ive been reading the previous threads, all very interesting!!!!! this is one of the best sites of seen for message forum.alot of my questions have been answered just by reading all the old threads.........

i hope i can chat to some people from urfa in turkey as im soon to be married to a kurd. i just wanted to get n insight into their lifestyles.

im pakistani, living in the UK and my partner and i have both discussed loadz of things. the culture and traditions are very much the same as we share the same root of islam....

id like to hear more about what kurdish men are like after marriage and any experiences any1 may of had

When it comes to your question... I'm afraid it would be silly to give you a straight answer, as there is no specific category for how a person acts... I guess all men act differently as husbands... Just like all women act differently as houswives...

I think you are the best person to make that judgement about your future husband... Because if you read between the lines, you'll now how he is at any time and how he will react to anything you might think of...

Remember also: he isn't the only person who's in charge of him, just as you aren't the only person in charge of yourself... When in a serious relationship, both partners make decisions and both make an effort to make it work...

Now that I've tried to give you an abstract reply - I'd like to ask you a question

Are you Pashtun, Punjab, Baloch or Sindhi?

thanx alot Diri for your reply, i know only i can make the judgement cos im in the relationship..but mashallah im very happy with my partner and hope inshallah all goes well.....just a little afraid but i guess thats with every one when they tie the knot!!

im urdu speaking...not punjabi, sindhi, pusto or baloch......lol....dont know what category ud put me in but my fathers from islamabad and mum from peshawar.....lol

dyaoka,,yeh esma is an arabic name...i know its very common in turkey....my fiance is faruk and thats very common in the pakistani community so thats a good thing...lol....il let u know all about the experience as i know it will def help others in the same position as me........

im hoping to go to urfa in may to have my nikkah inshallah and will let u know how it all goes...

id like to know abit more about urfa and whats expected in the house when im around his family...i think i know the basics as its very similar to a pakistani household...but i might not know something...so if any of u have any useful advice to give me please dooooooo

As you said, the traditions in most muslim places are so to speak the same... I mean in matters of "do's" and "don't's"

So no worries... Just remember to kiss his parents hands...

No you only kiss the hands of those whom you are related to - and whom are either significantly older than you - like parents, grandparents etc. or of higher status... Like uncles or aunts...



The guests - you mean to the wedding? You should be a little passive when you're bride - let people take the first initiative... Because they won't wait for you to act... And if you feel unsure of something, "should I act or not" - then act as if you are shy or as if you are focused on something else...

If girls, you will kiss the girls - normally twice - once on each cheeck... And if boys you won't kiss them - if they reach out their hand, you will shake it... Usually only relatives will shake your hand - boys who are not related, won't approach you anyway...

Yes, I love my culture and my people - as I imagine all Kurds do - but not everybody takes an interest in promoting their culture and not everybody knows the deeper underlying red lines of our culture...

I would show you pictures of bridal outfits...

But I have not pictures at hand... However, I have a question for you: do you wear a hijab? And will you be wearing one with your bridal? If so - there are islamic bride's dresses in Turkey... You should probably buy your bride's dress in Istanbul - because you'll have more to choose from... But at the same time: it will be more expensive...
