No sorry im not kurdish im an english girl who has a kurdish partner.
Would love to talk to other people who have kurdish partners and get a bit of insight into them.
I have been with my man for 2yrs and still don't know how he ticks.

just one question, has your partner told you about his homeland and do you know where is kurdistan ?
and how much you as an "english girl" who is in realtionship with a kurdish boy feel Kurdish in politic ? and would care about poltic and freedom of kurdistan ?

I m just curious to know

Flippin heck thats a lot of questions for my first visit to the site.
Yes my partner has told me a lot about his homeland-maybe a little to much. I've heard the good and the bad and where his family fitted in with the saddam regime.
Im not much into politics but of course i see now the freedom kurdish people have compared to a few years ago.
How kurdish people can now get passports and leave the country when they want to.
It isn't easy being with a kurdish boy. As soon as you mention he is kurdish the first thing anyone says is "aren't they the ones who ran into the hills" And of course being with an iraqui muslim well "he will end up kidnapping me and not let me leave the country". Their is a lot of prejudice around these topics but thankfully my partner has told me a lot about his culture, religion and his way of life.
I will never pretend it is eay being with him as their are so many differences btween us, especially when it comes to being around other men. But i am understanding him and he is trying to adapt to my western way of life.

You say you have been with your guy 2 years, thats great. If you do decide to marry will you revert to Islam? Is it something you 2 talk about much? Im sure after 2 years at least in england your guy is pretty much used to the western culture, and im sure at first he was shocked as to how easy we live here, (i know my friends were) but he is adapting easily from what you have said in your posts. Good luck

I think him living in England is a totally new way of life for him and in some areas hard to get to grips with.
He has a lot of friends here and they all love the freedom they get in england especially the freedom they get where women are concerned.
He isn't a practising muslim and no idon't think i will convert to islam. When we have talked about marriage and children he has never actually said i want you to convert, i would be happy both religions and cultures were followd. Especially where children were concerned. I think it's great to have 2 parents following different religions and as long as we are not pushing it onto our future children then they have the best of both worlds and can then decide for themselves which religion to follow. But as we live in england i suppose it's going to be more the english culture we follow which my partner has said since we live in england it's only fair for the child to follow western ways.
We have talked about language and i feel it's very important for the child to have both languages so it's easier if i speak in english to the child and he speaks in sorrani.
Ovbiously their are difficulties in any mixed relationship but it's about finding the balance and respecting each others values and opinions.
But don't go thinking we have a perfect relationship we don't by far he is very jealous and possessive. I suppose thats another problem due to western ways. English girls have boys as friends and talk to boys freely which he can't understand at all.

You don't need to critisize anybody you could just say "his dialect is sorani not his language"

Hope I didn't ruin your good mood! Well... I would like to have my say on Kurdish men... And Kurdish culture... Being a Kurdish guy myself - I like to think I know what we think!

by the way it is not wrong to say Sorany language,
Kurdish has 4 branches, and each of them are a language for itself. (not a dailect , dialect is like Biritish / American Dailect , which have the same grammar and words with diffrent accents.)

Dyaoko... If you read what you just said right now, you will see that you agree with me...

Kurdish is composed of two languages: Kurmancî and Pehlewî.

Kurmancî and Soranî are Kurmancî proper, while Zazakî, Goranî etc. are Pehlewî...

Soranî and Kurmancî are dialects of Kurmancî... Just as much as Zazakî and Goranî are dialects of Pehlewî...

A Colemêrgî Kurmanc like myself, speaks Kurmancî with a different accent than a Mêrdînî Kurmanc...

Likewise, a Hewlêrî Soran speaks Soranî with a different accent than a Sineyî Soran...

Somebody who speaks Soranî - speaks the same words, with variations, as a Kurmancî speaker... Just different dialects...

And people from Sulêmanî and Mehabad speak Soranî, but with different accents...

Kurmancî and Soranî are the same language: Kurmancî...

Goranî, Zazakî etc. are the same language: Pehlewî...

well you are not the only one with a kurdish partner. my boyf is also kurdish hence y i find this site soo amazin im still trying to learn the kurdish language and so far all i have is choni lol x
