I disagree with the Middle East part religious evolution. According to Egyptian documents, the origin of the three major religions, 'Judaism, Christianity and Islam, comes from Ancient Egypt. Moses and Exodus story can be linked to Egyptian beliefs, and perhaps monotheism (originally, YWH was not the only God and could have a spouse) but Genesis myths and Abraham figure are undoubtedly Mesopotamian.

Zeitgeist stuff.

Christianity comes from Jesus Christ not Egypt or the pharaohs or the mummies or... I don't recall Set, Ra, Osiris, Horus, Apep, Anubis, or any other Egyptian god saying "I am the bread of Life" or "I am the way, truth, Life, and none comes to the Father but through Me."

Well Christianity has some strong judaic roots also, except for heretics marcionists.

I am watching Corpus Christi (that's the 3rd time) I adore that series :
