i think theoretically kurmandji is supposed to be spoken by the biggest number of Kurds out of whole population, but because these Kurds temporary living on a territory under turkish control (north Kurdistan)- a lot of them dont speak their language at all, as this language is forbbiden there - thats why in practice more Kurds speak sorani (in south Kurdistan)- i think so, but i might be wrong.

I thnik you are right, because all the Kurds in East Kurdistan also speak Sorani and Kurdish language in this part is not forbidden and widely spoken among them.
