What about social problems?

PostAuthor: eva » Sat Sep 20, 2008 9:12 am

Hello every body

I have two days in her. I noted that you have discussions in diffrent topics, politcs, religion, music, language,...so on. But, I did not found any intresting in social issues. Or, may be i failed to found it. For example, honor killing in Kurdistan is very important issue, i did not find any topic about it.
So, I have discided as a social researcher and your friend to take your attention to social problems in Kurdistan to be discussed.
First of all, I shall try to define the concept of social problem in sociological term. then, I shall preapare a series of articles about diffrent social issues to discuss them together. finally, we would have a lot of information about these kind of problems that are very important to our society today. I shall start with the deffinition and why it is worth to study.
The simplest way to difine social problem is that of Wkepydia:
[flash=] "Social issues are matters which directly or indirectly affect many or all members of a society and are considered to be problems, controversies related to moral values, or both. Social issues include poverty, violence, pollution, injustice, suppression of human rights, discrimination, and crime, as well as abortion, gay marriage, gun control, autism, and the teaching of evolution, to name a few. Social issues are related to the fabric of the community, including conflicts among the interests of community members, and lie beyond the control of any one individual".[/flash]

This deffinition seeks to the dimention of the sourses of social problems. In other words, it doesnt answer us about the factors behind them. The most important factors are WARS, FAST SOCIAL CHANGES, TECHNOLOGY, and NATURAL DISASTERS . In our society , we have the first three factors directly and clearly.

So what do you say, is it worth to know about this subject?
I am egger to know your opinions.

good step ... actually Eva xanim
because of some reasons RBK members couldn't talk about this in KURDISTAN .. i guess you're living in southern Kurdistan just like me and in our region this kind of social problem are surrounding us .. and we need to update the brain of our community and update our People one by one so as to avoid some bad things like Honor killing .. but wanted to say that most of Member of RBK are not living in our region and i guess they have heard about it only .. but for someone like me and you, who lives in southern Kurdistan its another story .. and of course i'll so glad to hear your opinions as a social researcher ..
most important thing that we had to do so as to avoid honor killing and other un-wanted issue is to update kurdish peoples brain by good education of this time .. and help them to change of the way they're thinking .. and etc ..

but, go ahead tell us your opinion like a social researcher and how do you see things like a Educated mother as well ? ..

Thank you Lost for respone to me.

Actually, I would like to start with this question: why we do avoid talking about social problems? I am disagree with you in the point that most of RBK are living out of Kurdistan, and that is why they do not intresting in social problems, because, for example, we have a lot of cases of honor killing and other social problems in Western countries! Also, this ignorance to social issues can be seen in Kurdistan itself.
As a student in sociology, I have realized that the POLITICS is going on in the SOCIETY. Which means that, in order to have a good politics, one have to have good information about socio-anlysiz, to have good steps. again the question, why we do not care about social issues like youth, women, children, teenagers, olds, mental helth and so on?
the answer in my opinion is that in totaliterian and dictatorship political syestems, they use to ignor social issues because talking about these problems is leading to progress. progress mean lebirty, and the end of the power of the dectator!
I say that we are standing in this stage moveless, so it is become like to be a CULTURE of IGNORING SOCIAL ISSUES. Every single person of us, young, man, woman, ...are talking about politics. we are all POLITICIANS, but we do not know the right way to do that , because we do not understand our society! and we think that social issues are SUB subject similarely to the subordination to women and childrn!
Can you or any freind answer me: What is the diffrence between the formal law and informal law? and why shuld we know the answer? what is the natural law? what is the realation between human's personality and identity and these diffrent kinds of law?

in short, why we are a tibal, traditional, and we do not believe in individuality or individual's freedom, while we spent most of our history looking for freedom?
I assum that we can have a good conversation about these important issues rather than politics.

Thank you again.
