I think it is an hypocrisy to ban kosher/halal slaughter if conditions of normal slaughter are not improved and severely controlled. And the same for these animal husbandries which are cruel meat-factories.

I have no love or respect for any religion which believes in animal sacrifice

In reality, if we had not heard of either Jews or Muslims and someone started a new religion that required animal sacrifice - the religion would be instantly banned worldwide and those who believed in animal sacrifice would be imprisoned (and rightly so)
