- Abroad with New Agreement
The initiative, backed by Kurdistan Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the Ministry of Education, aims to institutionalize Kurdish language instruction for students abroad, ensuring greater access to education and cultural awareness.
- “Since 2022, we have worked with the Kurdish Diaspora Confederation to teach the Kurdish language to students of different ages living abroad,” Ministry of Education spokesperson Saman Siwaili said. “Thousands of students have already benefited from online lessons, learning to read and write in Kurdish, as well as gaining knowledge about Kurdish history and culture.”
“We will add more teachers in the Kurdistan Region to support Kurdish schools abroad,” Siwaili said. “Many Kurdish schools operate in European countries, and while the Confederation oversees them, we will provide direct assistance, including sending Kurdish language textbooks.”
- So far, 2,450 Kurdish language textbooks have been distributed to Kurdish schools outside the country, and officials plan to expand the program further under the Confederation’s supervision
