ERBIL, Aug.25 (AKnews)- Three painting by the Kurdish painter and poet Farhad Pirbal (from Erbil) were sold at $58,000 yesterday evening, the painter said.
The exhibition in Shanadar Park was Pirbals' second exclusive exhibition in seven months, where he displayed 30 of his works.
One of the painting called "Snake and Fish" was sold at $34,000, the other "Majnun and Leyla" at $11,000 and "A Pregnant Girl" at $13,000, Pirbal said.
Commenting on the works, director Shahram Nameq said "we all know Farhad Pirbal as a distinguished personality because he is different from all.
"Some of his paintings are bought with a lot of money … but Pirbals' works are different and I don't feel bored with them."
Nameq added perhaps there are many people who don’t take pleasure from his paintings but at the same time there are many who do.
"I don't regard this as an exhibition because it was a trading business," said director Sarkawt Wali.
Wali added there are many people who buy a painting at high prices only to get famous.
He continued "this exhibition was also for getting fame and for business… There are many other famous artists … but no one watches their paintings."
