Esty was sentenced to six years and nine months for conspiracy to supply and possession with intent to supply class A drugs after pleading guilty on 27 February.

Jodie Chesney murdered
in a drug turf war

17-year-old Jodie Chesney was killed in a "terrible and cowardly" stabbing during a drug turf war, a court has heard

Jodie Chesney was stabbed in the back while playing music and smoking cannabis with friends in a park in Harold Hill, east London, on 1 March.

She may not have been the intended target of the attack, the prosecution told the Old Bailey jury.

Manuel Petrovic, 20, Svenson Ong-a-kwie, 19, both from Romford, and two boys, aged 16 and 17, deny murder.

The jury was told two people came out of the dark in the park and the taller of them swung his right arm at Jodie's back.

She suffered a deep wound to her back and was left bleeding heavily as her attackers disappeared seconds later.

Jodie's boyfriend Eddie Coyle, 18, caught her as she fell and eased her to the ground, crying and screaming at Jodie to stay awake while holding her hand.

The first call to emergency services was made at 21:22 GMT and two police officers were on the scene within 13 minutes.

The ambulance set off for the Royal London Hospital on Whitechapel Road, but it was decided that doctors in a car should meet it half-way at an Esso Garage in Gants Hill.

They attempted to resuscitate Jodie on the forecourt of the petrol station, prosecutor Crispin Aylett QC said.

"Despite the best efforts of all concerned, there had been no cardiac activity for some time. Jodie was pronounced dead at 22:26," he added.

Mr Aylett told jurors none of Jodie's friends had any idea who was responsible for the "terrible and cowardly" attack.

Jurors were told the four defendants were involved in the supply of drugs and one or more of Jodie's friends had bought cannabis from those accused in the past.

"The drug-dealing world is one of turf wars, rivalries and pathetic claims for 'respect'," Mr Aylett said.

He said, however, that there was "nothing to suggest that Jodie was involved in the supply of drugs or that she might have upset anyone".

"If the prosecution are right in saying that Jodie Chesney was an entirely blameless individual who got caught up in some quarrel between drug dealers, then her murder was the terrible but predictable consequence of an all-too casual approach to the carrying - and using - of knives."

Following national publicity, police got a breakthrough when a witness reported two males getting into a stationary black Vauxhall Corsa.

Mr Aylett said Jodie's murder might have gone unsolved if not for the chance sighting by witness, Andrei Mihai, who reported seeing a stationary car near to the park where Jodie was stabbed and from where he heard screaming.

'Entirely blameless'

A couple of hours after the killing, a black Corsa registered to Mr Petrovic was found abandoned about two miles away, he said.

Following his arrest, Mr Petrovic, of Highfield Road, Romford, east London, admitted driving to Harold Hill with a friend and two others who had gone into the park to collect money and drugs.

He denied knowing the pair were armed beforehand, the court heard.

The trial continues.

Man stabbed in two-hour
wave of muggings

Private security guards were today posted outside an exclusive private school after a man stabbed by moped thugs collapsed on its front steps

The smartly dressed victim staggered into the doorway of £20,000-a-year Knightsbridge School as parents were picking their children up at about 4pm last night.

Staff attempted to stop the bleeding before the victim, who is in his twenties, was taken to hospital. His condition was not life-threatening.

Police said the attack was the first of four linked muggings in just two hours in the wealthy central London neighbourhood yesterday.

The muggers attempted to rob another victim in Bryanston Square 45 minutes later, before targeting a woman in Elm Park Gardens at 5.50pm. Seconds later, two men on a moped targeted another victim in Onslow Gardens.

This morning, two bodyguards were posted near the school campus in Lennox Gardens and Pont Street. The extra security were said to have been provided by a wealthy family to ensure a safe passage for their children.

Magoo Giles, principal of the 430-pupil school which opened in 2005 for children ages three to 13, told the Standard: “The victim was, as far as I know, approached by two people on a moped in helmets who stabbed him when he wouldn’t hand over his watch.

