I think the media is trying to scare you - it is not much worse than normal influenza but the mortality rate is slightly higher. Also when your body gets rid of the flu, the immune system is so 'tired' from trying to fight it that your body very easily picks up new infections afterwards. The biggest difference I saw with my friend who caught it was that he had some problems breathings, his lungs had been targetted by the virus, which is typical for swine flu.
