i remember barzani showed a small kurdistan flag in qazi mohammad confrance and said this is the flag that qazi mohammad gave to my father [actually he was lying...] and I will save this flag...

and that caused many inttelctuals to critic him...because he showed the currect flag of kurditsan not qazi's .

qazi mohammad was an inttelctual, Pen and Science was so important for him...
in his flag he had put Pen and also a "Per"[dont know whats is Per in english]

so yeah the kurdistan flag was diffrent in mahabad...but it still had Red - White - Green with Sun but Pen and Per was added to it .

Hey in the Kurdish Library I will look if we have true reproduction of different Kurdish flags, for we have a lot of original documents. We have the symbol of Xoybûn too. If I find something interesting, I'll scanenrize it and post there.

The official Kurdistan flag was created by the Xoybûn and (with the 21 rays) never changed... it remained the same during the Mahabad Republic period, as well...

After reading a little bit more about Avesta, I am almost certain that the 21 Nasks has something to do with the number of rays on our flag.
