DIY Lowering High Blood Pressure
On 15th of this May at 8:30am, I discovered my average blood pressure of four checks was 147.25. The highest was 150 and the lowest was 144. This was horrified me but by the following day in the morning my average blood pressure of four checks was down to 114. The highest was 118 and the lowest was 112. So what was the secret?
Less than five years ago my doctor warned me that I had high blood pressure. He put me on blood pressure lowering tablets and advised me to change my diet. After that I changed my diet completely. I studied all sorts of food online to find out which one could help to lower blood pressure. So I chose a assortment of vegs, fruits, nuts and fish, first as medicine to lower my blood pressure and second as diet.
Parallel to that I also bought a blood pressure check machine and started to check my blood pressure at least three times a day, each time I did four checks one after another, two times on my right arms and two times on my left arms. During the checks, I was moving from one arm to the next per check. Each time I started with the right arm.
When I bought the machine, my average blood pressure was around 140 although I had been on blood pressure lowering tablets for a while. But each time I did the check I noticed the last check was lower than the first check and almost each check was lower than the one before. I also noticed each day the average blood pressure was lower than the average blood pressure of the previous day. This continued until my average blood pressure reached to under 120.
I was very proud of myself for bringing down my blood pressure to 120 because I thought it was because of my diet. Later I gave up checking my blood pressure every day. I did it after that once a week. Later I almost forgot it. I remember the last time I checked my blood pressure, it was 117. After that I forgot about it until 14th of this May when I discovered the average blood pressure was 131, the highest was137 and the lowest was 123. This was a surprise, which I didn't believe.
I didn't have time to do further checks on the same day. But the following day of 15th of this month, I was shocked after checking my blood pressure, which was at an average of 147.25, the highest was 150 and the lowest was 144. I thought it was the end of the world. It was a confusing situation. Recently I had added some new vegs and stronger manoka honey to my diet. I thought they could be the reason. I checked each one. I ate each one a lone and after one hour checked my blood pressure. After each check my average blood pressure was getting lower. After twelve checks from around 9:00am on 15th of this month to around the same time on 16th May 2014, my average blood pressure was down to 114 from 147.25.
So what was the secret? It was obvious it didn't have anything to do with my food. So what is the explanation? I can explain it as a sort of DIY lowering high blood pressure. Because you are checking your blood pressure you are worried of the life-threatening of your high blood pressure and you want it to be lower as much as necessary to be healthy. Accordingly your body reacts to remedy the situation. This explains why each test was lower than the last check on each session and on each day.
The followings are the averages of the twelve tests within 24 hours: 147.25, 136.75, 124.75, 128.25, 118, 117.75, 120.5, 123.25, 106.75, 106.5, 108 and 114.
My advice is that to check your blood test each day at least three times, each time more than once on both arms and each time with a strong will and expectation to get a lower blood pressure. Hopefully it works for every one although we are all different.
