HEval - No offense...

MEDYA - Yes - Well lets just say it like this - When Islam came to the Arabs - it gave women rights they NEVER dreamed of having... when Islam came to Kurdistan - women lost more than they had while being Zerdeshtî...

By the way - a good explenation for why we can say Zerdest was a Kurd is:

We say Zerdesht/Zertisht or Serdesht- this can mean a lot of thing in Kurdish... But it means NOTHING in persian...

ZER - yellow, also gold in some dialects of Kurdish
Desht - Desert or plateu
Ser - upon (standing upon something - e.g standing in a desert)
Tisht - "thing"... meaning "Yellow thing" or "Gold thing"...

While in persian... it means nothing - and they even pronounce it Zarthoust... and this makes even LESS sense in persian... except for the "Zer"... which is yellow in persian also..

Sorry, I'm still stuck on the izedi or Yezidi question. All of their literature says Yezidi and I sure don't want to insult anyone, but the email address for the Yezidi of America is mailto:yezidi@epal.com So, how can this be insulting if they have that email address?

I wil gladly change my links but I can do nothing if their webpage has Yezidi written all over it.

There is a very ancient writing on a cave or rock in the area of Israel, that says something like "Bless Yaweh and his Ashera" This reminds me of the Jewish Zoroastrian origins. Some archeologists say that the reason the Jews do not use God's name is because at some point each tribe had a name for their God, and to solve this issue, they just made a ruling that God had no name that could be spoken. This made everyone stop fighting about what God's name would be. So, all tribes could be Judaic and not have to call God a name of another tribe. Anything like this in ancient religions in the region of the Medes, Kurds and Zoroastrians?

DON*T BE SILLY!

Of course it is okey to call them YÊZEDI... Just look at the Kurdish music group "Koma Zerdeshtê Kal"... They are YÊZEDÎ! On RojTV they always say they are "YÊZEDÎ"... So who cares what some silly shias think when the YÊZEDÎ themselves DON*T CARE...

The suppression of ethnic cultures and minority religious groups in attempting to forge a modern nation were not unique to Turkey but occurred in very similar ways in its European neighbours - Bruinessen.

Hey, I have a weird family superstition. I don't know where it comes from, but does this sound familiar to you?

Don't point your finger at a star...it's bad luck. Anyone ever hear this?