“He got to the school where our staff offered him first aid and tried to stop the bleeding. I am very proud of the way they acted. The man was speaking but was in shock.

“He was taken to hospital but I understand he has since been discharged. The school has a counselling service for anyone who needs it after witnessing an incident like this.

“Our parents have been very supportive and with the nights drawing in we all need to be extra vigilant.”

The victim, who has no connection with the school, was said to have had a knife wound to his buttocks.

A female witness said: “There were two guys on a bike. They were kicking and hitting the man. One made a slash motion but I didn’t see the knife.

“It looked like the smartly dressed man was trying to fight them off. They were shouting at him to give them something. It was very vicious.”

Rawan Halabi Majali, whose children attend the school, said: “This happened when the kids were leaving school. What a horrible and traumatic event for kids to experience.”

One of the guards said today: “There is usually one of us but today the family wanted two after the attack… these robbers have machetes and long knives. It’s tough when you are not armed.”

Comedian Michael McIntyre was robbed of a £15,000 watch by two hammer-wielding men on mopeds outside his children’s school in Golders Green last year.

Stabbing victim killed to score points

A young man was fatally stabbed by masked machete-wielding attackers “scoring points” in a postcode war, his girlfriend said today

The 25-year-old, named locally as Assad, was knifed to death in Camden High Street at 11.10pm on Thursday, the third murder victim in the borough of Camden in five days.

Two more young men were killed in violence during another weekend of bloodshed in London which brings the total number of homicides in the capital to 107 so far this year.

Assad’s girlfriend, a 21-year-old student, said he “was in the wrong place at the wrong time” when he was attacked. She said: “There were five of them who attacked him, they had balaclavas and a machete.

“They wore gloves and plastic covers on their shoes so they wouldn’t leave bloody footprints. It’s like a game to them, it’s about territory. They were scoring points.”

She added: “He was not mixed up in anything bad. I am heartbroken.”

At 11.55pm on Friday, Omar Smith, 34, was slashed with a glass bottle during an attempted robbery at Metro’s chicken shop in Grove Park, south-east London. He died in hospital the next day.

Three men, aged 51, 40 and 46 were arrested on suspicion of murder. The 40-year-old has been released under investigation, and the other men have been bailed to a date in mid-October.

In a separate killing, a 29-year-old was fatally knifed yards from a party at the Old Edmontonians FC clubhouse in Edmonton on Saturday. Guests tried to save the victim but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A suspected knifeman was apprehended on the club’s football pitch by other guests. Detectives arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the incident. He is currently in a hospital and police said they are not looking for anyone else.

Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy is due in court today charged with attempted murder after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in Ealing. He was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

Police said today the victim remains in hospital in a critical condition after the attack in Elthorne Park Road at the junction with Boston Road, shortly before 6pm on Friday.

Queensbury stabbing:
Man fights for life

A man is in hospital fighting for his life after being knifed in north-west London

Police and paramedics were scrambled to Eton Grove, Queensbury, to reports of a stabbing at about 6.30pm on Wednesday.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was rushed to hospital, where he remained in a critical condition.

No arrests have been made, Scotland Yard said.

A Section 60 order, which allows officers to stop and search anyone, is in place until midnight covering the areas of Queensbury - both Brent and Harrow - and Kenton.

The Brent borough branch of the Met Police tweeted earlier: “A section 60 is in place until midnight tonight covering the wards of Queensbury (both Brent and Harrow) and Kenton following a stabbing in Eton Grove.

It added: “Man in his 20s en route to hospital in a critical condition. No arrests.”

gunman before being shot

A woman is fighting for life in hospital today after being hit at close range in a double shooting outside a Caribbean restaurant in north London

The 46-year-old victim was left with critical injuries and a 31-year-old man was also wounded in the attack outside Sweet Peppa in Wood Green, shortly before 10pm last night.

Witnesses said they heard five shots before two attackers fled the scene on foot.

