Ayan / Liyan

PostAuthor: Qamishlo » Sun Mar 08, 2009 8:38 pm

Hello friends :)
I have a friend has got a baby and he called him " Ayan " he said it's a kurdish name and means " The dawn ".
But he said he is not sure and asked me to look for its meaning.
My cousin also has got a baby and he called her " Liyan " but I don't know the meaning
"Ayan " and "Liyan ".
Does anyone know what do these names mean ?

Regards

Hey Qamishlo! What's up?

Liyan reminds me of Chinese name Li Yan. I don't know, but Ayan makes me thinks of Ayan-ool Sam. :D Ayan=Journey or travel where I'm from. Also Ayan=clear or evident too...

Thanks kak Barish
I am sorry, the name is " Eyan " not " Ayan ".
It was a typo.Anyway, I guess Ayan and Eyan have the same meaning and I go for the second meaning you gave " Clear and evidence ".
In which language are they ? My friend said they are kurdish names and may be presian, too .

Kak Qamishlo,

Beyan or BAyan is Kurdish and means 'Dawn'. 'Liyan' is a bit coplicated. It is Kurdish but it is not a name. Simply it means 'they' or 'them. For example: Liyan gery bron= let them go. liyan geranewe= they have been invited.

Thanks guys :D :D :D
So you all agree that Eyen means evident .. a good name and good meaning :)
as for what kak Londener said about " Liyan " I think he gave what it is meant in Sorani dialect.
I think the name may have different meanings in another Kurdish dialect. :) Anyway, Thanks a lot guys

Eyan or Ayan is not Kurdish or Turkish. It is Arabic and comes from '3eyan', which means 'witness' and 'noble'. '3' sounds like Ali in Arabic.

eyan or Ayan have the same meaning .

The origin is the word "Eyn" which means EYE in Arabic , So the word Eyan(ayan) could be an adjective or a verb for " examin by sight " " examiner " . It all depend on how you pronouce it and where you put the emphasis .

Ayana -----> youaino------> eyan(ayan)

so Eyan(Ayan) is neither Turkish nor Kurdish no matter how you root it .
