Hi, i am Kurdish patriot!
You might know me from kss
I am a yezidi kurd and my mother is from Snuny, in Shengal. My father is from sheikhan. They have divorced after 20 years and my father has a new wife who is also a yezidi kurd, and she is from bashiqa. I personally don't really believe in spiritual stuff and gods/ghosts etc. So you can call me an atheist, but i am very proud of yezidism as it uses kurdish culture in the religion. I myself don't see it actually as a religion, but more like a kurdish culture, and as i am a kurdish patriot. I am also proud of my kurdish culture practicing religion. I am interested in science, specially astronomy, technology, games, military, and ofc kurdistan and the religions of it(yazdanism). My brother wants to join the peshmerga he says a lot of times, he planned to join it about next 3 months. He would love to be a sniper with his favourite sniper the barret M82. I see there are a lot of non kurdish members here which is pretty nice aswell.

I can tell you there are ranks in yezidism, i am a sheikh for example. My stephmother used to be a spiritual healer. I am just 16 years old, there used to be another yezidi kurd on kss, and he knew a LOT. He had a lot of information, but you can ask me questions anytime and i will answer if i know the answer at least

In Duhok, I met a Yezidi who was a sheikh from the branch of 'charming snake' (don't know it is the correct term). I would have loved to see him in action but it was at a friendly party, in a garden, there was plenty of beers but no snakes so I could not watch how he plays with snakes. Toooo bad

Well my steph mother has healed me once, she made some special kind of dough, and before she put it on my leg(where i had injury) she has made her fingers wet by her spit. Then she touched me with it and did a blessing and ended it with al maleik faxradin tawus u melek. In these times they barely do it anymore, in the past more.

That is really sad the Yezidis should never give up spiritual healing

Spiritual healing works on several levels:

The actual herbs used in such healing form the basis for a great many modern day medicines

The herbs and the dough itself would have stimulated the blood flow to the injured area - that would have sped up the healing process

The herbs probably had an antibiotic/anti bacterial element to them which prevented/cured infection

The fact that a person is receiving healing often has the placebo effect - the more a person expects the treatment to work, the more likely they are to improve

The spitting on the dough and working it with hands would have put some of the healer's energy into the dough - some healers do not even have to use herbs in order to heal

Your step mother sounds like a lovely lady - I hope many young people follow in her path - such gifts as she posses should not be lost or forgotten

I see your nationality, you are not kurdish? But you visit duhok before, you are a dear kurd lover ?

I am 100% French, but speak Kurmancî fluently, visited 80% of Kurdistan (Bakûr, Başûr, Rojava), translated Kuridsh classic literature, and I am the header of the Kurdish Institute of Paris Library.

So Kurdistan is my second homeland (and my favorite one, for, as we say in French, Sa famille, on la subit, ses amis, on les choisit = we have to suffer our family, but we can choose our friends (and our beloved).

Wow, very interesting. What do you like about kurdistan? The secularism? the strife for equal rights of woman and men? The socialism? The harmony of minorities? The history?

I love Kurds for themselves (especially the gundî ) and Kurdistan for its beautiful landscapes, the numerous minorities that makes it exceptionnal in Middle East now, their history of bravery and rebellion, and their culture and literature.

But indeed when you love something or someone, if you can explain why, that means you don't love, because 'coup de foudre' has no explanation. Many scholars I know are fond of Arab culture, others of Persians (I love Iranian civilization also), some love Turks, or Ancient civilizations… With Kurds, I feel at home, that's a fact, though I don't feel myself as a Kurd. I like to be a stranger among them (guests have always the best part )

And the city of Amêdî in Duhok Province is the most beautiful city according to my heart.
