Well, I am currently living in USA. I have BS in International Relations and soon will have another BS in International Business. I love philosophy, history and political theories. I have read a lot of classical philosophy, but never enough.
I saw this web site a few days ago, and after looking through for a few minutes I had to sign on, becuase like most Americans I have a big mouth and have to put my two cents worth in, other than that, I believe that Blogs or site such as this are an excellent way to meet other young Kurds who are frusterated with our dilemma as am I and we want to scream it to the world.
I do not speak a second language...turki, arabi or farsi....although, when I first came out of Iraq (17 years ago) I was fluent in in Arabi and since then I have conveniently forgotten it.
I am originally from the border of Turkey and Iraq...Hekkar area...but I was born in Duhok...it was a nice little town. I really do not consider myself a Kurd of one area in Kurdistan...I am the child of a couple of Kurdish hippies and believe me they lived in every part...so I have taken citizenship of all parts of Kurdistan.

What's the name of the town you are originally from - the one in Colemêrg (Hekarî) I mean...

I am from Colemêrg too... I call it Nawka Kurdistanê...

The village in Colemerg that we are from is called Beyt Shebab ( arabi for Mala Genca) chima arabiye? xwede ez nizanm....bes dizanm naveke arabiye....ez hizir dikim Kurdi birha bo!
I have never been to Hekkar or Culemerg...but my parents have... i am so jlus of them but what can I do? lol I suppose rojekê ji van rojên delal ezê parzinê xwe heligirim u dest bi rêya Hakkarî dikim.
Bi rasti? Nawka Kurdistane? interesting...maybe it sits in the middle of Kurdistan...and I guess that Dile Kurdistane was already reserved...although I have run across many duplicate names of villages between Bakur and Bashur.....
Have you been to Colemerge recently? if so....you must tell me all about it! I want to know every little detail, as well....as the low down and dirt on my village?

Beyt Shebab? Is that the Kurdish standard Latînî way of writing it?

I never heard of that one... It must be on the souther tip of Colemêrg... Bira you shouldn't use the name "Hekkari" because it's not politically correct. For starters that is the name Turkey uses on the province. And secondly "Hakkari" is a limited area - only the part in Bakûr (Northern Kurdistan)... Colemêrg is the old and rightful name of the Province - and it defies the borders of todays countries... The capital of Colemêrg should be Ûrmiye... It is the largest city within the Province...

Neighbouring Provinces:

South: Soran
South-East: Mûkriyan
North: Wan
West: Botan
South-West: Badînan

I call it Nawka Kurdistan... And it DOES mean "Belly button of Kurdistan"... That is exactly why I call it that... Because it's in the middle of Kurdistan... From Zara in the North-West of Kurdistan and down to Êlam in the South-East - you'll find Colemêrg is in the center of Kurdistan... Therefore it is Nawka Kurdistanê...

Since you say "in some areas that means Belly Botton" - it means you call belly button by another name? What do you call it? In Colemêrg we call a belly button for "Nawik/Nawk"...

Yes I was in Colemêrg some years back... And this summer I was in Bashkala - southern Wan Province... That's just aout 20-30 km north of Colemêrg Province...

It was beautiful as always... Breath-taking... I posted a thread with pictures from my trip... I'll dig up the thread!

lol sorry...thanks for the correction. I really do not know much about the geography of kurdish provinces old or new....I am the first to admit that i need to learn...unfortunately haven't yet. and sorry if i stepped on your toes ...It will not happen again...yeah right..it will happen everyday...it is exactly what these debates are for.
as to the Nawka Kurdistane...it is the same but the Badenan people actually pronounce it a bit differently...they say Navik...or nafk very lightly
as to the old village....i have no idea where it is ...all i now is that it is somewhere in culemerg...that is the old name of it...presently it may be called something else...i will find from my parents what the name of it may be...but to my understanding that is what it used to be called. as i have not been there and not seen it with my own two eyes, i will rely on your intellect to direct me to right corner of the kurdish territory, lol just kidding.
i know there is something else i need to be writting, but i cannot think of it now...it will come to me in the middle of the night...then i will be sure to post.
oh, by the way...i was in Wan too...last year. I stayed in diyarbakir as well, then we had lunch in merdin.....i loved the food...it was fried something or another. i loved it. I was there with my sister...we traveled 6 hours to get to diyarbakir...when we finally got there...we did not know where to go...hahaha it was so funny...two lost kids in a big city...very comical actually but sounds tragic.

Don't worry at all... And no you didn't step on my toes! And I hope I didn't intellectualize you or offend you - I just tend to be a bit strict with people, as well as myself, when it comes to being politically correct what concerns Kurdistan and Kurds.

Since you said it used to be part of Colemêrg (as in Hekarî in Bakûr Kurdistan), I assume you meant it is now part of Southern Kurdistan - so therefore I thought perhaps it's in the south of historical Colemêrg...

Yeah - tell me about it... Badînî always like that - Bûk becomes Bîk etc...

anyhooo ...I lived in Mardîn for a couple of years, prior to that I lived in an Arab/Yezid mixed village....in Iraq... we left when I was ten years old...I actually grew up in South East USA....life here is very comfertable...I am in a laid back city and we have a large Kurdish population. I am very much older than you little bro (25) , but mash allah your knowledge exceeds mine abundantly...may Zerdesht give you more....

I think I will call you Bira...amongs us Kurds this word not only signifies a strong bond of blood and kinship , but it also signifies something much stronger and much more deeper .....indeed I am glad to be called bira too.

Sorry I haven't welcomed you before, but I am very busy ,as I am writing my thesis (I study International and Diplomatical Sciences,which is more or less like the the one you did International Relations ).
