Carjacking in Kurdistan

The subject is in Kurdish. But click the video to see the action. It seems driving in Kurdistan is on anticlockwise direction.

The meaning of carjacking in UK, is when someone steals a car from it's owner by force

The carjacker pushes or pulls the owner form his own car then drives away

In the video all we see is a man getting into a car

We do not see any man being removed from the car

Could be a normal car theft

I should have googled for the meaning of carjacking. I remember one of my customers told his car was stolen. So I said: 'How it happened?'. He said: 'They just carjacked it'. I thought it meant the usual stealing.

Yes it is stealing. Because the police looking to find him.

Thankfully we do not normally come across the term 'carjacking' in the UK

In some parts of US people are at risk every time they stop at traffic lights - where they have to make sure their windows are closed and their doors are all locked with nothing of value - such as a handbag - showing

Also, getting in and out of cars in some 'high risk' areas :-o

I wonder if the owner of the car closed the doors. Before, Kurds were very confident about such things, but now, society is changing.

I remember the surprise of Kurds from Syria seeing that in France we close our house and car doors, because of thieves ( could not happen in Syria).

But in the same way, they were also surprised to visit the big supermarket of the FNAC (the French Virgin Megastore) because, according to them, in Syria, everybody would have stolen everything in such stores : at this time, big stores in Syria could only belong to State then, ad Baath was the biggest thief, people would have retaken all goods in reprisals.

But if a tourist lost his wallet with his passport a Syrian would have brought to the Consulate : stealing the State was ok, never people.

In Duhok there are not much robberies. Once, in school, a gang of kids stole pipe for the copper inside. Of course they worked for adults. They might be refugees, by the way : when something shameful happens, the Kurdish explanation is usually :

– Probably Arabs did that.
– And in any case, they are not from Duhok.

No he or she didn't close the door, he opened the door immediately. I think He or she also left the key in the car. That is way so easily the thief opened the door and drove away. The thief seemed to be expert. He was walking on the drivers side of the cars to see clues on the drivers side of the cars.

Even in my village people thought it was all right to take, steal, government property. The excuse was that the government was like a father and they, the villagers, were like his children, who can take from their father.

Example of carjacking:

Detroit FedEx truck containing more than 200 packages stolen after driver is CARJACKED in broad daylight

Driver Dyami Tate, 37, was held up at gunpoint at 2:30pm, Tuesday
His FedEx truck was found a mile away, and two male suspects were arrested
The suspects haven't yet been identified; it's not known if the parcels are missing
Tate, who has a nine-year-old daughter, says he's glad to be safe and unharmed

A gun-toting robber drove away with more than 200 packages after carjacking a FedEx truck at around 2:30pm on Tuesday.

Driver Dyami Tate, 37, was on Lindsay Street in Detroit's West Side when the man - described as wearing a black mask and black clothing - leaped into the cab brandishing a gun.

'I was thinking, like, just don't shoot me,' Tate, a father of one who has only been driving for FedEx for a month, told WXYZ. 'I mean, if you have to take the truck, then do that, but so long as I'm all right...'

Police found the truck around a mile away on Harlow Avenue, and arrested two suspects - the gunman, and another man who was following the FedEx truck in another vehicle.

The suspects have not yet been identified, but are both black males according to a PD Facebook post. It's not clear whether any or all of the parcels were stolen.

Detroit Police Department did not return a call requesting more information.

Tate, who was uninjured in the incident, said he was 'thankful' to be able to go home safely to his nine-year-old daughter.

He continued with his shift that day, and will return to work today but says he'll be extra careful in the future.

And he hopes that the arrest of the suspects will deter similar crimes. 'Hopefully it'll teach a lesson to a lot of other people that you can do what you're gonna do, but you might get caught,' he said.

In related news, a letter carrier was robbed at gunpoint in Blue Hill on Detroit's East Side on Friday morning.

The suspect, described as 5'6", was also described as having a black mask and black clothing.
