Hi there,

I am from California in the USA. I speak only english but have gotten the Eurotalk CD to learn very basic words in Sorani. I will be learning the language since I intend to move to Kurdistan in about two years.

I am currently a wholesale rep for a mortgage lender. I am married and have a family with two children.

I hope to be helping run a center where a number of businesses will operate including an english training school, internet cafe, and coffee house. There will also be a family recreation area.

While I am a born again christian I am not hear to push my views but to find opportunities to learn more of the language, have some questions answered as they come up, and also learn more of the culture. I will be glad to answer any questions that arise due to my beliefs but only if others are interested and in the appropriate forum.

I look forward to chatting with many of you soon.

Ron S.

Dyaoka,

Thank you for the warm welcome. :)

Honestly Kurdistan was just another place on earth to me until about three months ago. An american missionary came to our church and exposed me and my family to the struggles facing the Kurds. That night the Lord placed a love in my heart (and my wifes) for the Kurdish people and we didn't want to only offer our moral support but our lives to helping in any way we could.
It turns out that there is a desire for many to learn english so that is one way we can and will help.

From what I have learned the Kurdish people are a rightfully proud people who have been too easily forgotten by the world community. Because of recent events, awareness to the issues facing them are becoming more widely known.

Kurdistan will stand up on its own whether me and my family come or not but I hope they don't mind having a friend by their side as they do. We are very excited as we take the steps to make it our home.

Do you live there now? If so mabey we will meet some day.

Ron
