roj bas everybody!
what does merdin mean? that is a good question!
, you couldnt ask for a better question dyaoko! never thought of that and have checked in net couldnt find anything valuable for the question to answer....
Merdin, known in antiquity as Marida; According to some sources an Aramaic word meaning "fortress".
that is all i could find. hope you accept that as an answer...

Mardîn was one of the most beautiful cities in Northern Kurdistan, with a Syriac Houses style, like in Midyat. Unfortunately, savage buildings and urbanization had destroyed them, and all the villages around had been burnt in the plain. There, Turks build high modern buildings that spoil the landscape.
