Yes I didn't think there would be the same names because we have different religions, and religion often affects such names. Armenian nation was first to adopt Christianity also. Armenian nobility was close with allies with the European Crusaders and the nobility of European kingdoms and Armenian intermarried as a result. Armenians adopted many European feudal and chivalry customs, added letters "o" and "f", the Armenian nobility adopted the European nobility clothing, and also the names were influenced. During those times the official language in the Armenian kingdom was Armenian, Latin, and French.

This was the flag of the Armenian Kingdom during that time,

You are right religion and intermarriage usually leave a dominant impact on the personal names. I had heard of the French influence amongst Armenian gentry but I had no idea about its extent along with Latin.

Yes, Armenian-French relations go back a long time, a lot of cultural exchange. even to this day on of our best friend and supporter is France, along with Greeks (our historical allies and ethnic cousins).

On another topic, my uncle recently climbed Mt. Ararat, and he toured all over Eastern turkey, visiting old Armenian churches and ruins. He tells me a lot about the nice kurdish people there, that helped him. He made a movie about this in connection with Armenian presence in Jerusalem, the film has been shown in several film festivals. However, in the beginning of the film you see the native kurds that helped him.

It is interesting, you go to Armenian villages you see very similar faces as in the Kurdish villages. Though I've noticed Kurds tend to be darker.

Yes I am also aware that our peoples traditionally refer to each other as "cousins". Is your uncle a professional movie maker? By the way I do not have a clue to give the percentage of various Kurdish complexions but to my meager knowledge we might be a little bit different according to "racial types" gathered by the German anthropologists.

My uncle runs a media company in Armenia, he's also a priest and a man of theology.

Armenians are Caucasians. I believe this also has to do with the skull type. But Armenians refer to themselves as Caucasians. In the wider sense, Armenians are aryan. The proto-Armenian tribes are known to have migrated from Thrace, Balkans, and parts of Greece to the present day Armenian highlands where there were living smaller groups of people.

I see that is great. If I am not wrong you mostly follow a denomination called "Gregoriyan" or "Gregorikan", sorry I only have heard of it thus I do not know how to spell it correctly.

Yes racial types are based on forms of skull, eye colors, complexions, labial forms, shape of noses, hair colors, etc. I am afraid they do not consider linguistic facts that much in this case, for instance Bengalis do speak an Indo-European language probably very close to Germanic family of languages but their typical appearance is not that much close to the Nordish'. Languages tell that some 3000 years ago we, Iranians and Armenians, were Indo-European peoples in origin but we have also experienced many racial blendings from then on as the anthropology confirms. Anyways Immanuel Kant in his last worthwhile works asseverates that "the mixture of human races is an aim of Nature" and inevitable. :)

Yes, we are part of the Armenian Apostolic Church. We are similar to Georgian Church and Assyrian.

Armenians and Iranians are close linguistically, however Iranians have gone through a lot of racial blendings different from Armenians. Armenians have mostly blended with its Caucasian neighbours especially Georgians who have similar culture/church to Armenia, ancient Albanians, Kurds, but tell you the truth Armenians have always tried to marry within their own group so blendings were minimal.

Language can tell a lot, but it isn't as accurate as DNA analysis which these days is available, and thus the origins of ethnic groups can be analysed much better.

Yes bro that is true, DNA is the most precise instrument to reveal origins. Also southern Armenians mostly appear to be tanned like my favorite singer Andy. (hazor nazor galises nazetsire manusha ... sorry if I have possibly written it wrongly, I was bent on listening his songs when I was younger :D )
