Sad to read though, the 4th of July(as I understand it) should be a happy occasion with peaceful celebrations.

Gun crime is really bad in America, especially in certain parts of Chicago
In the black neighbourhoods of Chicago people live with the almost hourly sound of gunfire
Black people have been encouraged to develop a drug culture
Brief History:Black people in America have always been treated as an underclass
During WW2 the American armed forces that came to the UK to offer their support, were racially segregated
Literally
There were black units and white units
Before coming to the UK they were told that this country was different and that UK units were not segregated
(the UK had many thousands of soldiers and airmen who volunteered to come here from the Caribbean to fight for England)
Much of our black population is descended from those who fought for UK and returned here to live after the war
Sadly, black people discovered they were not as welcome here during peace time, as they were when they were fighting to protect us
NOTE:Those original black families did eventually manage to settle peacefully in the UK, most buying their own homes
The trouble the UK has now with black gangs is often drug related and is often caused by more recent arrivals from Jamaica
Quick background - marijuana has been grown in Jamaica probably for many centuries and used for medicinal purposes by people with little money to spend on health care
Only in more recent years has marijuana become a cash crop
A large number of Jamaican drug dealers moved to US selling drugs in America, often coming up against American drug gangs who chased them back to Jamaica
(Nowadays it is Mexicans who control most of the drugs in America)
In many instances the American government deported them back to Jamaica
Once back in Jamaica, many of those drug dealers then came to the UK and we had an influx of violent Yardie drug gangs
Back to the US drug problem:During the Vietnamese war, many young men - both black and white - were conscripted into the army
While in the army these men experienced somewhat less segregated units than their fathers had experienced during WW2
However, when the fighting was over and they returned home to America expecting to be treat like heroes, they were still treated as an underclass and often unable to find jobs
The large black community realised that if they wanted anything done they would have to do it themselves
BLACK POWER WAS BORNBlack book shops, black self-help groups started spring up throughout the American cities
The Black Liberation Front and Black Panther movements became strong and well respected within their communities
They opened numerous community projects - they fed and clothed the homeless and gave children their only hot meal of the day
I do
NOT have the full details but someone somewhere within the American government, thought it would be a good idea to push drugs into the black communities to stop their growing strength and increasing organisational abilities
Very quickly many black communities changed from setting up self-help community projects to tearing their communities apart with drug gangs and violence
As we have all seen in recent years, America is far more interested in fighting wars abroad than fighting against the drug gangs that are terrifying most inner city black neighbourhoods
