kassem: Do you believe that alavies adopted some Islamic costumes to escape the Arabs sword ??? That is at least what I think. How come there is also a minority of Turks that are alevies, were they Kurds originally?? When did they become alevies??

I think Alevis are more found in North West of Kurdistan - there are Zaza Kurds there... And as we know - Zaza Kurds have been hunted much more than the other Kurds... They make up about 3-4 million of Kurds. and Mostly they are Alevi... Don't forget that Alevism is an old Kurdish religion ;) It comes from Êzdanîsm... - or rather it is from the same place...

Diri,

Alevism does not come from Yezisidm. It comes from Shamanism which is the old religion of nomad Turks and even now practiced by some Turks today!! That is why Alevism is more widespread among Turks than Kurds...

And lastly, Zazas do not accept them as Kurdish.. They have a distinct culture and language... Most of the Zazas I know here in Turkey do not feel comfortabe among Kurds and some go even further...

You mean don't accept themselves.... as Kurds... Well - What can I say? there are MANY sides of THAT story ;)

We know Zaza people too you know... and turn on ROJ TV - OH! Sorry . yes it is FORBIDDEN!

Anyway - if you get the chance to have a peek at ROJTV you will see that 20-30 % of their programs are Zaza ;)

And I know what an Eshîret is - My family is an Eshîret... So thank you for the ABC ;)