One told the Standard how the woman “fought for her life” and attempted to disarm one of the gunmen even after being shot.

A man was holding a pistol, he was a metre away from the woman pointing it at her. I thought it was a fake gun because she was still trying to hold onto him even after the shots.

“She was still standing for five minutes after, before she collapsed on the floor. I couldn’t look after that. The gunmen ran away after.”

Father-of-two Erdogan Guzel was shot and killed outside his baker’s shop, which was next door to last night’s shooting, in 2015.

The latest attack came just over 12 hours after a 33-year-old man was left fighting for his life following a separate shooting in Tottenham at 9.30am yesterday

A £10,000 reward was offered by Crimestoppers today for information over the murder of shop worker Wilson Varela, 24, shot in a case of mistaken identity outside the Fiddler’s Elbow pub in Kentish Town last Sunday.

Knife ordeal for Havering couple
as raiders steal designer bags

A couple were held at knifepoint by raiders who broke into their home to steal designer handbags

Police were called to reports of a burglary in Collier Row, Havering, at 9am yesterday.

The couple, in their twenties, were threatened with a knife before the gang fled with designer handbags and accessories.

Officers arrived as the suspects escaped in a stolen grey BMW 525i, which was then stopped in White Hart Lane.

Three males, aged 18, 20 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and vehicle taking. They remained in custody this morning.

Detective Sergeant Billy Baxter said: “At least one suspect is still outstanding. I urge anyone with information to contact police.”

4,000 Londoners
in county lines gangs

More than 4,000 Londoners, some as young as 11, have been drawn into “county lines” drug-dealing networks, a shock report on child exploitation revealed today

It said adverts were being placed on Snapchat and Instagram to “groom” vulnerable youngsters, with the lure of “fake lifestyles” and the promise of making large sums of money.

Recruits were forced to become “money mules” and hand over their bank account details (“deets”) and bank cards (“squares”). These were used to launder money from the trafficking of drugs to provincial and seaside towns.

Today’s report said a £3 million “rescue and response” programme funded by City Hall had helped 568 victims of county lines in its first year. The youngest was 11 and the oldest 62, although more than two-thirds were boys aged 15 to 18.

A total of 4,013 Londoners were estimated to have been entrapped in county lines activities between January 2018 and April this year, once data from the Met police and social services was included. Lambeth was highest with 271 individuals, followed by Newham (265) and Croydon (264). Norwich, Brighton and Portsmouth were the most frequently visited cities.

Victims used National Rail or National Express coaches or cars hired at Heathrow and Gatwick to transport drugs. One ruse was to hide drugs in empty PlayStation consoles.

Efforts to help those involved have been frustrated by the fear of reprisals, their need to pay off “debt bondage” to gangmasters, and the lack of rehousing opportunities.

Victims were often selected after being excluded from school, suffering family breakdown or developing a drug habit. They were approached in pupil referral units, youth clubs and fast-food outlets and “promised a lifestyle that motivates them”, the report said.

Mayor Sadiq Khan said: “We are beginning to see the devastating scale of the impact with thousands of young people involved in lines reaching all corners of the country. We are supporting young people where we can, but we know we’re only scratching the surface of a major national issue.”

Student jailed after making
guns with 3D printer



A university student who made handguns with 3D printer has been jailed, in what is thought to be a legal first in the UK

Tendai Muswere, 26, claimed the two pistols found at his home were for a film project and that he had found ammunition in a park.

But he was jailed today for three years after admitting two counts of possession and two counts of manufacturing firearms.

Muswere had been a media studies student at London Southbank University, Southwark Crown Court heard.

But Judge Jeffrey Pegden QC dismissed his attempts to say he was working on a film.

Judge Pegden said: “You had not written your script and had no purpose for the props."

Police searches of Muswere’s home in 2017 and 2018 found 3D printers, firearms components and cannabis.

