I think it already explains it self. Your Haplogroup J1* is the Grandfather of the Arabian J1c3d. J1* developed somewhere around East Anatolia-North Mesopotamia (in Kurdistan), moved into Levant, mixed up with the Proto-Semitic E1b* and moved into the Arabian Peninsula were it mutated to J1c3d. Your J1 is only found in the Caucasus and Mesopotamia while the Arabian J* is almost exclusively J1c3d. Your ancestors were most probably from Caucasus, this was also my first impression when I saw your photo.

Your ancestors were as much "raped" from the invading Bedouins as most Darginians. namely zero. We could rather say your J1* Grand, Grand,.......... Grandfather raped the Proto-Semites. Your J1* is older than the Bedouin J1c3d.

Ok thank you for the info. Maybe.

Hello jjmuneer. Although not impossible, that is not a likely scenario. The best thing for you at this point would be to transfer your results to FTDNA, and have a Deep Clade test.

We would need to wait for results of the Deep Clade, but tentatively, I would place you in J1*. In agreement with what the previous poster said. You may not be J1*, but, given your Kurdish origin, and the fact the heartland of J1* is between the S Caucasus and N Mesopotamia (and possibly even the N Levantine Med. Coast --> See the DYS388=14 J1* Syrians from Aleppo in El-Sibai et al.), it is more probable than not. The one difference I notice, between yourself, and most of the men with J1*, is your value at DYS388. You have an allele frequency of 15 at that particular STR locus. It occurs in a modest number of J1* project participants. Please see here: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/J1_asterisk_Y-DNA/default.aspx?section=yresults The DYS388=15 value, interestingly, was also the value for that particular locus associated with the hg9 modal haplotype among Yezidis, if memory serves me, in the Yepiskopsyan et al. paper, "GENETIC TESTING OF LANGUAGE REPLACEMENT HYPOTHESIS IN SOUTHWEST ASIA." Do not quote me on that though. It would be good to have a Kurd in the J1* project. :) As more Kurds test, I would expect many more to join.

As a Kurd, a West Asian, you certainly have a significant nexus with the Caucasus. Including, quite possibly, what may be your particular paternal line, J1*.
