Hello Everybody.

I'm Chris and I am an English language tutor. I have recently been asked to learn Sorani to act as an interpreter by the local authorities. I attended my first Sorani lesson today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would be grateful to any of you giving me a hand with the language and would be very pleased to receive any recommendations from you with regard to learning resources.

Welcome to RBK Chris , Feel free to post or Pm me with any questions you might have . Sorani is very easy to learn and the short cut is having Sorni friends or spending a month in Sulaymania . I promise you by the time you come back you will speak nothing but sorani .You might even forget English .

I'm actually Bahdini , but I lived among sorans as a result I forgot my Bahdini .

you have no idea how much lucky you are that you have possibility to attend sorani course! i will give a lot to have that chance, but here where i live (wolverhampton) - its ,ore easy to win lottery than to find any teacher of sorani.
anyway - if you take a look at some post here you can find links to websites that may help you. i can psot for you the ones i am using, but first i have to know if you are learning in latin or in original sorani writting (i recommended you original writting, its not so confusing like latini).
which of my brothers said sorani is easy? kak Talsor?
if you offer help to our new friend - can i also ask something about sorani from time to time my dear brothers?

I am learning Sorani in the Arabic script. I did not see any point in learning it using the latin alphabet, afterall I will have to be able to interpret documents and correspondence in their original form. In addition, latinisation is just a construct whether enforced like it is in Turkey or as a vocabulary learning tool.

I am actually attending a class provided for Kurdish children taught by a dear friend of mine who is the leader of the Kurdish Exiles Centre Here in Plymouth. it has worked out nicely, I provide English Language lessons for those Kurdish people who are in need and help with any English language administrative work he needs; he teaches me Sorani.