The judge added: “On the second occasion police came to your house you were clearly aware of the illegality of your actions as you threw parts of a firearm out the kitchen window as police were making their way inside."

The judge added that the motives for Muswere to make the weapons were “unclear” but found they were not to be used as props.

Earlier this year Muswere pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

John Kearney, defending Muswere, said: "He's something of a loner, somebody who has a long history of mental illness, not somebody with a history of violence or somebody with a history of an association with criminals."

Southwark Crown Court heard that Muswere suffered with paranoid schizophrenia, and smoked cannabis to help with anxiety.

The case was a legal first

Claire Holder from the Crown Prosecution Service said: "This was the first prosecution of its kind in the UK and we hope it serves as a warning to anyone who is considering possessing and manufacturing firearms."

Ms Holder added: "Muswere claimed that the firearms found in his flat were made for a university film project and were incapable of firing deadly shots.

"However, he was using 3D designs found on the internet which were specifically for the making of live firearms.

"Evidence also showed that he had made repeated attempts to print the weapons, which we believe showed that he was trying to perfect a workable firearm.

"It is illegal to manufacture or possess prohibited weapons without a licence."

Police appeal after shockingly
violent attack on Tube staff

Police are trying to identify a group of people after staff suffered a "shockingly violent" attack at West Ham Tube station

Officers were called to the station at about 7.40pm on Wednesday after two young men and a woman barged through the ticket gates.

The woman was asked to leave by Transport for London (TfL) staff because she had lit a cigarette.

The two men she was with then threatened a member of staff and and lunged forwards to try and attack them.

Police are appealing to identify these men (British Transport Police)

When the victim and another TfL worker quickly retreated to the staff office for their own safety, the group pried open the door.

The two men then punched the staff members multiple times.

Pc Luke Dear, from British Transport Police, said: "This was a shockingly violent and determined attack on staff who were simply trying to do their job, they should be able to do their job without the fear of an assault.

"Thankfully they weren't seriously injured but of course were left incredibly shaken by this terrifying ordeal.

"We believe the men and the woman in the CCTV images may have information which could help our investigation, and we'd like to speak with them as soon as possible.

"If you recognise them, or have any information, please contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 561 of September 18, 2019."

Vernon Everitt, managing director of London Underground, said: “This sickening attack on our colleagues at West Ham station will not be tolerated.

"We want the perpetrators brought to justice and will work with the police to do everything we can to apprehend them and then prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.

"We call on anyone who has information on this horrific attack to get in touch with the British Transport Police.”

Chalk Farm stabbing: Two
men rushed to hospital

Two young men have been rushed to hospital after a double stabbing on a busy road in north London

Police and paramedics rushed to Adelaide Road, a short distance from Chalk Farm Tube station, just after 7am on Friday.

Two men, both believed to be aged in their early 20s, were found with stab injuries.

One man, who had been stabbed repeatedly, was found outside Constable House. A second man was found nearby suffering from a single stab injury.

Paramedics took the first man to a hospital in central London. Police fear his injuries may be life-changing.

The second man was taken to an east London hospital where he remains. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

A crime scene remains in place, police said. There have been no arrests.

to death in skate park

A 15-year-old boy was found dead in Salt Hill Park in Slough on Saturday

Two youths have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 15-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in a skate park.

The victim was found with a stab wound in Salt Hill Park in Slough, Berkshire, at about 18:30 BST on Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and a post-mortem examination was set to take place on Sunday.

Two boys being held on suspicion of murder, also aged 15, remain in custody.

Thames Valley Police said the stabbing followed an "altercation" involving a group of males.

Det Ch Insp Andy Shearwood said: "I would like to further reassure people that we believe that all of those involved in this incident were known or associated with each other, and that this was not a random attack.

"I believe a number of other people were in the skate park at the time this occurred, so I would like to appeal to anyone who saw this incident to come forward, if they have not already done so.

"I would particularly like to appeal to anyone who has any mobile phone footage of the incident or knows who is responsible for this crime."
