Hmmm.... Dilshad ---> I see... But so what of it? This makes us BOTH sound very childish - but I am the grandson of my tribes Axa...
I believe in that system - FOR THE PAST - because our people had no real unity and the "common pain common dreams" theory wasn't all that true before... We had to have strong people to uphold the traditions and lifestyle which we come from - but today I resent that idea! Because every time and place has it's needs! And to say that I support the Axa system for what it WAS is just part of my pride as a Kurd. Not because I come from it - no not at all - even those who don't come from it supported it's paramount and undeniable importance... It HAS been the most important factor for the suvival of Kurdish culture... Believe it or not my brother! The Turks and Persians and Arabs SAW that the Axa's and Mîr's had a great and unmatched strenght in the society which our grandparents lived in - and therefore tried to rule the Axa's and Mîr's... They could have abolished them altogether... That was the only way they could have "peaceful" influence on Kurds... And thanks to the Axa's and Mîr's conservative and "backward" attitude (as our enemies described them) they managed to keep their roots and traditions alive... I do however (Like I CLEARLY stated in the first post support a strong hierarchy in Kurdistan) I support the will of the Kurds and specially the "peasant"...
But the reason I say all this (And I see we agree about) is that I support KURDISH culture and it's evolution - our culture is a STRONG one and it has influenced our occupiers - not the other way around... ANd we need to keep on Kurdish tracks not on Turkish/Persian/Arab... We should BUILD on what we have instead of "borrowing" from our neighbours... That is what I am angered at - because that is what HALF the Kurds in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan are doing - they are forgetting their roots - like they don't teach their children Kurdish, they don't make Kurdish food, they don't use Kurdish clothes (which are very unique for each region) and they don't play Kurdish music... They are GIVING their culture to the Turks/Persians and Arabs... The Maqam which has been spread from Afghanistan to Morrocco is KURDISH! And we must NOT GIVE IT AWAY!!!
I am realy just agreeing with you - and I am sure that you can see the benfits of having a strong Axa system before and not now... Today we can learn Kurdish at school in Turkey (private) LEGALY and that was unheard of 80 years back... So we are making progress - and we are making a strong comback... But we need to respect and understand the past of our people - we can'tdo like the PKK and say that ALL of Kurdish culture sucks... And that the Axa system NEVER was good for anything except oppression... That is a strong and wrong thing to say... Because we need to look at it in different angles and be more nuanced... Todays light is stronger than that enlightement that was found among Kurds 80 years ago...
